Like the Scarce Large Blue, the Dusky Large Blue (Phengaris nausithous) is a rare (in the Netherlands), though above all, a super interesting butterfly species. These butterflies have their own highly 'intellectual' and well developed, still fairly unknown, micro habitat.
Got lucky
After a 2hr search I had given up and was already in my car having a last cup of coffee before heading home. Thank God a good friend called exactly on that moment asking me whether I had checked all areas. "All but one small area", I replied. "Just check it", he said. I gave it a thought and knowing I had to be home around 10 a.m., I only had 10 minutes to check it... and did.

Northfleet's Olympian's usually spent Sunday resting at their home depot however occasionally they were called up for rail replacement work and here we see ARRIVA Kent Thameside 5940 P613 CAY descending down New Cut, Chatham whilst on a Rail Replacement shuttle between Rochester and Rainham for Southeastern. Sunday 19th February 2012.
New in November 1996 to Midland Fox as 4613 it soon became part of ARRIVA Midlands. In July 2009 it migrated south to ARRIVA Kent Thameside at Northfleet and obtained the fleet number 5940. Itself was made redundant by an ex-London low floor DAF DB250 in April 2013 but It then had a short stay of execution as it once again moved north to ARRIVA The Shires as cover for the Enviro 400 refurbishment program. It was finally withdrawn in August 2013 once the refurbishment program was completed.

TFW 197.043 two car set stands at Abergavenny on a Manchester to Cardiff Central service. We stood here for over an hour due to the failure of LSL 45118 on the ECS to Bristol. The train was overcrowded and a two car set totally inadequate. These units make a 158 seem like a Rolls Royce by comparision. Mind you the private buffet here did a roaring trade.
The days WW local has just begun interchanging cars in Martinsburg, WV after a long day on the rails. To the right is the old ice plant. GP9 459 was built by EMD in July of 1955 for the NKP. Nice to see it still retains the NKP flavor being in the WW scheme.
