Santa Cruz Island was the largest privately owned island off the continental United States, but is currently part-owned by the National Park service (NPS owns 24%, and the Nature Conservancy owns 76%). The island, located off the coast of California, is 22 miles (35 km) long and from 2 to 6 miles (3.2 to 9.7 km) wide. It is part of the northern group of the Channel Islands of California, and at 61,764.6 acres (249.952 km2) or 96.507 sq mi) is the largest of the eight islands in the chain. Santa Cruz Island is located within Santa Barbara County, California. The coastline has steep cliffs, gigantic sea caves, coves, and sandy beaches.
A central valley splits the island along the Santa Cruz Island Fault, with volcanic rock on the north and older sedimentary rock on the south.
Santa Cruz is the only place where the Island Scrub Jay is found.
Today, the island sees many tourists brought here by Island Packers, which lands at Smugglers Cove and Scorpion Anchorage in the National Park.
Although Santa Cruz Island is included within the boundaries of Channel Islands National Park, The Nature Conservancy portion of the island does not belong to the park. A transfer of 8,500 acres (34 km2) from the Nature Conservancy to the park was completed in 2000.
Channel Islands National Park owns and operates approximately 24% of Santa Cruz Island. The remaining land is managed by a combination of organizations which includes The Nature Conservancy, the University of California Field Station, and the Santa Cruz Island Foundation.

I know it had mixed reactions, but I love the 2010 Aliens Vs. Predator video game. One of my favorite characters in the game was Corporal Teresa “Tequila” Aquila. She was smart, strong, and wasn’t afraid to tackle with some xenos. I love the character, and I love the idea of expanding the ranks, so I just had to customize her. Tequila is made using the upper body (and upper legs) from a NECA Portal 2 Chell figure, with the lower legs, armor, and pulse rifle from a NECA Aliens Corporal Hicks. I pored over several screenshots of the Tequila character from the Aliens Vs. Predator video game to make sure I got this custom down as accurately as possible. She had several personal details on her armor in the game, as well as tattoos, that I replicated here. I weathered the armor and decals to look realistic, and painted her pants to look like what a Colonial Marine would wear. I had to so some tailoring on the armor to get it to fit right, and then I added some straps, gave her a shoulder lamp and pulse rifle, and now Corporal Tequila is ready to go bug stomping!

(a.k.a. my bedroom) we pitched for a few more projects this afternoon and needless to say had a ball preparing for it. blazey made the discovery that are slowly developing a trend for wearing ridiculous outfits the while getting things ready. i would normally have on the buckeye necklace, but i was trying to win today...
I own the art on the easel.These paintings were done by one of my best friends, Eric Bowman. We were both commercial artists for decades before he gave it up to be a ‘fine artist’. Boy was that a smart descision on his part. He’s now one of the world’s top Western artists, winning gold awards and selling out shows consistantly.
I got his ‘OK’ to put his art on this site. And yes I took all these photos. These are all oil paintings.
At Highcliffe Castle in Highcliffe near Christchurch, Dorset.
The Castle burnt down in the late 1960s. And since the late 1970s has been owned by Christchurch Borough Council, who have since restored it.
Highcliffe Castle is a Grade I listed building.

The original house here was built about 1775 for the third Earl of Bute either
by Robert Adam or by Capability Brown, but it did not stand on the excat site of
the present building and was demolished in 1794. It was replaced by a nondescript
building which in its turn was demolished in 1830. The present Highcliffe Castle
was built by Lord Stuart de Rothesay in 1830-34. The architect was W J Donthorne
who collaborated with Lord Stuart de Rothesay. The design incorporated materials
from the Hotel des Andelys near Rouen in Normandy, where Antoine de Bourbon, the
father of Henri IV died in 1562. Lord Stuart de Rothesay when returning to England
on his retirement from the British Embassy in Paris in 1830, saw the house being
demolished, bought it and had it shipped down the Scine and across to this site,
where it was re-erected.
The building forms a large L. It is built of rosy-tinged ashlar and has 2 storeys
and basement. The north or entrance front is dominated by the great Gothic porte
cochere archway at least 30 ft high flanked by ribbed octagonal buttresses with
a gable between surmounted by a pierced parapet. Beneath the archway is a groined
vaulted roof an elaborate carved doorway and a tall 5-light pointed window over
it. The east wing which is to the left of this porte cochere has a terrace over
an enclosed forecourt containing the obtusely-pointed windows of the basement.
The ground floor of the wing has 5 casement windows of 3 tiers of 2 lights each
with depressed heads, the top tier of lights lighting an entresol. Cornice and
parapet above ground floor. The first floor is set back with a flat walk on the
roof of the ground floor in front of it, terminating at the east end in a rectangular
tower of 1 window with rectangular or octagonal buttress at the angles and parapet
between. Beyond the tower the ground floor only, without basement, projects and
has 6 more windows, the 3 easternmost ones in a canted bay. The west front is
made up of the hall at the north end. This has 4 buttresses and a narrow half-octagonal
oriel window at the north end, 4 lancet windows at first floor level, and a pierced
parapet surmounted by finials. At the south end of the front is a rectangular
projection at right angles, with one window on each front and parapet over with
octagonal corbel cupolas at the angles. Its west face has projecting oriel window
on ground floor and elaborate window of 2 tiers of 4 lights above. At the south
end of the south wing is an L-shaped projection on the ground floor only which
was a garden-room, or conservatory and chapel combined, Its south front is entirely
made up of windows with a huge bay in the centre approached by 7 steps. The south-east
side of the Castle shows its L-plan but the angle is partly filled in so that this
front gives somewhat the impression of 3 sides of octagon. The centre has 3 windows
with flat heads on both floors. Pierced parapet over containing the words "Suave
mari magno turbantibus aequora ventise terra magnum alterius spectare laborem"
in it. On each side of this is a tower at a slight angle to centre portion. The
east one is of 3 storeys flanked by octagmml buttresses with a 4-light window
on each floor. The west one has 2 storeys only, a round-headed archway forms a
porch on the ground floor and above the elaborate carved oriel window from the
Manoir d' Andelys in which Henri IV stood while he waited for his father Antoine
de Bourbon die. On each side of the oriel is tracery buttresses. On each side
of these east and south towers are wings of ground floor height only which are
again at an angle to the towers. These wings are alike and have 3 windows of 2
tiers of 2 lights. Pierced parapet over surmounted by finials above the angles
of the bays. All the windows in the Castle are casement windows with stone mullions
and transom. The interior contains French C18 panelling marble chimney-pieces.
The chief feature of the interior is the hall (the double staircase has now been
removed). This formerly led from the hall to the principal bedroom, in which the
Emperor William II of Germany slept when he rented the house during his "rest-cure"
in 1907.

