The Monne is a small river which takes its source torrential in the Monts-Dore at 1300m altitude near the neck of the cross Morand above the village of Mareuge. It then flows eastward towards the Allier.
The remarkable natural site of the gorge is the Monne ranked since 1979 both for its landscape quality as for its rich flora and fauna . This site remained wild is only accessible on foot, it is divided between the municipalities of Olloix and Cournols source www.olloix.fr/Gorges.html .

View On BlackTaken at my favorite sunset place. Grassy Waters Preserve. No filter. Came out of the camera this color and I didn't need to do anything but crop. The sky was just being special. All day I'd been watching the clouds do strange things and knew it was going to be a special sunset. A large wet front had moved through followed by dry air and wind.

A true and interesting story:
Carving paulownia wood is an art form in Japan and China.
The leaves can be eaten cooked; the flowers are edible, for example in a salad. But people only eat the plant in dire need, when there is nothing else to eat.
In early spring, before the leaves emerge, the fragrant, light lilac-purple flowers appear. Their scent is reminiscent of vanilla.
A decoction of the leaves is used to cleanse nasty sores and is said to promote hair growth and prevent graying. The leaves can also be used as a compress for bruises. The juice of the leaves is used against warts. The flowers are used in the treatment of skin conditions. A tincture of the bark is used in the treatment of fever and delirium. It has an astringent effect and is also used to expel parasitic worms.
The wood is not attacked by insects and is used to make boxes, clogs, furniture, musical instruments, etc. It is suitable for poles and beams in construction and a source of charcoal. The nitrogen-rich leaves are a good fodder crop and the roots prevent soil erosion. Various Asian string instruments are made from Paulownia tomentosa, including the Japanese koto and the Korean gayageum zither.
The plant contains a number of potentially toxic substances.
In China, this tree was traditionally planted at the birth of a girl. The fast-growing tree developed as the girl grew up. When she got married, the tree was cut down and the wood was carved into items for her dowry.

It has been a very long day for me today. I'm pretty mentally exhausted, don't really have time to think about what to post for the day so I just dug up this simple leaf capture from my archives, one for my red and green "state of mind". This is a strange sunset phenomena I see once in awhile. The rays such as these here are actually not in the west but are in the east as the sun goes down. They appear to be related to shadows cast by clouds based on this image, but if anyone knows what this effect is called or can explain why it does this-- please do. Edit: and flickr comes through, I knew I could count on the hive mind to find the term! Thanks goes to algo, larigan, and ER Post for finding these are anti-crepuscular rays, fascinating!
Note:the rays were not added in photoshop, I emphasized them here with a blend of hdr and non-hdr layers to create the final result. A total of two hdr images composed from 8 exposures 1 ev apart and two original frames were used to create the final result that best shows off the rays in the east to my tastes.
This image is from the archives and when Ann and I were there it was early only 0830 and this guy was totally fascinated with Ann's Hat and the the fact that she had an orange she was eating. I thought it was true love hehe !

El parc Ribalta és l'únic parc públic del centre de Castelló de la Plana, es tracta d'una de les zones més representatives de la ciutat.
La configuració del parc comença al segle XIX, quan comença la industrialització a la ciutat. Es va construir, per iniciativa de l'Ajuntament, per oferir als viatgers de tren la sensació de poder econòmic de la ciutat. Es va construir sobre l'antic cementeri del Calvari, i des del primer moment es va dedicar a Francesc Ribalta (que es pensava en aquells temps que era nascut a Castelló de la Plana). En 1876, l'Ajuntament va ampliar el parc amb les terres oferides pel Comte de Pestagua.

El parque Ribalta es el único parque público del centro de Castelló de la Plana. Construido en el siglo XIX por iniciativa del Ayuntamiento.

VIEW BIGGER - a better perspective
This photograph was taken after Djupivogur which was completely covered in fog, enroute to Egilsstadir. Route 1 takes you through the East Fjords and the road becomes very steep and curvy so would highly recommend a good SUV.
The view was so breathtaking that we actually found a place to stop and walked down to get this shot. Arguable one of the most breathtaking drives we have ever done anywhere.

Shelby was in the mood to do some more "figure-study-esque" shots the other week which caught me particularly off guard because I was only mentally prepared to shoot her in the H&M skirt that I posted a few shots of earlier on. I kind of feel like I failed in doing her justice for these shots and it brought to mind just how unprepared I am to think and deliver on-the-spot without time to meditate and prepare beforehand. All in all, I think I managed to capture her beauty and femininity here better than most of the others. No CS trickery or touch-up, just the basic Lightroom processing treatment I give to all of my photos. Enjoy!

Day time trek to Ogmore with Molly rain / cloud was weathermans story i got lucky , will return here when the tide is right and will either be a sunrise or sunset .
This was'nt the beach i was planning the tide had not dropped enough and there was a group of approx 12 people waiting to climb down into the small gorge with their teacher so i chose another part of this addictive coastline
So the light was very overcast - no vivid colours today .

Achieved the results i expected , Earth tones, as the tide dropped with some drama in the sky, the light was kind to me as i arrived , been to Ogmore so many times in the last 2 yrs never noticed this rock formation before now .
