These past few years have been overwhelming- happy, emotional, intense, whole. Full of things and people and memories and sometimes it just doesn’t seem real. I’m lucky- but that doesn’t mean I escape the fate of having to deal with a fair share of obstacles.
With these obstacles, my biggest thing has been “no regrets”. C’est la vie. This is how its supposed to happen- or this is what were supposed to have faith in. Either way, you’re meant to take each day as it comes, and deal with the consequences, and learn the lessons, and know that underneath it all we are never alone. Its all you can ask for, and I’ll smile every time someone asks me what the words mean.

On January 14, 2016, during my US tour to highlight the importance of closing Guantánamo on and around the 14th anniversary of the prison's opening (on Jan. 11), I spoke at Revolution Books in harlem, and my friend and supporter, the music legend Roger Waters (ex-Pink Floyd) came along. Afterwards, I went with Roger as he rehearsed a version of "We Shall Overcome" with a 16-year old cellist, Alexander Rohatyn, to play the next day at Democracy Now! where I had arranged for us to be interviewed about the launch of my new initiative, the Countdown to Close Guantánamo, and where Roger and I also spoke about We Stand With Shaker, the campaign to free Shaker Aamer that Roger got very involved in. Dessau-Törten Housing Estate & Konsum building, Germany
During the Weimar Republic there was an acute shortage of affordable housing. Overcoming this shortage called for the involvement of the public sector in order to provide affordable housing under the premise of ‘light, air and sun’ for a large share of the population. The construction of the Dessau-Törten Housing Estate was thus commissioned by the city of Dessau. The estate was conceived by the Bauhaus as a solution for cost-effective mass housing. Walter Gropius' Konsum Building, constructed in 1928, now introduces visitors to the history of the estate. A permanent exhibition provides insight into the idea and vision, the construction history and residents.
The estate of terraced houses, designed by Walter Gropius and built over three phases of construction, comprised 314 terraced houses with floor spaces measuring from 57 to 75 m2. Each house had its own kitchen garden measuring from 350 to 400 m2 to grow vegetables and practice animal husbandry, thus promoting self-sufficiency.The estate included diverse housing typologies. As part of a trial, the client wished to study the rational manufacture of residential housing as well as the suitability of new building materials and industrial products. The building site was organised like an industrial production line. Specialised labour brigades built several houses simultaneously during one construction phase. Building components such as precast concrete joists were made on-site and transported with a small wagon and by crane.The light-coloured cubes were arranged as pairs of semi-detached houses, the layout of one a mirror image of the next, in groups of four to twelve units. The facades were subdivided by vertical and horizontal strip windows. The construction of the houses was governed by the imperative of building in a cost-effective manner. Load-bearing walls were built using prefabricated slag concrete hollow blocks and the floors with reinforced concrete beams. Light tones were used for the interiors. The Bauhaus also advertised furnishings for the interiors, but there was no demand for these items.
That little trace remains today of the original homogeneity of the estate is due to flaws in construction and design, which have been redressed by owners and residents. Only the too-high strip windows were modified according to a consistent plan. The first house was restored to its original condition in 1992. Since then a maintenance and design statute ensures that any structural measures taken are in harmony with the historical substance.
A stanza of the civil rights anthem "We Shall Overcome" repeats: "The truth will make us free." We believe that. We believe that if white Southerners knew what Confederate leaders like Jefferson Davis and Alexander Stephens and neo-Confederates like Mildred Rutherford and Strom Thurmond actually said and did, they would give up these men and women as role models. A realm of idealistic white leaders in the past - from James Longstreet to Robert Zellner - awaits discovery and recovery by young Southerners of all races.

Overcoming your mental fears is the hardest thing one can possibly do. I almost left Cadillac mountain twice before forcing myself to stay after I took a test shot next to my car. It was one of those moments where it started off bitching about how cold it was, then my fear of the dark kicked in. Which it's only a fear of mine when I'm out there on my own in the unknown.
I could have went back to my campsite, I could have waited until next year, but I didn't. I had to force myself to push through and get what I've wanted for over 2 years now; a milky way shot at the top of Cadillac Mountain. Clouds rolled in as I was setting up and went right in front of my shot. I had almost left at that point, but luckily there was a break in the distance. That hour of waiting took what felt like forever while standing out there in windy 35-40 degree temps. I'd say it was worth the wait.
I've wanted to come up to this place for 2 years and it just never worked out. I guess you could say things fell into place nicely this year and it worked out really well, despite flying solo for the whole trip. I met some awesome people, had a great time, and more importantly I discovered more about myself that I hadn't known. That leads into why I'm starting this series because I'm still trying to find myself.