Hierfür gibt es Händler in allen größeren Städten, die vorgefertigte Teile wie die Karosserie (meist Edelstahl) sowie Rahmen anbieten.
Die weiteren Teile (Motor, Achsen, Bremsen etc.) werden in Gebrauchtteile-Handlungen ("Surplus Shops") erworben oder von Schlachtfahrzeugen demontiert. Die Anpassung nicht-passender Teile erfolgt in speziellen "Machine Shops" (Werkstätten), dort werden alle Teile auf Wunsch verändert bzw. mit anderen Passungen und Gewinden versehen.
Diese Fahrzeuge sind teilweise in sehr aufwendiger Handarbeit mit Echtholzarmaturenbrettern, Stereoanlagen mit einer Vielzahl von Lautsprechern sowie einer Batterie von Zusatzscheinwerfern (6-10 Stück) veredelt.
Auf den Zentralphilippinen-Inseln werden seit langem auch japanische Fahrzeuge zu Jeepneys umgebaut. Hier sind auch Dieselmotoren verstärkt in Gebrauch.

Aktuell gibt es zwei Klassen von Jeepney-Erbauern auf den Philippinen. Die „Hinterhof-Schrauber“ bauen eines bis fünf Fahrzeuge im Monat, holen ihr Material von einem Wrack der etablierten Hersteller und arbeiten mit gebrauchten Antrieben und Chassis vom Schrottplatz, üblicherweise mit der Dieselmotoren-Serie 4BA des Isuzu C240 oder den Mitsubishi-Fuso-4D30-Motoren, einer Weiterentwicklung früher Jeep-Antriebe.
Der zweite Typ Anbieter sind die Volumenhersteller. Es gibt zwei Untergruppen: die PUJ (Bus-Jeepney-Bauer), und die Firmen, die in großem Maßstab Blechteile pressen und auch komplette Fahrzeuge bauen.
Die Jeepney-Firmen waren früher zumeist um Cebu City, Las Pinas und Cavite konzentriert, aufgrund des Absatzrückgangs sind jedoch viele kleine Firmen aus dem Geschäft verschwunden. Der größte Hersteller von eigenhergestellten Jeeps auf den Philippinen ist David Motors Inc. in Quezon City, auf der Nordseite des Ballungsraumes Metro Manila. Der größte Hersteller von Jeeps im Oldtimer-Stil ist MD Juan.
Passagier-Jeepneys sehen sich zunehmenden Einschränkungen und Regulierungen zum Umweltschutz gegenüber, weil sie den Verkehr belasten und Mengen an Kraftstoff verbrauchen. Eine kürzlich verörffentlichte Studie in einer Zeitung von Metro Manila besagt, dass ein 16-sitziger Jeepney ähnlich viel Sprit verbrauche wie ein 54-Sitzer-Bus mit Klimaanlage. Weil die größeren Straßen verstopft sind von Jeepneys, die auf Beschäftigungssuche herumfahren, gibt es zunehmenden Druck, sie von den Straßen Manilas und anderer Städte zu entfernen.
Die Kosten für einen neuen Jeepney steigen auch aufgrund der gestiegenen Materialpreise für Stahl und der Notwendigkeit für neue Motoren, die Fahrzeuge anzutreiben. Die Unterstützung zur Instandsetzung älterer Motoren verschwindet langsam, weil das Alter seinen Tribut fordert und die Anzahl von Fabriken, die Motoren instandsetzen, zurückgeht.
Das Jeepney-Geschäft auf den Philippinen kämpft mit importierten Gebrauchtwagen, und viele Hersteller schwenken um auf modern aussehende Jeepneys mit einer „Hummer“- oder Toyota-Front. Die Jeepney-Industrie hat sich in den vergangenen zwei Jahren schneller verändert als in den 50 Jahren zuvor. Die verchromte und laute Ikone wird bald ein Vehikel aus der Vergangenheit sein.

