"I'm bleeding out
Said if the last thing that I do
Is to bring you down
I'll bleed out for you
So I bear my skin
And I count my sins
And I close my eyes
And I take it in
And I'm bleeding out
I'm bleeding out for you"
-Imagine Dragons
My emotions are bleeding out of me all the time. Sometimes they are constant sometimes not. If you really knew what I was thinking, then you would truly know how I feel about everything in this world. Songs inspire me to take photographs and make them. I used red thread to signify blood in my own way.
Taken just out side the strand arcade in Sydney CBD. I was lucky with the lighting as she was standing right in it so I could expose for her and throw the background black. I did burn out one of two highlights to smooth it all out. Also lucky to get the car headlights in the background to define her hand bag. She jumped into her friends car about 30seconds after this was taken.
I fell that this has a real fashion feel to it but would you still consider it street photography?
We have Lewis and his little brother James today (and tonight) so late in the afternoon we went for a lovely walk along the beach - this couple and their daughter were having fun walking on the sand and getting their feet wet!
Thanks, in advance, to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.
I'm not sure about this hair? It looks nice in photos, but something not right when I look in a mirror. I swapped it at last moment, to the 'tried and tested' version.
It is always good to explore multiple angles to photograph something from. I look for light and interesting backgrounds.
One of the shots from another shoot at Nemesis HQ.

Lighting gubbins -
Big ol' beauty dish (28 inch) on a Bowens 500 camera right, high and about 8 foot from subject to get a little shadow on the wall. To be fair this shot isn't really about the lighting is it.
I think I’ve finally figured out my get-out-the-door routine when I work as a substitute teacher. Unfortunately, it includes prepping my lunch and bags the night before and then getting up no later than 4:15 a.m. to run the dogs, get myself ready, and drive to the school. I was spoiled with my last job’s schedule. I’d begin with 2 to 3 hours of work from my home office each morning and that made the day’s start so much calmer.
Jacket, BCBG Max Azria (consignment). Dress (worn as a blouse), Parker (consignment). Skirt, thrifted, shortened, and embellished. Boots, Fergie. Earrings, flea market. Bag, Clark’s.
I’m also figuring out appropriate dress for working in schools. I’ve got to be more modest in my choices than when I was in beauty sales. I must choose very comfortable shoes for elementary school because I’m expected to walk the children everywhere. I can be a bit more frivolous in my shoe choices when I work in high schools. At first, I was terrified to wear my silk items, thinking that they’d get dirty, but I haven’t had to mediate a food or paint fight, yet.
I wear way less makeup to teach than I did to sell. I don’t have the time for a 30-minute face and my beauty salon look is a bit overdone for schools. One morning, I had a bit of extra time, due to a late start, and did a full-on smokey eye, only to feel like a clown once I got to the elementary school. I may have scared a few children.
Common Honeybee (Apis mellifera).
Lots of bees come to the pond to drink. Some of them are careless, fall in the water and then strive to get out. Few of them manage to do so and finally climb on a rock or a stem by the water where they wait till they are dry enough to fly again. That's a perfect opportunity for me to get close enough to them for a macro like this. After a couple of shots at this angle, I tried to move closer for a portrait, but alas, the bee was drier than I though and took off :-)

Brigitte esce dal mondo in bianco e nero per tuffarsi nei miei colori...
Out of black and white world, Brigitte enters my colours!
A farmer feeding his sheep just before sunrise on Saturday. I was driving to get to the lake by sunrise but had to stop and back up when I saw this beside the road. The farmer started to walk over to see if I needed help but waved when he saw my camera. Another mad photographer he probably muttered (I won't translate that into kiwi farmer's talk)
PS Just one RAW shot, no HDR. Amazing what shadow detail you can lift out and keep the sky colour.
So I finally came out to my mom today. I was so scared and I was feeling a ton of anxiety about it, I mean it's really hard to explain to your mother that her only daughter doesn't feel like a daughter. I'm so glad I told her because it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. She's very supportive which makes me really happy. It's nice to not feel so alone anymore. :) And after months and months of begging, she's finally going to let me get my hair cut ^-^
I love trying to capture lighting. Its such a challenge, its not something you can really plan for. You dont know where in the sky its gonna happen, or how bright its going to be for proper exposure or when its going to strike.
It's been a busy week as I was preparing for the final exam since it is the last week of school. I took this shot during the train ride en route to Guilin. I hope I will be able to take more pictures and explore a different aspect of photography in the near future during summer vacation. But for right now, non-recent shots will have to suffice.
I used my friend's Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 for this shot and I have to admit that it was fun to use with good contrast and sharpness, even wide open!

1 more from tonight... this one is raw and gritty but I like it.. it was a moving train in the dark and it was about 300 yards away in this shot... this is a CP freight train heading north out of the Vaughan yard....
