This is another picture taken during one of my walking tours in Portland in October. The Piedmont Presbyterian Church was built in 1915 in what looks like an Italian Renaissance style. There are few non-residential buildings in this neighborhood, so it really stands out. It looks charming nestled amidst the autumn leaves.
I really wanted this angle, shot beneath the brilliant leaves. However, in this section of Portland, the power lines run down alleys that bisect the blocks. From this vantage, those overhead wires were scattered throughout the center of this image, so I spent about half an hour cloning them out. If you go to Portland to see this church, it won't look this tidy and unobstructed.

Piedmont Grocery, located at 4038 Piedmont Ave in Oakland, has been serving the Piedmont district since 1903. In 1967, the supermarket was reconstructed. Since then, only minor changes have taken place, and this supermarket is something of a time capsule. It continues to do a brisk business with the Piedmont community.

Appears to be Lyonia mariana, called "Piedmont Staggerbush" by USDA Plants, though it is found mostly in the coastal plain.