Diese Fahrzeugkategorie ist in letzter Zeit im Rückgang begriffen, da Gebrauchtfahrzeuge aus Nachbarländern billiger angeboten werden.
Allerdings lassen sich Jeepneys aufgrund der alten Bauweise und des separaten Fahrgestells sehr leicht instandhalten und sehr lange nutzen.

Designed by Frank Grad, the Essex House is one of the National Trust Historic Hotels, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Frank Grad also designed the Newark Symphony Hall. Some say the hotel's name derives from Mr. Grad’s primary residence in Essex County, New Jersey.
Originally called Park Tower and then Seville Towers, the 40-story, Art Deco hotel tower opened along Central Park South in October 1931. The hotel’s first general manager, Albert Auwaerter, threw a grand opening party for 1,000 in the hotel’s Colonnades Ballroom.
By 1932 the hotel was known as the Essex House and the six-story Essex sign was erected on top of the hotel. Still today some claim the sign is offensively too large and blight on the city’s skyline.
The building is clad in brown brick with large guestroom windows and decorated setbacks. The lobby has massive fluted columns of black marble and it extends through the block as a corridor flanked by the elevator banks. Its main entrance has Art Deco gilded doors.
In 1932 the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) took title to the Essex House and retained ownership for fifteen years. Congress established the RFC in 1932 to provide liquidity and restore confidence in the banking system to offset the Great Depression.
George Burns and Gracie Allen lived at the Essex House in 1934; Betty Grable and Milton Berle were residents in the 1940s. British TV host Sir David Frost owned a 1,200 sq ft pied a terre in the Essex House during the 1990s. More recent tenants have included Angelina Jolie (penthouse at the top), Jude Law, and Samuel L. Jackson.
In the 1930s the Essex House featured a “strollers brunch” - so called for those completing a Sunday morning walk in Central Park. This leisurely meal, served from around noon to late afternoon, evolved in to the Sunday brunch.
In 1946 Samuel H. Golding, founder of Sterling National Bank and Trust Company, purchased the Essex House. At the time of his death in 1970, Samuel H. Golding was 84 years old and lived in the Essex House at 160 Central Park South. Golding’s wife, Rachel Golding, gifted to Yeshiva University $40 million in memory or her late husband Samuel H. Golding. At the time of the gift in 1992, Yeshiva had an endowment of just $293 dollars. Yeshiva is America's oldest and largest university under Jewish auspices.
Marriott purchased the hotel in 1969.

The restaurant outlets during the 1970’s at Marriott’s Essex House included Kings Wharf Restaurant, Windjammer Bar and for Marriott, the futuristically named - Fairfield Inn Coffee Shop.
Many remember from 1970’s the TV announcer Don Pardo would proclaim that "guests of Saturday Night Live stay at the Essex House!"
Japan Air Lines Development (U.S.A.) Inc., a subsidiary of the Tokyo based national carrier bought the hotel in 1985. Its hotel affiliate Nikko Hotels International took over management and renamed the 715-room hotel - Essex House Hotel Nikko NY.
The Essex House was to be a springboard for Nikko’s future growth.In 1991, Japan Airlines spent more than $75 million in renovating the property. The room count was reduced to 580.
According to the NY Times the renovation included widening the lobby looking out on Central Park, with added seating and the reclaiming of windows in that area that in earlier renovations had been put to other uses. The entire plumbing, wiring, heating, air-conditioning and elevator systems were to be replaced.
Chef Christian Delouvrier opened the 75 seat French restaurant, Les Celebrites (previously Devereux’s on-the-Park) with a $70 average ticket. The hotel’s moderately priced restaurant was Café Botanica. Delouvrier previously served as executive chef at the Parker Meridien's French restaurant, Maurice.
Nikko hired Pierre Yves Rochon of Paris to serve as the interior designer. Brennan Beer Gorman was the architect for the restoration, and the contractor was Tishman Construction Company.
In March 1999 the 597-room Essex House was sold for $260,000,000 ($435,511 per room) to Strategic Hotel Capital. SHC retained Starwood Hotels to manage the hotel renamed: Essex House, A Westin Hotel, New York City.
In September 2000 Starwood created The St. Regis Club at the Essex House - a hotel within a hotel - that comprised the top floors and had 104 rooms, a restaurants and a lounge.
In September 2005, the Dubai Investment Group paid $440 million to acquire the hotel portion of the building that consisted of two components the 501-room Westin and the 104-room St. Regis. There were approximately 148 private residential condominiums located throughout the building and individually owned, of which 139 were not included in the sale.
To appease the unions Dubai Investment stated it would limit the conversion of guest rooms to condominiums to 15%. The unions believe any reduction in the guest room count would eliminate hotel jobs.
Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts took over management in January 2006. The Dubai-based hotel management group also manages The Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, the sail-shaped hotel tower that has become the icon of Dubai and some say is the world's finest hotel. The property was renamed Jumeirah Essex House.
In 2006 Dubai Investment Group contracted Atlanta-based Hirsch Bedner Associates to lead the $90 million renovation and reimagining of the hotel. All the guest rooms and suites were refurbished and many were expanded.
The 509 guest rooms include 301 Essex House Rooms which are around 300 sq ft and do not have views of Central Park. The remaining 208 rooms are larger including suites and have views of Central Park or the Manhattan skyline.
The restaurant, Alain Ducasse at Essex House closed in January 2007.
Chef Kerry Heffernan opened 154 South Gate at Jumeirah Essex House in 2008. A Culinary Institute of America graduate, Heffernan previously was opening Executive Chef and eventually partner at Union Square Hospitality Group’s Eleven Madison Park. South Gate is not your regular hotel-restaurant. Tony Chi and Associates designed the restaurant/lounge sleek interior. The opening of South Gate marked the completion of Jumeirah Essex House’s $90 million refurbishment.

