'Let light shine out of darkness", part of 2 Corinthians 4:6

♫ Fozzy - Painless ♫

My life trapped in between

A whisper and a scream

A suicide machine of my own making

You let it kill my brain

Like needles in my veins

Consumed in your own embrace

There's no escaping

My fix is the misery

Won't stop till the end of me

I can't feel anything

Killing me one breath at a time

Caught in your web I'm paralyzed

So go on and lay me down to rest

You make it painless, painless

I can't, I can't, I can't

I can't feel any pain

I can't, I can't, I can't

"The beautiful, which is perhaps inseparable from art, is not after all tied to the subject, but to the pictorial representation. In this way and in no other does art overcome the ugly without avoiding it. "

- Paul Klee -

We traveled to Sequoia National Park in winter. It's a challenging time to visit this location, even when there isn't a federal government shutdown reducing the staff to only the essential rangers required for safety.

Unfortunately, though near the entrance the skies were relatively clear, and the temperatures were in the 50s, the conditions at elevation were thick fog with ice covered roads. Worse, many people were taking advantage of the free entry to the park and ignoring the posted signs for snow chains. So, getting to the Sequoia groves proved impossible, and we returned to our hotel, but not before seeing these beautiful gnarled old oak trees near the entrance in the soft warm setting sunlight.

Visit Sequoia National Park; but, be advised, winter travel can be difficult, and give the rangers their due - especially when they are working at skeleton levels with no pay during a government shutdown!

When it is wet outside for five days in a row, it is wise to split time between turning the pages of a book and inventing new meals. Have a wonderful day.... (Overcoming his shyness, the sun is out today. What a relief!)

Have a BLESSED day my friends!!!

Even the darkest night is gonna end. The longest night won't last forever. Dense mist will be blown away. Light is stronger than darkness.

Recent winter was not much cold. But at some moments cold seemed too strong. Like here. And finally the spring comes.

Thank you for all the comments and faves, dear friends.

What happens when you get two days off in the middle of the week? Your rewarded with cold, gray, and overcast days. I went to a local lake thinking I would shoot some long exposures with these dead trees sticking out of the water but it turned out that the water was so still that all I needed to do was compose the image.

I found this area with some rocks above the water and played around with it. I ended up lightening up the foreground rocks to add an element to the viewer. Not sure if it works well or not but it was the best capture of the day. As always, thank you so much for viewing my images and commenting when you see fit. Take care.

Quoting www.atlasobscura.com/places/submerged-gondola:

Located on the isle of Usedom in Zinnowitz, Germany, what looks like an Art Nouveau gazebo is actually the world’s first “Tauchergondel,” or "submerged gondola". It made its first dive in 2006. Fixed to a metal pillar 10 m deep in the Baltic Sea, the gondola slides up and down like an elevator. To overcome the buoyant force of about 50 tons, the pressure-resistant cabin weights 45 tons and is powered by two electric engines.

His goodness overcomes all evil and circumstances! God's goodness is near to His children and His grace is extended to His people. His goodness is everlasting without an end! Praise be to God for all His goodness to us!

I was asked to do a series of images taking visitors through the journey of my own story told with the theme Wanderlust. This is my interpretation. My journey of mind, self-discovery, the daily fight to overcome the fear of my current state of fragility.

This series has me with a broken bulb as a head and a brain full of moths. Two images have me alone wandering at dusk using the light play with moths casting shadows blocking my faint glow.

I don't know if any of you can understand that when I hold my camera in RL I am fearless. I am confident, focused, and excited. I feel alive! I would wake excited to relive those moments as I fumbled to retrieve my SD card from my Nikon. Photography was a daily high. I miss it so much. I miss people and gatherings. I miss seeing my friends, my family. I miss seeing smiles. It's a deep ache that won't go away and it scares me.

Seems I was so busy trying not to die from Covid that I stopped doing the things that made me feel alive.

