Letterpress business cards for photographer Sarah Kate. Printed in a latte colored ink, her logo was distressed and the impression provides a nice look and feel to it on the paper.

Paper Koi is an ongoing project from C3 to benefit the Red Cross. For a suggested $10 donation you can download the first in a series of Paper Koi, pictured above, the blank template and then you can check back periodically over the coming weeks for new designs by other C3 artist. I designed the template and my pal Steve Duffendack did the surface design for the first Koi in the series. Donate and download:

I tried to color some paper... :) these aren't so nice as Hilli's (and she is definitelly my biggest inspiration), but I love to learn more about papers and coloring and I really would like to try to make paper...

This is a drawing by an amazing guy called Ryan Scott. It is going to be my next tattoo... the one for 1000papercranetattoos.blogspot.com I'm planning to have the paper part maintain the pencil drawing look and adding color to the live crane part. I think it will be an amazing piece and I love him for co-conspiring to create the project with me as well as for this inspired drawing that will become part of me for as long as this mortal coil lasts... I hope I have a birthmark shaped just like it in my next life and that I then find this website and picture and know it was me!
the modules all lined up. very important to get a head count and align them all straight before attaching. makes for faster installation.
my dad made this ceramic creature as a present to vladik for publishing an article in physics review letters. the decoratins are figures from the paper.
This is a paper toy project I did at my new job. It's the first paper toy I've done that doesn't need glue. It comes die cut and tabs together. It's for a restaurant to give away with their kids meals. It's printed on thick glossy paper and is about 2-3 inches tall when assembled.
This was a weird first day in Buenos Aires. On the last day of work before the New Year, Argentinians celebrate by throwing all the paper out of office buildings... We didn't know this, as shredded paper rained down on everyone walking on the commercial streets.
Recycled paper chandelier made for a Woodend Artists ACE funded event in Aug 08. The artist ran workshops with local youth groups to make the origami cubes. These were then grouped into colour and suspended by fishing wire from a central frame.

Papier Mache is a delicate decorative art which shows the artistic zeal of a craftsman. This art was introduced in Kashmir in the 15th century by a Kashmiri Prince who spent years in prison at Samarkand in Central Asia. The art born in the land of Persia was highly favoured by Mughal Emperors. This unique craft involves the use of paper pulp for creating beautiful artifacts painted by expert craftsmen in lifelike images of Chinar leaves, different flowers designs, animal figures and other motifs. The traditional Kashmiri method of making Papier Mache starts with the waste paper which is soaked in water for several days until it disintegrates. The excess water is drained and the soaked waste paper, cloth, straw and other realted things are mixed to form the pulp. This mixture is placed in a mould and left to dry for two to three more days.On the drying of pulp, the shape is cut away from the mould in two halvesand then glued again. The surface is coated with the layer of glue and gypsum, rubbed smooth with a stone or baked piece of clay and pasted with layers of tissue paper.A base color is painted on, and a desighn is added free hand. The object is then sandpapered or burnished and is finally painted with several coats of lacquer. The ingenious papier mache artisans of Kshmir transform a variety of utility articles into rare art pieces.
The creation of a papier mache object can be divided into two distinct categories, the sakhtsazi(making the object) and the Naqashi (painting the surface). The final product is a beautiful art work that cannot be called a creation of one artist. It travels many pairs of talented hands before reaching a table or a mantel.
I used two sheets of Bristol 100 pound paper glued back-to-back to insure that the spirals stayed rigid in vertical position. The construction is sliceform.