The Otter Crest tide pools are considered to be some of Oregon’s most prolific and are accessible at low tide every day. The Inn’s private stairway leads to the beach and tide pools. Otter Crest Beach is a popular place to pick up many colored pebbles and agates. A stroll southward from the stairs takes you past a small waterfall to the cave entrance of the Devil’s Punchbowl, a natural formation that can be entered at low tide.

A 10 minute walk through our preserve takes you to Beverly Beach and the village of Otter Rock. Beverly Beach is a wide and pristine beach that extends from Otter Rock for 5 uninterrupted miles to the Yaquina Head light house. Surfers are present almost every day near the Otter Rock access. And it’s a great place to fly a kite.

Beverly Beach is thought to be one of the best places along the coast to pick up agates and fossils. About 15 million years ago many forms of shelled creatures were buried in the sandstone that is now exposed as cliffs along the beach. This winter an ancient stump washed in and lodged just below the Devil’s Punchbowl State Park. The snapshot shown here was taken in May. Another stump is on display at the Beverly Beach State Park about a mile south. It was carbon dated as being 4,200 years old.

In Otter Rock is the Devil’s Punchbowl State Park with views into the Punchbowl, a collapsed sea cave. Whale watching is popular here and official whale watch stations are set up during the major whale migrations.

Otter Rock is home to the country’s western-most winery. Established in 1997 this small winery has gained national recognition for their unique method of fermenting their wines under the ocean’s salt spray. The Flying Dutchman Winery is open every day from 11 am to 6 pm during the summer months and 11 am to 5 pm the remainder of the year. Also in Otter Rock is an Oregon Coast icon, Mo’s Seafood Restaurant. Known for their chowder, Mo’s has been delighting seafood aficionados for many years.
Perhaps the most photographed attraction on the entire Oregon Coast is JoAnn’s 1934 Dodge Ice Cream and Espresso Truck. She, too, is an Otter Rock icon serving up lattes, espresso, ice cream and her ever present smile.

This weekend marks the 9th anniversary of this personal project Mrs Wolf and I embarked on. Originally we wanted to shoot one set for each pair of boots she owned, sort of like an online gallery or catalogue. She owns well over 500 pairs ranging from vintage 80s Thigh boots to more recent acquisitions.
We are avid thrift store hunters and always find new pairs to bring home.
That original idea morphed into its own life form, if you scroll back to our earliest albums you'll see how we tried to make one set per pair plus some group photos of productive thrift store days.
We are both heavily involved in the BDSM lifestyle, so after a while we started offering glimpses into our other art. progressively Mrs Wolf started thinking up more and more themes and things really took on a life of their own....gone was the idea of one set per pair and in came so much more.
All photos of Mrs Wolf are accurate, she is a genuine Switch, she is Dominant with others and only submits to me. I am strictly Dominant. Mrs Wolf is a certified weldor, so along the way some photos of her welding were taken, she shoots at the range with me so there are photos of her with handguns and rifles mixed in.
We have never resorted to nudity and never will, what we hope to do however, is to tell a story with our photos. I have been going through the archives recently finding photos not yet uploaded while she was recovering from a recent surgery. An incomplete castle hand-built by one man, and later blessed by the Lord. Themed rooms include a throne room and dungeon. The edifice dominates the scenery on the land owned by Banks on Lee Shirley Road in Greenback. The structure is over 20 feet high and around 200 feet long.

The work on the Fortress began in December 1993. Banks, known by family and friends as the “Castle Man,” said he started the endeavor out of pride. “I was selfish and built the castle for myself,” he said. “In 2003, I discovered I had been wrong. God wanted me to build the Fortress for (divine) reasons. The construction is His will.”
Bobby Long, 70, is a friend to Banks. Both graduated from Lanier High School in 1964. Long lost contact with Banks until he began looking for him for the 50-year high school reunion in 2014. “I found Junior, and we have renewed our friendship,” Long said. “I asked Junior about the blueprints for the Fortress. He told me the plans were from the Almighty.”

