Night time is still very much alive.

There's a Filipino saying about overwork, that goes "People treat the night the same way they do for daytime".

Hmm. Translation really takes out the oomph, the gravitas out of the local sayings. Locally, it is "Ginagawang araw ang gabi"

This one's taken from Tocho, after around 30 mins of queuing.

Today I had a discussion with my college schoolmates about retirement. Seems like we all agree that we should retire in about 5 years as we are getting old and have not much energy left to do what we wanted to do when we were young. I was appauled to find out one of schoolmates still had to work six days a week just to have enough money to pay for her daughter 's college tuition. I hope he gets overtime compensation. Since the pandemic, I have decided not to over work myself anymore. Only on a few rare occasions, would I work one day in the weekend. Life is simply too short.

A Twilight shot of a tool shed at Death Valley Mine. Although the place is not a functional mine, it looks like the area is still occupied. There are a lot of broken relics from the early 1900s, but the 2 houses are in great shape and appears to be maintained by volunteers or a private owner. There was nobody there the whole time I visited. But, there were 2 large Golden Eagles (or Red Tail Hawks) in the area. I first caught sight of them in flight when I arrived. While they circled close above me, I fumbled to change lenses on the GX85 to the telephoto. And no sooner than it was attached, they were gone. It wasn't until sunset, that I see one sitting in the huge nest on the pole in front of the main house overlooking the entire property. Because the pole is so high, the 300mm equivalent on the GX85 would only reveal the head and tail. Also, during the sunset, a huge jack rabbit came by and hobbled around my car inspecting the Subaru Crosstrek, and looked at me dead in the eyes for a few seconds before hobbling off to the buildings. A road runner also came around for a minute waiting for a hand out as did a squirrel and mouse. Nevertheless, this place has a lot of wildlife. And by the looks of the many rodents, I suspect Hentavirus could be in those structures.

Earlier that day the winds were strong and gusty. Once the sunset it was like magic. The winds calmed down, to a light breeze, and the sky cleared up during the blue hour. It's been a long time since I shot in calm conditions. The past 2 to 3 months have been very windy, and always cloudy.

The 4M25 06:06 Mossend Euroterminal to Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) working doesn't usually run on a Saturday, but DB Cargo's Class 90s, 90024 and 90028 "Sir William McAlpine" were putting in some overtime as they powered the liner through a damp and grey Acton Bridge.

This is Pixie half way up her favourite tree where she stops to listen and survey the scene before proceeding to the top and leaping onto the roof of the shed. She also bites and chews the cut off branch under her chin and leaves her scent on it so no other cats can claim the tree .

EXPLORED

In a spa hotel in Austria? Of course I'm available. Do you have any special requests regarding my attire?

I'm just uploading the photo's i've taken over the past week or so which I took with my new Canon G9 compact camera out and about in London at night (i.e whilst getting drunk :p).

With the sanders working overtime, 56131 "Ellington Colliery" departed Prince of Wales Colliery at 1430 on September 21st 194 with 7H23, the 1427 to Drax Power Station, which was formed of 36 HAAs loaded with coal & despite the loco having to run-round, the train had been loaded in under 50 minutes.

I have not had time to do anything but work and shop this month. Between working 40 extra hours this week and trying to catch sales, I've been busy!

My body has been surviving on energy drinks and 4 hours of sleep. Who knows what work will ask me to do this last week before Christmas.

Found this cute setup in front of the .:Swagger:. store while shop hopping! Had to take a picture.

Once all this holiday madness is over I might get some land of my own so I can decorate. I've had the urge to set up a fantasy world for my friends and I to RP.

Had a lot of heavy rain at Ladybower and the spillways are working overtime.

In 2018, Stagecoach in South Wales's Porth depot received a single 8.9m Alexander Dennis E20D MMC numbered 37467. She replaced a Solo on Service 99 in Pontypridd, which links the Bus Station, Railway Station and Sainsbury's Store every 15 to 20 minutes six days a week.

New in the 'Beachball' version of corporate livery, she skipped the dreadful Local colours introduced in 2020 and has become an early recipient of the Steel Blue corporate scheme.

Sundays should be a day of rest. However, she sometimes ventures out on Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC-contracted Service 404 (Royal Glamorgan Hospital-Talbot Green-Llanharry-Brynna-Pencoed-Bridgend).

This was the case in this April 2025 shot, which was taken as she was approaching Brynna when returning to Talbot Green.

Unexpected weather condition can have a direct impact on your work, especially for people who are working outside, like them. Do you think the rain allow them to finish their duty earlier or to work overtime?

Apparently, they look ready to go...

Welcome to the wonderful Forbidden City.

Into overtime….

National Express has been given a new deadline of 14 December to make a firm offer for a takeover of Stagecoach.

In a statement released on Tuesday 16 November National Express revealed that the Board of Stagecoach has requested, and the Panel on Takeovers and Mergers (known as the Takeover Panel) has consented to, an extension to the date by which the operator is required either to announce a firm intention to make an offer for Stagecoach. The initial deadline for an offer was the 17 November 2021.

The new deadline is set at no later than 1700hrs on 14 December. The deadline can be extended by the Board of Stagecoach with consent of the Takeover Panel in accordance with Rule 2.6(c) of the code on takeovers and mergers.

“Reciprocal due diligence is now at an advanced stage and constructive discussions between Stagecoach and National Express are ongoing. The Boards of Stagecoach and National Express continue to believe that the Potential Combination would be a strategically compelling proposition delivering strong value creation for both set of shareholders,” writes the operator.

The pair have been in discussions since September under the terms of an all-share deal which valued Stagecoach at £445m. The latest announcement follows a previous deadline extension after the original date passed with no firm offer.

Certainly one of the sticking points would be Megabus, as it competes directly with National Express and the purchase would see most of the UK’s express coach operations under one operator. Remember too that Stagecoach runs the Scottish Citylink operations in partnership with Comfort Delgro. Seen here is 20411 (YX69LCA) turning into Buchanan Bus Station .

Well I had a feast today ..... after chasing harvesters all over the place for the last couple of weeks , I saw loads of them today and shot quite a few also

There is rain coming in a couple of days and they were all busy trying to get the whaet harvested

When I left the area after dark they were still going across the fields .... easier to spot too with spotlights going across the fields

I imagine some will work all night

During the day I look for the cloud of dust on the horizon

I only nearly got run over by one harvester this arvo ... they always seem further away through the view finder
