喀擦!!! 喀擦!!! 喀擦!!! 091715

Caught this Pacific black duck flying through the Royal National Park (Sydney, Australia). Quite a pretty bird when you take a moment to have a closer look.
The Pacific black duck (Anas superciliosa), commonly known as the PBD, is a dabbling duck found in much of Indonesia, New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, and many islands in the southwestern Pacific, reaching to the Caroline Islands in the north and French Polynesia in the east.
This was not too far into our late afternoon channel crossing back to the mainland from my Channel Islands NP daytrip. I was still hoping for that classic flying dolphin image but these guys were too far back. Excitement building.
After a long time without activity, I return with a picture of the Pacific Surfliner at Los Angeles, towed by the EMD F59PH 452. I don't know if it came from San Diego or San Luis Obispo...
Pacific City is a peaceful beachfront town offering plenty of outdoor pursuits. Thanks to a natural breakwater, Pacific City’s beach is a favorite spot for surfers and anglers.
Here is another closeup portrait of a Pacific Loon. It has been sitting on my desktop for about a year now, so, I finally decided post it. I like to try to get them either in the blue water or the green water as I think it shows them off better. This is one of a pair that I have worked with for years. They are used to seeing me in the raft and let me work in close.
Amazing how different they can look in different lighting.
Camera Settings: f/9 - 1/250 - 280mm - ISO 320

A storm darkening the Pacific Ocean just behind Nobby Beach at Port Macquarie. I'm not sure what this little beach is called actually. I've heard it called Rocky Beach but that is supposed to be further north closer to Flynn's Beach.
This panorama was stitched from 10 vertical frames.
Monterey Bay, California. One of my favorite spots in the world to take time to relax and spend quality time with my loved ones.
Pacific Black Duck

We'd ventured out in sunny weather, but a change quickly carried in a light drizzle.
I saw this Pac Black hop out of the water move to some thick dried grasses, settle itself down, and then tuck its head under its two built in doonas.
I wondered why I wasn't doing the same.
This is the first photograph of this little one this year. They like to work the Alder trees in summer for insects that feed from the leaves.
Today I find myself in a landscape that couldn't be more different than the Namibian landscapes of last week. Arrived in the intoxicating mist and fogs of the Pacific Northwest and already staggered by the beauty of the Pacific Rim National Park.
Union Pacific's local out of St Louis rolls west at Pacific, MO on a beautiful autumn afternoon behind a pair of MoPac geeps. Pacific, Missouri, named after home road Missouri Pacific, is a quaint little town in the picturesque Meramec River valley, and was our absolute favorite train watching spot during the four years that we lived in Missouri. UP's former MoPac main line paralleled BN's former Frisco Cuba Subdivision through town, making for never ending variety and nonstop action. BN's searchlight protected Cuba Sub can be seen at right.

Nothing like fresh caught
Not sure how this pair acquired the fish, perhaps it had been left by one of the seals we sometimes see in the area.
Or, perhaps it had been caught in a rock pool as the tide receeded.
The Pacific swallow is a small passerine bird in the swallow family. It breeds in tropical southern Asia and the islands of the south Pacific. It is resident apart from some local seasonal movements.
Scientific name: Hirundo tahitica
A photographer from South Carolina shoots the incoming waves at Seaside, Oregon. How do I know she's from South Carolina? After taking this shot she approached me and asked if I knew the best seasons for photographing local wildlife, specifically birds. Unfortunately, I knew nothing of the sort as I'm not into wildlife photography. So I felt bad, especially since I got this great picture of her. =)
Taken at the White Rock Pier, White Rock, British Columbia, CA.
This fellow popped up right in front of me by the lower floating dock.

Units of the Neolith Corporation affiliated private military & security company - "Damage Inc." - are marching forward through the empty streets of yet another rebellious corporate colony, on their way to regain lost assets and restore justice, however, on their terms.
Obviously, this whole MOC heavily inspired by numerous amazing works in "World In Darkness" setting, but there's countless evident visual nods to continuous conflicts in the Middle East.
Originally this diorama was intended to be a small showcase for this crab'ish mecha, but eventually it has grown into a full-scale scene. I'm only partially satisfied with overall result, but it was a nice experience at making large and detailed scenes, although it was made for a single shot.
More pics of that mecha coming soon.