Long helps Banks by providing supplies for the construction of the Fortress. “I don’t do any work on the building, but I do get supplies such as brick, cement and block,” Long said. “The castle is very sturdy and should stand for years.”
Stone crosses can be found throughout the exterior and interior of the castle. Several walkways of the Fortress have arrowheads fused within brick and/or stone. Three wooden crosses are outside, beside the pet cemetery. Over 10 crosses mark the graves. “Most of the animals buried in the pet cemetery were pets,” Banks said.
The circular room of the castle is adorned with blue, painted crosses on the wall. A wooden stairway spirals to the second floor, which is still under construction. “I keep the stairway blocked off,” Banks said. “It is coming along, but there are spots on the second level that a person could fall through if they weren’t careful.”
Over 50 images in the form of silhouettes adorn the overall structure of the Fortress. Banks said he is not responsible for the silhouettes. “The (silhouette) images have appeared at various times over the years,” he said. “The images don’t have lines, and all of my art has lines. I believe the images are holy signs and messages.”
There are a few areas which contrast the overall theme of the castle, such as the room known as the Hell Room. The room has chains and whips on the wall, accompanied by the silhouette of some sort of creature. There is also a wall on the castle’s exterior covered with Egyptian hieroglyphs. “The (Egyptian wall) has been here for a while, but I just recently started repainting and adding to it,” Banks said. “Many visitors have given positive comments about the hieroglyphs. It isn’t something they see on a daily basis.”
Banks said the castle has spirits. “I think my brother, Randal, is here sometimes,” Banks said. “Randal died years ago. I put his chess set in one of the rooms — it has a stone table and two stone chairs. I think his spirit visits the room. I also believe the spirit of God is always (covering) the Fortress.”
The castle is open to the public during the day, yet is off limits at night. “The castle is always under construction,” Banks said. “It is easy to stumble around in the dark on the inside and outside of the Fortress. I don’t allow night visits for the sake of safety.”
Vandalism is another reason the castle is closed after dusk. “Three months ago stone crosses in front of the castle were knocked over,” Banks said. “Now I rope the castle off at night to keep vandals away.”
The Fortress receives hundreds of visitors each year. “People come from all over the world to see the Fortress of Faith,” Banks said. “They sign a visitor’s logbook I have inside. It is nice to see that so many people make the time to visit the castle.”
Banks is recovering from eye surgery. Presently, he is not doing any physical labor with the construction of the Fortress. However, he does have a few helping hands. “I have grandchildren, and they are doing the heavy lifting right now,” Banks said. “As soon as I heal, I will get back to the task of building the castle.”

25 things about me, tagged by Lizz and Haley. I think I did one of these a few years ago on Flickr, so I hope I don’t repeat myself!
1. I own too many dolls. Really, far too many. But I can’t bear selling them. I do it at times out of absolute necessity, but I really, really hate it!
2. I like to run. I started it about a year and a half ago because I’d had a bad break-up six months previously and needed to focus my mind on something. It’s become a bit of an obsession – I ran a marathon this year, and I find that my mood can be almost wholly dependent on how well my running is going (I’m not always nice to be around when I’m injured!)
3. I’m obsessed with mirrors. I’m either avoiding them completely, or scanning my reflection repeatedly, depending on my mood. In restaurants I try not to sit opposite a window I can see myself in, as I get distracted by looking at my reflection, and it’s kind of embarrassing!
4. I’m really retarded with toothpaste tubes, the kind with the pump on. I break tube after tube, I can’t understand how I have a degree but can’t work a toothpaste tube.
5. I like to wear bright colours, I’m definitely not one of those people who lives in black. In fact, I mostly dislike black being close to my face, because I think it washes me out. The only colour I won’t wear is lilac (for the very same reason).
6. Although I wear bright colours on the outside, my taste in underwear is extremely dull and practical. I favour flesh-coloured T-shirt bras, and no-VPL knickers, much to the disappointment of many a boyfriend!
7. My pet hate in people is flakiness (in terms of personality, not dandruff – though I don’t like that much either). Sadly, flaky people seem to disguise themselves rather well, so I end up befriending them, only to realise further down the line that they’re completely useless.
8. I’m severely body dysmorphic and worry about whether or not I look fat every single day. It’s nauseating – things are nowhere near as bad as they were when I was in my early-20s, but I still wish it could be better.
9. I still watch Neighbours. I find it hilarious (in a ridiculous way) and I really, really want to go to Melbourne and go on the Neighbours trail. I would be sooo excited to meet the cast members!!
10. In addition to Neighbours, I still watch Home and Away. I also watch 90210, and latterly, One Tree Hill. Oh yes, I watch some very bad TV.
11. I want to kill the couple on the match.com ad, who “like old movies, like The Godfather 3” (it’s on right now). They’re dreadful, and I hope they don’t breed.
12. I plan to train as a pilates instructor next year. I’ve become obsessed with the benefits of core strength, so I figure that I may as well teach it to others (rather than boring people about it in general conversation like I do now!)
13. When I move in with my boyfriend next year, the first thing I want to buy is a ragdoll kitten.

15. At the moment I work three days a week from home, and two in the office. I have a horrible habit of doing no work at all on a Monday (in fact, I’ve done just that today) which makes the rest of my week suck. I never learn!
16. Although I’m not mad about chocolate, I have become oddly addicted to chocolate-covered rice cakes. They are yummy!
17. I’m a bit OCD about certain things. If I’m watching the TV, the volume has to be on a number that is divisible by five. I eat crisps in fives too. My boyfriend finds it hilarious to put the volume on 14 and hide the remote, or feed me six crisps then run off with the bag.
18. I’m absolutely starving right now. All the running means that I have to eat really often, and that I get maaaad if I can’t eat when I need to!
19. I think that the two most overrated celebrities of the last fifteen years have been Cheryl Cole and Princess Diana.
20. I really like guinea pigs. I had them when I was small and they lit up my world, I squeal whenever I see a picture of guinea pigs because I think they are so lovely. I couldn’t own them again though, as they don’t live long and would break my heart after just a very few years.
21. I don’t Twitter, because some random girl in the US already has the ID “Blondiepops” and I stubbornly refuse to call myself anything else.
22. I hate religion. Hate it. It’s done so much harm in the world that the word pretty much leaves me cold.
23. The above pic is of me with my Grandma. She was fantastic, and had the best Scottish accent in the world. She passed away in 2008, and I miss her.
24. I am experiencing big love for vintage Christmas decorations this year.
25. Now that I have written this, I am off to de-box some new dolls, then go to a pilates class. Both of which are very “me” activities!

