Ted brought back a souvenir from Vegas for the girls....a shower of pink tissue hearts. He saved these from the finale of the Cheap Trick / Beatles cover show.

Layered paper, graphite.

This little guy is made out of two different pieces of paper that I saved from the scrap bin at work. Cut on my Craft Robo pro.

I am constantly writing notes to myself and most of the time I never go back to read them or if I do it's past the point that any note would be useful to me. I make lists I never follow.

These notes were all found while cleaning my room, and I'm sure there are more floating around somewhere. Most were written at work and some I can't even discern why I had originally written them.

An anonymous paper prototype/idea. Each workshopper responded to one of the best ideas from their team brainstorm, using any of the various materials I provided.

The Division of Insects receives thousands of specimens as donations to the collection each year. Once in a while we receive dried specimens that are not pinned but wrapped in paper or plastic. Recently we received a collection that included a variety of insects neatly packaged in plastic. These specimens were collected in Indonesia and Africa.

Once the donation is accessioned, the work behind the scenes begins. Dried insects are very stiff and brittle, but providing a source of moisture “relaxes” the muscles so the parts can be moved without breaking. This process can be done in a plastic container lined with wet paper towels, and a piece of plastic or foam on top of the paper towels to work as a barrier. The specimens are placed on top of the barrier and the container sealed for 24-48 hours. Moisture builds up in the container and seeps into the specimens, “relaxing” them. They can then be pinned, labelled, and added to the collection.

Paper Animation Kits are great for first-time model builders! What are paper animation kits? Flying Pig and Bob the Dog Animated Paper Models are "automata" - toys or models which use mechanism to "come alive!" Automata have a long and distinguished history. Whether made from paper, wood, brass or leather, they have delighted young and old alike for hundreds of years. Today, building paper automata is still a passion for many.

Both Bob the Dog and Flying Pig animated models are super family activities for both parents and children. Each comes with easy to follow, fully illustrated instructions (just pop out die-cut pieces, glue and assemble) - all you need is some white school glue! Animated models are a fun and easy way to learn about basic mechanisms - you make the cranks and levers that make the model move!

I found this lovely eye-catching work while I was walking around York last weekend.

This wallpaper installation is part of the nationwide exhibition 'Paper Trail' by Deborah Bowness. Manchester is the next city on the tour.

I'm having fun making some special christmas paper cuts for a swap I'm participating in. I have some pretty velum and kite papers that I'm going to use to create color that will shine when they are hung in a window :)

My first pair of earrings. These earrings are so light weight you can barely feel them. I had a lot of fun with these. After looking for a pretty pair of pink earrings with no luck I decided to make them myself. They are a little Mardi Gras looking but they suit me just fine. What do you think? What color would you like?

Your love hurts like a paper cut, so sweet

Never even feel the slice you're so deep

It seems so hard as but only at first

Like a paper cut, the pain grows worse

After you collapse the base, you should do a valley fold as shown here. Repeat on the other 3 sides and you'll get the bottom braided area.

Then you'll be left with 4 points, close one over the other and you'll get the top braided layer.

Fun piece for Captain Kris BirthMas jam with Global Street Art. I like painting paper...

I'm not sure what type of insect this is, but it was casually hanging out on the paper towel roll the other day and when I turned around it was gone.

This model came from Caldwell's Paper Mill in Inverkeithing - a bunch of parts are missing and it's seized solid, but I'm determined to get it working again. I now know it's a Fourdrinier-type machine with a Yankee dryer.

This machine would make paper about 7.5" wide - full-size machines make paper over 100" wide ;-)

Oh, and despite what it says, I didn't pinch the book from Lambeth Library - it was withdrawn from stock. I love old manuals like this - "Lockwood's Technical Manuals - Practical Books for Practical Men".

Chinese artist, Li Hongbo made these sculptures by gluing many laters of paper in to a honeycomb-like structures display at the Asian Civilisations Museum.

These colorful Paper Wasps (Polistes instabilis) were common on the over wintering grounds of the Monarchs. I am not sure if there was an ecological relationship between this wasp and the butterflies. Overwintering grounds at Reserva de la Biosfera Mariposa in the Western Mountains of Mexico.

done with henna on paper... old henna that was kind of blobby!

I also managed to put my hand on it at one point and make a mess. Oh well.

couldn't be bothered doing it over!

French paper Mill tour - Niles, MI

It was a stunning sunset yesterday (Saturday) evening, just north of Dundonald, looking towards Irvine with the paper mill steaming along the horizon.
