It's hard to summarise in one word the unique landscape that exists in the Australian outback. Ancient, rugged, massive, unforgiving, epic. It is all of these things and much more.
When you are inside these epic landscapes, it is hard to gain a true perspective of the sheer size and scale of what you are dealing with. Your eyes see the size but your brain struggles to register what the eyes see.
On the ground, there are some obvious reference points such as cars, trees, and structures which allow you to say "ok that ridge is 500 times the size of the tree" but you still struggle to convey in a single image the true scale of the landscape witnessed.
The dirt road leading into Arkaroola is a great example of the sheer size of everything. This is a land of giants. So my poor efforts is nine photos stitched together and there's still so much out of frame!
On a seperate note, this road is a serial killer of cars (specifically tyres). Little diamond hard pyramids of shrapnel jut out of even the most recently graded surfaces and sit proud waiting for the next 4wd to roll the dice.
This road keeps several people fully employed changing out tyres at both ends! I've never checked into a caravan park where the type replacement service is integrated into the check in service. We used this service both on the way in and way out like most guests who visit!
Sidenote: Top left of picture is the Acacia Ridge walking trail which, at sunset, rivals pound for pound (on the beauty scale) all the walking trails we have done in places like Iceland, NZ and Europe. Perfect for photographers wanting to scurry up to the ridge for sunset!

A gum tree, lit by firelight and moonlight. Reflection in the water of the moon and some stars familiar to southern observers.
The tree is strong; the entire model can be lifted by the trunk, thanks to part 4595 within.
A little over 2000 pieces.
I designed this for the Lego Ideas April 2021 competition to be displayed in the Lego House (nature category) so its dimensions are within 64x32x60. (I finished building it but didn't take sufficiently good photos in time to submit.)
Digger is having a good old time shredding the bag we brought our leftovers home in from the Outback Steakhouse last night.
"Outback Sunrise"
Daly Waters ist bekannt durch sein Pub und einem Baum, seinen Stuart-Baum, in welchen John McDouall Stuart ein S einschnitzte als er im Jahre 1862 Australien durchquerte. Daly Waters ist umgeben von natürlichen Quellen, daher auch der Name "Waters" welche dir Truppe um John Mc Douall Stuart mit Wasser versorgte während ihrer Australien durchquerung. Nun, am Tag zuvor machten wir uns auf den Weg um das Gebiet um Daly Waters etwas zu erkunden - die meisten Touristen kommen nur hierher wegen dem Pub, doch da wir ziemlich früh am Nachmittag ankamen, entschieden wir uns, nachdem wir unser Camp aufgestellt hatten, die Gegend etwas näher anzuschauen. Vorallem wollten wir auch den Stuart's Tree sehen, doch von dem ist schon seit einiger Zeit nicht mehr viel zu sehen, nur noch den Baumstamm. Am anderen Morgen dachte ich, ich mache mich auf den Weg in das umliegende Outback von Daly Waters um den Sonneaufgang zu fotografieren. So durfte sehr wahrscheinlich auch John McDouall Stuart viele Sonnenaufgänge erlebt haben im australischen Outback, sicher mit viel mehr Strapazen und Entbehrungen als wir.

The sixth generation of the Subaru Outback was introduced in 2019. In Europe it was released in 2021. Here it's powered by a 2.5 litre 4-cylinder boxer engine with 169 PS.
The theme came about from the use of Australian type fabrics. Hills and valleys, with the use of circles give this piece a modern feel.
Many farms have been through hard times before and survived .... ... something to contemplate in recent exonomic times !