Hobbs’ House, formerly Lochiel Park when owned by David Mundy, aka Brookway Park when owned by the South Australian Government.
The imposing two storey ‘Hobbs’ House’ (formerly known as ‘Lochiel Park’) was built by retired sheep farmer David Mundy, who acquired the Lochiel Park property in 1875.
In 1898 he sold the estate to his neighbour Jonah Hobbs (1836–1913), a prominent local fruit grower and orchardist.
The Hobbs family occupied the estate even after it was sold to the South Australian Government in 1947 and used as a junior boys’ reformatory home.
Arnold Hobbs remained at ‘Lochend House’ as manager of the property until 1957.
Hobbs House has been owned and occupied by the South Australia’s Department for Families and Communities. [Ref: Story Board]
Lochiel Park House was built on part of the property originally owned by Charles James Fox Campbell. His home ‘Lochend House’ was also on part of the selection.
Campbell leased Lochend to James Scott who purchased the property in 1858.
One of Scott’s daughters, Mrs Jessie Macdonald, sold the property to David Mundy of Paratoo Station, Terowie.
Mundy built ‘Lochiel Park’ house in 1877 at a cost of £3,000. David Mundy and his brother William were the original owners of Mundi Mundi Station near Cockburn.
David Mundy and his wife worshipped at St Martin’s Anglican Church in Campbelltown. He donated the land for the church hall. He and his wife eventually shifted to their home ‘Ellangowan’ at St Peters. They also owned a property at Largs Bay, ‘Durnford House’ which was later part of an orphanage.
On purchase Jonah Hobbs promptly changed the name ‘Lochiel Park’ to ‘Hobbs’ House’.
Hobbs had arrived in South Australia on the ‘Harry Lorrequor’ on 26 December 1849, with his parents and siblings.
He went on to become a member of the Agricultural and Horticultural Society, a Director of the East End Market Company, and a member of the Payneham District Council. He was also a member and supporter of the Payneham and Campbelltown Wesleyan Churches.
In 1947 the State Government purchased Hobbs House and its 52 acres. The idea was to provide young boys with a home and to teach them gardening and fruit growing.
The property was named ‘Brookway Park’ by the State Government: it is still owned by the Government.
‘Lochend House’ is owned by the City of Campbelltown.

Parham Park is an Elizabethan house in Cootham, between Storrington and Pulborough, West Sussex, South East England, originally owned by the Monastery of Westminster and GRANTED to Robert Palmer by King Henry VIII in 1540.
History[edit]
The foundation stone was laid in 1577 by the 2-year-old Thomas Palmer, and Parham has been a family home ever since. Thomas Bishopp (later Sir Thomas Bishopp, 1st Baronet) bought Parham House in 1597. For 325 years his descendants CONTINUED to live at Parham House Estate until January 1922. Then in 1922 the Hon. Clive Pearson, younger son of Viscount Cowdray, bought Parham from Mary,17th Baroness Zouche in her own right,[1] and he and his wife Alicia opened the house to visitors in 1948, after the Second World War when it had also been home to evacuee children and Canadian soldiers. Off the Long Gallery at the top of the house there is an exhibition which touches on the period between 1922 and 1948, with many family photographs as well as photographs of the building works which took place during that time.
This Churchill MK2 Tank has stood in this location on Kithurst Hill West Sussex (in several DIRECTIONS) for over 70 years. Used for target practice by Canadian troops based at Parham during WW2.
Mr and Mrs Pearson, followed by their daughter Veronica Tritton, spent more than 60 years carefully RESTORING Parham and filling it with a sensitively chosen collection of beautiful old furniture, paintings and textiles, also acquiring items originally in the house. There is a particularly important collection of early needlework. What they created at Parham is a rare survival of mid 20th Century connoisseurship within a major Elizabethan house.
Now owned by a charitable trust, Parham House and Gardens are surrounded by some 875 acres (3.54 km2) of working agricultural and forestry land.

Around the house stretches 300 acres (1.2 km2) of ancient deer park whose Fallow Deer are descendants of the original herd first recorded in 1628. This area had been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.[2] It has special biological interest for its epiphytic lichen flora, as an area for two rare beetles and its large heronry.
Owned by eldest sister and her then husband, who gave it a '1990s' feel by colour coding the bumpers.
Coincidentally, our other sister expressed an interest in buying the same car to replace her rotting Escort. IIRC, In 1991 this Corolla was up for sale for around £2,995 at Kennings. The mileage was a bit on the high side (80,000+).
Not sure about the Bluebird next to it. Possibly the next door neighbour's.

