I trekked down to Laguna Beach this evening in hopes of catching some cloud coverage, but alas it wasn't meant to be. The tide was at its lowest level exposing this crevice. I climbed down in and setup my comp over the water. It wasn't until I returned home and started processing that I noticed this little fella hiding in the shadows. No photoshop trickery here this is the actual photo with minor processing. The hair stood up on the back of my neck momentarily when I noticed him there on the right side my composition.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! :) Have a great day everybody. :)

View on the watchtower on island Texel.

Texel is a municipality and an island in the province of North Holland (situated north of Den Helder) in the Netherlands. It is the largest and most populated island of the West Frisian Islands in the Wadden Sea.

The moment I saw this (I had been walking on the beach for some hours), it reminded me immediately of the song "All Along The Watchtower", lyrics by Bob Dylan and performed by Jimi Hendrix. Enjoy ;-))

ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER

There must be some kind of way outta here

Said the joker to the thief

There's too much confusion

I can't get no relief

Business men, they drink my wine

Plowman dig my earth

None were level on the mind

Nobody up at his word

Hey, hey

No reason to get excited

The thief he kindly spoke

There are many here among us

Who feel that life is but a joke

But, uh, but you and I, we've been through that

And this is not our fate

So let us stop talkin' falsely now

The hour's getting late, hey

All along the watchtower

Princes kept the view

While all the women came and went

Barefoot servants, too

Outside in the cold distance

A wildcat did growl

Two riders were approaching

And the wind began to howl

Took another walk around my local park late this afternoon. Many of the leaves are down now but there is still plenty of colour. I think this has to be one of my favourite spots in the park. I have shot it a lot! You will see it again for sure. View larger on Black.

I wish the Fall foliage could last all year round!

Here's a thought to my non NS contacts...Consider visiting Nova Scotia at this time of year! You could fly in to Toronto, hire a car and drive down here taking in the beautiful 1000 Islands on route. There would be plenty of colour as your drive through Quebec and NB before arriving in NS.

Another from my Visit to Pettico Wick on Wednesday, Thank you for Looking :)

I took a kayak out to this location, and I started grumbling when it started raining on the way. I almost turned around, but I'm glad I stuck it out because of this incredible sky. I held my jacket over my camera for the entire exposure (freezing the entire time...). I only forgot to set the ISO off automatic and ended up with an ISO400, but I kind of like the slightly grainy look :-)

WOW =)!

This is the first 5 mins. of sunrise on Mt. Goode. Taken last weekend in the Sierra high country just below Bishop Pass. Located outside of Bishop, Calif.

I woke at 5:00am and trekked off to the lower tarn to grab the morning light on Mount Goode. The wind was blowing at about 20 miles an hour and the temp was a chilly 18 degrees. My fingers were numb and the wind had tears streaming down my face which felt like it was freezing on my cheeks. I was wearing a pair of glacier glasses but a regular pair of ski goggles is what I really needed.

During my forced stay in Bishop, I say forced stay because in order to obtain a walk in permit you have to arrive one day early to collect the permit and then you are barred from entering until the following day, forcing you to stay in town or find a campsite in the area and enter the next day. Or sneak in Hehe. So during my "Wait" I decided to visit Galen Rowells "Mountain Light Fineart Gallery" to absorb some inspiration from a world renowned local photographer. His work has had some impact on my photography and since he was a regular in the Sierra Nevada, I thought it would be nice to see some of the amazing sites he has witnessed.

I have backpacked over 700 Miles in the Sierra Nevada Mountains stretching from Mount Whitney to Lake Tahoe and usually carry 75-80 Lbs without a problem. My new dilemma is how to get 10 Lbs worth of photo gear inside my pack with my camping gear and get the weight down below 80 Lbs. Which was the weight of my pack on this trip, but only after omitting some of my favorite gadgets. (70-200 Lens, 2x tele-extender, iPod, Chair, Sturdy Tripod, etc). Not sure how Galen carried around a large format camera and his gear but it's no wonder he like to shoot here, the light is spectacular even with an annoying absence of clouds.

I took this shot at an elevation of 11,500 ft looking across at Mount Goode from the Timberline Tarns in the John Muir Wilderness.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great Wednesday ahead!! :)

Hi friends, it's been a while since I've been on flickr and I almost forgot they switched to the new layout. I decided to take a couple weeks off and that turned into almost two months... I've been shooting just not posting. I cant wait to see what everyone has been up to. In the nearly two months off I've totally reworked my processing work flow and wanted to do it without any outside influences and I feel I have got it dialed in. So I guess I've been in a transitional phase you could say.

This is a shot from the Washington coast after a hike out to hole in the rock. I look forward to getting back into the flickr groove and am excited to see what you all have been up to.

I found this seagull perched on a post leading out to the rougher waters of the area surrounding Venice. There were boats by each home or building there because after all it is only one of two ways to navigate Venice. The other is by walking.

Valley of Fire State Park

Some might recognize the landscape from a favorite movie.

Viva Las Vegas starring Elvis Presley had multiple shots filmed in the park during the racing scenes for the film's finale in 1963.

The Professionals with Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, and Claudia Cardinale was filmed in 1966. Valley of Fire was one of three locations used in the film. All that remains of the set is a portion of a rock wall of a hacienda.[11]

The outside Mars scenes from Total Recall, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, were almost totally shot in Valley of Fire.[12]

The scenes from planet Veridian III from Star Trek

Generations were filmed here in 1994.[13]

The Silica Dome is particularly highlighted for Star Trek fans as the site of iconic starship captain James T. Kirk's death and burial.
