I went out for a sunrise and it didn't really happen, but I did one of my favourite series of shots I have taken.
Ohio River

It's not often the Ohio River spills over it's banks, but after a bunch of snowmelt and several inches of rain the river was at 58 ft. when this photograph was taken, 7 ft. over flood stage. In fact it had been almost 20 years since it had been this high. As usual, I was at the wrong place for sunset and by time I'd made it to a good place for a shot it was nearly gone. Nonetheless I really enjoyed the beauty of blue hour as the last light of sunset reflected in the distance.
Autumn mists overflowing the soft rural landscape of West Dorset. There are fields somewhere under that mist, not some reservoir! I like the way the two distant trees seem to stand on a new shoreline and the way the sky has retained the greens of the rest of the picture.
- I think I had timed my trip to the Isle of Skye well; as on the last night a hefty storm passed through and all the rivers and waterfalls were overflowing.
"Overflow:" (Hanging Gardens, West Clear Creek) Although this place is difficult to get to, I was extremely grateful that I was able to make it out here before the forest service put a closure order in effect due to a lightning-caused wildfire in the area. When the sun hits the water just right here, it seems to really shimmer and glow beautifully. I always love the yellow wildflowers that adorn the top of the mound of earth over which the water spills, albeit for a short time of the year.
The Overflowing Cup
"My cup runs over." Psalm 23:5
"My cup overflows." Psalm 23:5
"My cup overflows with blessings." Psalm 23:5
God's goodness to His people is meted out with no begrudged or measured hand. Our Shepherd is Divine, and Deity is the source, and Infinity the measure, of His supplies. "My cup runs over." This would appear the crown and climax of the blessings of which our Nightingale Psalmist had been sweetly singing. The Lord his Shepherd had given him not a full cup merely, but a brimmed one; not brimmed only, but overflowing; a cup like, and worthy of, Himself- "exceeding abundantly above all that he had asked or thought."
Bottoms reservoir, Tintwistle, overflowing after several days of heavy rain. The circular construction to the left is the gauging basin designed to allow a measured amount of water each day into the River Etherow to supply the needs of the many textile mills downstream of the reservoir. At the time of my visit it seemed there was more water than the infrastructure could cope with. I really wanted an aerial photo of the gauging basin which is completely circular as I thought would make a great picture but unfortunately it was raining (there’s a surprise!!!) so I was unable to launch my drone. Maybe next time!
Retained by an earth embankment. The reservoir has an estimated surface area of 115 acres with a capacity of 730 million gallons of fresh drinking water.
After these overflow steps, the water turns to Rye Water which runs south to Dalry, where it merges with the River Garnock.
Constructed by Paisley Water Works, completed in 1891.
The reservoir can be found on the A760 road between Kilbirnie and Largs.

I was taking a walk down to the overflow pods in Okotoks, Calgary when I came across two Mule Deer before I could set the camera one of them hurdles the fence. I was very fortunate to take this.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS, AWARDS AND FOR ANY INVITES.
As soon as I saw this place, I had to shoot it.
We got out and I quickly started setting up the tripod & camera but then we spotted security staring at us through one of the windows behind us; instinctively thinking that he would move us on - thankfully he seemed to be okay with it and left us alone long enough for me to get the shots I wanted. I'm so glad he did; I absolutely love how this scene turned out.

A tarn(?) above the Thirlmere reservoir with the waterfall you see on the bottom right flowing down to it.
As we walk further along the grass banking at Ogden we come to the overflow at the end of the reservoir. I think this view is lovely :-))
A three inch cistern overflow pipe on the spring that supplies water to my house. In the foreground are 4 stand pipes with curb stop valves down about 2 feet. The tee handle operates these valves. These allow stopping the flow to the house and drains for two, three hundred gallon cisterns.
We had some very heavy rain ... a month's worth in a day or two so the creek has overflowed and all the plants on the edges have been flattened.