What I've learned so far;
This is the story of some Dutch young men and their friends before and during WW2.
The album is a bit chaotic, pictures from very different years and locations have been mixed up.
It starts as a holiday album but either the album has been put back together in the wrong order or maybe later older photos were added because the owner didn't or couldn't use another album.
In 1936 there was a holiday to Hilvarenbeek. Heerlen and Arnhem, when the original owner of the album might have stayed at a youth hostel.
In 1939 they went on holiday to Belgium.
Pictures taking during that holiday show "father and mother" at the Gordelweg, but I am not sure if these are indeed the parents of the album owner because sometimes at youth hostels that is what they call(ed) the hosts.
I think they stayed at a youth hostel in Belgium at the Gordelweg and Talmastraat.
Pictures in this album were taken in Voorburg, Moordrecht, Namen, Dinant, Roermond, Bruxsells, Gileppe, The Hague, Blijdorp, Vise, Gouda, Heerlen, Klimmen, Rockanje, Rotterdam, Mechelen,
In March 1940 there is a picture of a young man in a Dutch army uniform.
It seems like our album owner or someone close to him was mobilised.
Later there is a photo of a monument for the dead of the May 1940 invasion and another photo of another soldier.
There is a group photo of Dutch soldiers next to a photo of a wooden gate with flowers and wreathes in front of it.
In 1944 a picture was taken in Bussum.
Also in 1944 the owner of our album was forced to do manual labour for the German occupier, a picture of the group he was in was taken on the day of the invasion.
There are two pictures of young men with names, Wim and Frans Engelbregt.
I've found Wim in the NIOD war archives because he kept heavily illustrated diaries that are part of the collection there.
He writes a lot about summer holidays in the south of the Netherlands.
This all matches the album rather perfectly so I am assuming this album belonged to Wim or someone very close to him.
In 1944 there is a sports event for people involved with the food distribution in The Hague in 1944.
Which sounds like a job that could have kept Wim safe from being ordered to do forced labour by the Germans, but it seems like it wasn't or maybe Wim did something else that got him in trouble because there are two photos of Wim as a skipper in 1944, but it is a cover.
He is pretending to be one to hide from the Germans, we call that "diving under", he probably did this to avoid being send to Germany for forced labour.
One photo shows Frans in German in 1944 in a dark room, it could be a barack, was he caught and forced to work in Germany or did he volunteer?
Is this the reason Wim went into hiding?
There is a family photo lf the Engelbregt family.
From the archives I know the sister is called Regina.
There is also a photo of Mr & Mrs. Engelbregt Sr. in Gouda, who appears to be the grandparents of our album owner.
There's another name, a young man with a bicycle called Dick Steensma, near Blijdorp in 1936.
There is a couple called Rien and Annie who live in Moordrecht.
I think it is Wim who dressed up as Black Piet in two nice Saint Nicolas group photos.
There are also two group photos showing office staff and finally the album ends with a photo of a bearded man at a hostel in Vieuxville in 1939.
So I think this album likely belonged to Wim Engelbregt.
If it is him, he was born in 1920 in Rotterdam, got his bookkeeping diploma in 1939 and became an assistant accountant.
His father lost his store during the German bombing of this city in 1940.
His best friend To died during another bombing.
The albums, letters, drawings and postcards that are stored at the NIOD can only be viewed with special permission.

I kind of changed the idea behind my talisman necklaces this time. I've been really sucked into the message behind my inlaid river rock necklaces... "own your breath." The backs of these necklaces have been decorated with, "own this moment" and "own this breath." My hope that when the wearer has this necklace on that he or she will feel strong and will remember that they have the power over this moment and this breath. That no one else can effect their energy... that their reaction to a situation determines their everything. That they do not need to be controlled by or impacted by the negativity that they are surrounded by. That another man or woman can throw their name in the mud, can lie, can try to hurt them, and that they can either walk into the fire or they can walk through it. This necklace reminds them that happiness is found when choosing the latter. The harder of the two for certain, but the one that offers expansion of heart, soul, and mind. You are a force... a beautiful fucking force. Own every breath, and you shall see.

