The pea shoots have been surrounded with coffee grounds as a layer of protection against nibbling sniffers and as an added nitrogen source.
spotted this in the supermarket, didnt know there were really black eye peas. n no, these peas wont phunk with your heart.
The peas are up about 24 inches. I should see some blooms in the next week or so. Come on peas!
This bed needs some work.... today during naptime I suspect.
Not as good as usual as we think they have some kind of virus and seem to be slowly dying. Peas are such a disapointment some years.
These flowers of a member of the pea family are about an inch (1/3 dm) across. The two halves of the almost-circles are two of the five petals of the flowers. Their function seems to be to attract pollinators. The other petals are concentrated around the sexual parts of the flower. Leaving aside all this plumbing, these flowers are beautiful. Isn't God a great artist?

We grew these unusual golden peas last year. They did well and tasted delicious, so they made the cut for this year's garden.

Peas growing in guttering (rescued from a tip!) prior to being slid out into the garden. Also Onions & Garlic. Nero Cavolo at the back.
Ava, pushing her new pea car. The outer peas rotate, and the inner one goes up and down. I figured it was a good time for a new toy to shake things up.
