Another shot at this; the 35mm prime was a bit diffcult to handle in this scenary; for this photo I was literaly on my belly trying to get a good frame. Gotta remember 35mm on a DX = ~52mm.
This is the best I could do.
Note to self: go wider!
Post-processing:
The usual contrast/exposure adjustment, noise reduction ('cus 3200 ISO!), applied a cooling filter on PS to balance the unappealing orange tone I got from the distant city lights and a bit of desaturation to the background/clouds to make the stars pop out a bit more and get a darker sky.
Taken just out side the strand arcade in Sydney CBD. I was lucky with the lighting as she was standing right in it so I could expose for her and throw the background black. I did burn out one of two highlights to smooth it all out. Also lucky to get the car headlights in the background to define her hand bag. She jumped into her friends car about 30seconds after this was taken.
I fell that this has a real fashion feel to it but would you still consider it street photography?

Our last days walking - with plenty of time to chill and chat.
We too train from Corte to Vizzavona
and then walks past the Cascade des Anglais, up the GR20 to about 1255m point, and then returned the same way.
Common Honeybee (Apis mellifera).
Lots of bees come to the pond to drink. Some of them are careless, fall in the water and then strive to get out. Few of them manage to do so and finally climb on a rock or a stem by the water where they wait till they are dry enough to fly again. That's a perfect opportunity for me to get close enough to them for a macro like this. After a couple of shots at this angle, I tried to move closer for a portrait, but alas, the bee was drier than I though and took off :-)

We were stumbling back to the hotel in pitch darkness during one of Leh's all too frequent power cuts, when I became aware of a faint glow in a shop window. It turned out to be a barber working by candle light. Tapped on the window, indicated that I'd like to take a photo, and was invited in. These people are so resourceful, and make the best of their situation in the town where the infrastructure falls short of normal expectation. Leh, Ladakh, India.

A farmer feeding his sheep just before sunrise on Saturday. I was driving to get to the lake by sunrise but had to stop and back up when I saw this beside the road. The farmer started to walk over to see if I needed help but waved when he saw my camera. Another mad photographer he probably muttered (I won't translate that into kiwi farmer's talk)
PS Just one RAW shot, no HDR. Amazing what shadow detail you can lift out and keep the sky colour.
work inspired by the book "Manhattan Out" by the famous French photographer and Magnum member Raymond Depardon
So I finally came out to my mom today. I was so scared and I was feeling a ton of anxiety about it, I mean it's really hard to explain to your mother that her only daughter doesn't feel like a daughter. I'm so glad I told her because it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. She's very supportive which makes me really happy. It's nice to not feel so alone anymore. :) And after months and months of begging, she's finally going to let me get my hair cut ^-^
used the earlier image in this one to make a fictitious scene...the uniforms are from about 1850.....
it might sound strange but it wasn't until moving pictures that artists understood how horses really moved...once they could watch a film of them in slow motion
until then the drawing of horses in particular was miles out...they seemed to think they moved both the front & back legs at the same time...as seen in many old paintings
thanks for looking in.....appreciated.......best bigger....hope you have a Great Day

Always loved that old expression. For me it conjures up colorful imagery of classic Americana, a lone cowboy with a saddlebag full of tools, out patrolling far flung fencing to be sure it's in good repair. Popularized in the iconic Eagles song Desperado. It was impossible not to think of that tune as I wandered around this old pasture with my camera, discovering remnants of this old fence, still standing long after the cattle moved on.
I love trying to capture lighting. Its such a challenge, its not something you can really plan for. You dont know where in the sky its gonna happen, or how bright its going to be for proper exposure or when its going to strike.
It's been a busy week as I was preparing for the final exam since it is the last week of school. I took this shot during the train ride en route to Guilin. I hope I will be able to take more pictures and explore a different aspect of photography in the near future during summer vacation. But for right now, non-recent shots will have to suffice.
I used my friend's Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 for this shot and I have to admit that it was fun to use with good contrast and sharpness, even wide open!
While out today, I stopped at a local store that I adore, Heebe Jeebe. They're all sorts of clever and you see here what I purchased. I knew I was looking for this rainbow ornament after they posted it on Instagram. But then I saw this lumberjack. Sold. I guess my tree is going to be a little LGBTQ this year. Here's the funny thing - I didn't get the LGBTQ reference in the moment I was purchasing them. I just thought they were clever. Now I'm even happier that I did purchase them. I crack myself up with the obvious things I miss sometimes. Anyone else have moments like that?

I've taken this photo in Reykjavik one early morning in May. I've taken a few shots and made friends with this lovely feline, but after a while he (or she) got bored, and sneaked under a billboard and left. I love this shot, and it's included in the Fujifilm House Of Photography ad in London.