Admiral Edward Hawker of England had owned property in NSW since the 1820s when the old restrictive penal colony of NSW was opened up more widely to settlement. In 1838 James Hawker (born in 1820) arrived in SA as his father back in England was an investor in the Secondary Towns Association of SA which was about to let John Morphett, on their behalf, pay £8,000 for two Special Surveys – one at Currency Creek which they believed was destined to become the New Orleans of the South and the other along the Light River from the town of Waterloo to Hamilton near Kapunda. Currency Creek never amounted to much or made huge profits for the investors but the Light River valley survey did. James Hawker began work with Governor Gawler with whom he had voyaged out to SA. He soon escaped from Government House and started working with survey teams around Adelaide and the Onkaparinga region. James Hawker returned to England in early 1840 and immediately came back to SA as his brothers George and Charles had already left for SA. When the three brothers met in 1841 they took charge of their father’s lands- 320 acres on the Murray, 320 acres on the Para River, town blocks in Wellington and Currency Creek and in Adelaide itself. With their Vice Regal connections and the friendship of Frederick Dutton they were well set up to prosper in the new colony. They purchased a large flock of sheep overlanded from NSW and squatted near Captain Bagot’s land at Kapunda. Later in 1841 they visited Edward Gleeson’s station at Clare and John Horrock’s station at Penwortham. From their base near Horrock’s station they searched for new lands and eventually settled on spring fed lands near the Hutt River a few miles north of Clare in late December 1841. They named their property Bungaree. The first few months saw frequent troubles between the Hawkers and the Ngadjuri Aboriginal people so in mid-1842 Matthew Moorhouse the Protector of Aborigines visited the station. Tensions eased with the appointment of an Aboriginal police officer in the short term but sheep stealing and attacks on shepherds continued and the police attended whenever shots were fired but there were no reported deaths. By mid-1842 the Hawkers owned a section of land around their head station and they had applied for a leasehold of their run. This was not formally granted until 1846 for an area of about 100 square miles. They began exporting their wool in 1842 and the property was gradually developed and built up with land later being purchased freehold when it was put up for sale for farming in the 1850s and 1860s to eventually create a freehold estate of 130,000 acres. Their first wheat crops were planted in 1843 along with barley, oats and potatoes. At that time Bungaree was the furthest station from Adelaide and it took three days on horseback or seven days in a wagon to reach the town of Adelaide. At that time (1843) the brothers split their partnership. James Hawker preferred to live in Adelaide and Charles Hawker took out a new lease on adjoining Anama station of 160 square miles.
George married in 1845 bringing his new bride Elizabeth back to Bungaree homestead. Bungaree became a domestic place and soon there were 16 Hawker children from George’s marriage! The first was born in 1846 and the last in 1868 thus keeping Elizabeth Hawker and her maids and staff very busy. (Only one died in childhood.) The early 1842 homestead of Bungaree was added to many times turning it into a grand mansion. The house had to be enlarged over the years to provide rooms for the 16 children! The garden had sweeps of lawn, English trees and a large pond. A permanent spring nearby provided water for the garden and house and four gardeners tended the garden. The Hawker’s town house was The Briars, in Hawker Avenue, Medindie. George Hawker purchased the land there in 1856 and had a 15 acre block at Medindie. At the same time the current two storey Bungaree homestead was built to replace the earlier “cottage” of three rooms with a detached kitchen. In the following year George purchased over 8,000 freehold acres at Bungaree. In that year, 1857, Bungaree station employed around 100 workers. The great woolshed and station store etc. were all built around 1858 to 1860. Major sections of the run were purchased freehold in 1860. In 1864 the Surveyor General George Goyder increased the annual lease rental of Bungaree from £488 a year to £3,472 per year!
Near the homestead is the station’s store, blacksmiths, the stables, coach houses, other outbuildings, workers cottages and homes and the huge woolshed. Bungaree was a fairly self-sufficient village with a school room for the children of the workers too. The Bungaree School operated from 1868 to 1931. The Hawker brothers assisted financially with the building of the Anglican Church in Clare in 1851(and it also had a government grant of money and land) but attending a service there by horse and cart was a three hour round trip plus the time at church. George Hawker began conducting services for the station employees in the woolshed with around 100 people attending so he decided to build a church on their estate. Bishop Short of Adelaide consecrated the church in 1864. It was designed by George Hawker’s brother-in-law Edward Hamilton a well-known Adelaide architect. In 1871 the church was donated to the local parish and the surrounding cemetery has been used by local residents as well as members of the Hawker family. Adelaide Hawker donated a pair of handmade wrought iron entrance gates from Milan in 1950 to replace the original wooden gates. The vast Bungaree estate was split up after George Hawker’s death in 1895 but not at first. Hawkers Brothers (there were 6 of them) partnership ran the properties from 1898 to 1906 when it was split into four – Bungaree (Richard and Harry Hawker); East Bungaree ( Edward and Walter Hawker); North Bungaree( Michael Hawker) and Anama( Walter and Edward Hawker). The great stud flock of sheep was also split as were the other assets and the far northern pastoral properties.

The U VIllage site layout is kind of odd -- QFC owns the land that their store is on, as well as a section to the side of it, where they recently built this parking garage. Meanwhile, the U Village mall management owns the parking lot in front of the store. This led to a bit of an issue when U VIllage was looking to develop this bit of land, which QFC didn't want. Meanwhile, QFC had once proposed to build a new mixed-use development, with housing and retail, on the site where they eventually just built this garage, which U Village wasn't happy with. In the end, everyone lost, I guess, since nothing much was ever built on either site.

Crab Plover (Dromas ardeola)
An unusual black and white wader with a large black bill and long, bluish-grey legs. Adult birds have a pure white head, body and wings, but with black flight feathers and mantle, whereas immature birds have dark streaking on the back of the head, grey mantle, wings and tail. Breeds on islands from Somalia, to the Red Sea and Persian Gulf between May and July, which is later than other shorebird species that may compete for its specialist food source. Outside the breeding season, the birds move south along the East African coast (mainly Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania) with some reaching the Seychelles, Comoros and Madagascar.
Given that these birds have such a relatively restricted range we consider ourselves lucky to have seen and photographed them on each of our last few annual visits to Bird Island. On each previous occasion there have only been 3-6 birds present on the island, whereas this year there were 7 birds during our first week with another 4 joining them towards the end of our stay. They generally keep together in a mixed group of sub-adult and immature birds, mainly just standing around, or patrolling the shoreline at low tide for crabs. They’re normally on the remotest part of the beach keeping themselves well away from human presence.
Last year I noted that the various shots we have of these birds may give the impression that they are easy to photograph – they’re not! Without doubt that was the same situation this year. In fact I managed far fewer shots than in previous years and hardly a single good flight shot. But, one afternoon I got lucky, and found the original group of 7 birds together on a part of the beach that catches the late afternoon sun. I was very fortunate as I was totally alone with these birds for almost an hour, slowly gaining their confidence as I edged closer. I managed to get quite a lot of pretty decent photos with detail I have not previously achieved. I will be lucky to have that opportunity again. I’ve limited myself here to just six photos - the first five were all taken within a few minutes of each other during that one session, with the other being a group photo of 5 birds, which shows the normal long distant quality of shot that you get.
