Fjadrargljufur river canyon near Kirkjujabaejarklaustur in Southweast Iceland, a place that looks like some archaic dragon lair. In my hyperactive phantasy, filled with old Norse sagas, I saw Sigurd (Siegfried), overcome the evil Wyvern (Lindworm) in this canyon.
We traveled to Sequoia National Park in winter. It's a challenging time to visit this location, even when there isn't a federal government shutdown reducing the staff to only the essential rangers required for safety.
Unfortunately, though near the entrance the skies were relatively clear, and the temperatures were in the 50s, the conditions at elevation were thick fog with ice covered roads. Worse, many people were taking advantage of the free entry to the park and ignoring the posted signs for snow chains. So, getting to the Sequoia groves proved impossible, and we returned to our hotel, but not before seeing these beautiful gnarled old oak trees near the entrance in the soft warm setting sunlight.
Visit Sequoia National Park; but, be advised, winter travel can be difficult, and give the rangers their due - especially when they are working at skeleton levels with no pay during a government shutdown!

Singapore is a photographers paradise with so many wonderful viewpoints.
This is from Marina Barrage on the edge of the city on the Straights of Singapore. It is a very easy area to access and heavily frequented by locals enjoying the cool breezes and city views.
The challenge of this photo beyond weather is waiting for the area to be free of people and timing the water fountain lights. The water fountain cycle is rather short, so to overcome this I used a ND filter and 30 second exposure. This left the lasting water impressions and those walking through were not captured.
What happens when you get two days off in the middle of the week? Your rewarded with cold, gray, and overcast days. I went to a local lake thinking I would shoot some long exposures with these dead trees sticking out of the water but it turned out that the water was so still that all I needed to do was compose the image.
I found this area with some rocks above the water and played around with it. I ended up lightening up the foreground rocks to add an element to the viewer. Not sure if it works well or not but it was the best capture of the day. As always, thank you so much for viewing my images and commenting when you see fit. Take care.

After overcoming a 350 meters difference, we arrive at this rock fields which occur mainly at altitudes above 900 meters. Here the average altitude on the plateau is 1,300 meters.

The temple was built c. 440–430 BC.[2][3][4] The well-preserved peristasis of six by thirteen columns stands on a crepidoma of four steps (measuring 39.42 m × 16.92 m (129.3 ft × 55.5 ft), and 8.93 m (29.3 ft) high) The cella measures 28.36 m × 9.4 m (93.0 ft × 30.8 ft ] The columns are 6 m (20 ft) high and carved with twenty flutes and harmonious entasis (tapering at the tops of the columns and swelling around the middles).
It is constructed, like the nearby Temple of Juno, on a solid base designed to overcome the unevenness of the rocky terrain. It has been conventionally named after Concordia, the Roman goddess of harmony, for the Roman-era Latin inscription found nearby, which is unconnected with it.
If still in use by the 4th-and 5th century, it would have been closed during the persecution of pagans in the late Roman Empire. The temple was converted into a Christian basilica in the 6th century dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul by San Gregorio delle Rape, bishop of Agrigento and thus survived the destruction of pagan places of worship. The spaces between the columns were filled with walling, altering its Classical Greek form. The division between the cella, the main room where the cult statue would have stood in antiquity, and the opisthodomos, an adjoining room, was destroyed, and the walls of the cella were cut into a series of arches along the nave.mThe Christian refurbishments were removed during the restoration of 1785. According to another source, the Prince of Torremuzza transferred the altar elsewhere and began restoration of the classic building in 1788.
According to authors of a 2007 article, it is "apart from the Parthenon, the best preserved Doric temple in the world.