LISTEN

So If you see the girl I used to be

Could you tell her that I'd like to find her

And if you see the shell that's left of me

Could you spare her a little kindness

'Cause I've been high and I've been low

I've spent a thousand nights alone, tryna hold on tight

And feelings come but they won't go

Please won't someone take me home before I lose my mind

Am I broken?

Am I flawed?

Do I deserve a shred of worth or am I

Just another fake, fucked up lost cause?

And am I human?

Or am I something else?

'Cause I'm so scared and there's no one there

To save me from the nightmare that I call myself

I've tried everything and anything

But nothing seems to work quite like it should

Between the madness and the apathy

Seems there's nothing left inside of me that's good

'Cause I've been high and I've been low

I've spent a thousand nights alone, tryna hold on tight

And feelings come but they won't go

Please won't someone take me home before I lose my mind

Thanks so much to Ella Pavlona for including me ♥

Oxford Dictionary:

Definition of We Shall Overcome from the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary

We Shall Overcome

BrE ; NAmE

Add to my wordlist

a song used during the civil rights movement by African Americans and their supporters to show that they intended to overcome prejudice and segregation. Mahalia Jackson often sang it at their meetings. It was originally a song, and includes the lines:

"Deep in my heart, I do believe

We shall overcome some day."

Mahalia Jackson---We Shall Overcome

We shall overcome, we shall overcome,

We shall overcome someday;

Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,

We shall overcome someday.

The Lord will see us through, The Lord will see us through,

The Lord will see us through someday;

Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,

We shall overcome someday.

We're on to victory, We're on to victory,

We're on to victory someday;

Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,

We're on to victory someday.

We'll walk hand in hand, we'll walk hand in hand,

We'll walk hand in hand someday;

Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,

We'll walk hand in hand someday.

We are not afraid, we are not afraid,

We are not afraid today;

Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,

We are not afraid today.

The truth shall make us free, the truth shall make us free,

The truth shall make us free someday;

Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,

The truth shall make us free someday.

We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace,

We shall live in peace someday;

Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,

We shall live in peace someday.

I'll overcome

Silent songs I'll be humming on

'Til you sing along

Come as you are, ignited

Some lights are a different kind

Never burning out

Do you ever wonder what it's like

Losing what you cannot be without?

I'll keep running

I'll try

I'll overcome

Fading stars echo

Reminding us they know

We've come too far to let go

Don't let go

With a some mercury vapor lighting. Monrepos SeeSchloss in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

This image began as a scanned negative. The original photograph was taken somewhere in North Wales (almost certainly somewhere in Gwynedd) sometime in the last century (probably late 1980s, but certainly before 1992).

I have liked the original photograph for some time, but it had a number of problems; for this image I used various post-processing techniques to try to hide/overcome them.

Brown Pelican, Pelecanus occidentalis, over the Cape Fear River in Wilmington NC. Spur-of-the-moment choice to take a river cruise—which turned out to be very nice—but only had my wide lens because I thought we would just be out on the street that morning.

Skycab ride at Langkawi Ecopark, Langkawi Island, Malaysia.

Here’s something a bit different. This black-and-white street photograph captures the psychological weight of modern urban living with a woman pulling a small, wheeled utility cart. Her focused expression displays a determination to overcome the complex and chaotic overlays of reflections, architectural geometric patterns, and silhouetted elements that she leaves behind.

This image was created by blending three different ‘street’ exposures (one night, two day) in Photoshop. The composition creates a dreamlike, translucent atmosphere that visually evokes the feeling of navigating (or leaving) a busy urban environment.

Each photo was developed with Darktable 4.8.0.

The road to a new normal is a race won with perseverance and prayer, not speed . The one who finds the spiritual discipline to realize that he or she cannot do this on their own is the one who will find the strength of the one who is, who was, and who will be. In letting go and trusting our Creator to be our dragonslayer we will overcome what seems unsurmountable. In plain english, when we are weak, our Creator’s strength can be made visible.
