Lady peas were my favorite childhood vegetable. My mother would buy them from the women who walked up and down the street early on summer mornings hollering, "LADY PEAS -- FRESH, SHELLED LADY PEAS." I don't think today's lady peas are as good as those of the olden days.

Madagascan vanilla sponge with buttercream, in a dark chocolate case with moulded frosting swirl... complete with pea sprinkles, tomatoes, carrots, pepper, a banana and an apple!
THe peas are here! Though I think they still need a couple days I couldn't resist pulling one off and eating it up. So sweet and delicious!
After my hard labour The brush Off I thought I deserved a brew,so retreated to the back garden along with a book I bought (50p) from the cafe at the hospital where I had a check up earlier in the week. I know nothing about poetry and am not much of a reader but some of these poems are sooooo funny and really make you chuckle so again I got the urge to photograph a short one.
Sitona lineatus. There are not many insects to be found at this time of year, but I came across this today while rooting around in leaf litter. It's only about 4-5 mm long.

My wife made this lovely pot of soup, yesterday and the finished article was delicious!!

My first attempt at green pea soup, with dried shiitake mushroom cream. Always thought that green peas were fairly insipid as a side vegetable - remember how we use to count our peas as a kid before popping them into our mouth.
Cooked and pureed, the entire essence of fresh green peas is captured in that single spoonful of soup. The shiitake cream adds a nice earthy punch to the soup.

Sugar snap peas are currently in season in Southern Wisconsin. They are sweet, juicy, crispy, and delicious! We have some every night for dinner.
Pultenea sp. The leaves were shorter than the other bush peas I had seen which I thought to be Pultenea linophylla but I cannot find an I.D. for these I am 100% confident on, so any assistance much appreciated! Found at Mount Riverview, lower Blue Mountains, NSW.
May 6. There's acutally peas, chard and beets in this bed. The peas are along the outside of the bed.

Isn’t it interesting how often we name colors after foods? And how passionately we will debate the exact shade and its proper name?
I overdyed this blue skirt with golden yellow. I was hoping for a more muted, olive shade. The result is closer to pea soup green. I’m curious to see how it will fade. Maybe I’ll get olive drab, after all.

This recipe from 101cookbooks makes enough filling for two 12-oz packages of wonton wrappers.
They're totally delicious, but I made the mistake of eating a big plate of them for dinner after making them all afternoon. So I'm overpea'ed and don't want to eat any for awhile. :-(
Heidi is right, they do freeze beautifully.
Actually this is a follow up from the Pea picture I took a few weeks ago.