Cobb Classic Vs Valdosta
The #12 Winston-Salem State University Rams could not overcome costly penalties and a late fumble, as they fell to #23 Valdosta State 22-17 in Powder Springs, GA Saturday evening.
The loss drop Winston-Salem State to 1-1, while Valdosta State improves to 2-0.
The game was a rematch of the 2012 DII National Championship game, and it lived up to its billing in an exciting game.
After a scoreless first quarter, Valdosta State got on the board first on a Jake Medlock one yard run for score, and the ensuing two point conversion game the Blazers an early 8-0 lead.
After another Ram punt, the WSSU defense bowed up, with Terry Ross intercepting a Jake Medlock pass and returning it 52 yards for a touchdown to move the Rams to within one at 8-7.
But Valdosta State would answer right back with a 10 play, 70 yard drive finished off by a Cedric O'Neal three yard run to push the Blazers back out to a 15-7 lead heading into the locker room at the half.
WSSU would take the second half kick and march 60 yards in 12 plays, but could only manage a 21 yard field goal from Alejandro Suarez, as the drive stalled, cutting the Valdosta State lead to 15-10.
Once again however, the WSSU Rams could not get off the field on third down, as it led to another Blazer score. This time O'Neal reached the endzone from five yards out to push Valdosta State out to a 22-10 lead in heading into the fourth quarter.
WSSU's Phil Sims would lead the Rams on a long 14 play, 99 yard scoring drive, capped by Sims' first touchdown pass as a Ram, when he would hook up with Marcel Caver for a 15 yard scoring pass and reception to pull the Rams to within five, at 22-17.
Winston-Salem State's defense would continue to play well and forced VSU to punt on several occasions, and the Rams seemed to have the momentum as they would get the ball back with 6:52 left to play.
Rudy Johnson would lead the Rams on a 10 play drive, but on first and goal, Johnson would turn the corner and would score, but eh play would be called back for a holding penalty. On the next play, Johnson would be hit and fumbled and Valdosta would recover at the 12 yard line.
The WSSU defense would stand tall once more, to force a punt, but Valdosta's Medlock would pinned the Rams deep, as he would kick a 75 yard punt, pinning the Rams at the two yard line with 1:09 left.
Phil Sims would find Donovan Rasberry twice, and Jamal Haizlip once to get the ball to midfield with 10 seconds left to play.
But on the final play, Phil Sims' hail mary pass would be knocked down at the goal line, giving the Valdosta State Blazers the 22-17 upset win.
Winston-Salem State did out produce the Blazers in yardage (399 to 391), but the Valdosta State defense kept the pressure on Rudy Johnson and Phil Sims all afternoon, forcing the Rams into just 15 of 44 passing. WSSU was also flagged eight times for 71 yards.
Offensively for WSSU, Rudy Johnson led the rushing attack with 14 carries for 64 yards, while Maurice Lewis rushed 12 times for 42 yards. Tyree Massey rushed seven times for 34 yards.
Phil Sims finished the afternoon just nine of 29 passing for 146 yards and one touchdown, while Rudy Johnson went six of 14 for 116 yards.
Marcel Caver led the Rams in receiving with five catches for 57 yards and one touchdown, while Eric Williams finished with three catches for 80 yards. Bronson Green (40 yds), Jalen McDaniel (37 yds) and Donovan Rasberry (34 yds) had two catches each.
Terry Ross led the Rams defensively, with 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup and one interception returned 52 yards for a score. James Hickman finished with nine tackles and Duvontae Covington finished with seven, and Xavier Gregory six tackles on the afternoon.
Winston-Salem State will come back home to Bowman Gray Stadium next week for another tough out of conference matchup, this time hosting the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University at 6:00 pm.

Overcome with emotions as I approached New York City, I had to pull over for a last stop in Jersey City for a few photo opportunities.
And here is my car, as excited as I am, to enter New York City - with the World Trade Center complex as the backdrop.
Moments later, once I hit Holland Tunnel, I was sobbing again; through the tunnel and as I emerged onto Manhattan, I listened to Mariah Carey's "Without You," a ritual carried over from my previous visit when it had been the song I played as my flight touched down at Kennedy Airport. New York City and Mariah are always a very emotional combination for me. I do think I may now have a New York City arrival ritual, to be repeated on all future visits!
After missing 2 amazing sunsets over the last few days, i finally had a chance to make it out to the ocean. Unfortunately it just didn't turn out the way i was hoping. *Semasih belum lahir, kemudian lahir, masa anak - anak, masa remaja, dewasa, jadi orang tua, jika dalam pada masa itu adalah baik dari semua unsur (babad, bibit, bubut, bebet,dan bobot), maka akan baik pulalah pada masa berikutnya, atau keturunan berikutnya.(itulah sistem rotasi , jika baik maka akan baik pula pada masa - masa yang akan dilalui berikutnya).
