Top of the hill where a few family went hurriedly and survived the tsunami century ago .., Ermita hill , PH

A beautiful little male Downy woodpecker sits atop a branch resting after a busy pecking session!

By afternoon, all the chicken in the rotissery has been sold out. Montmatre, Paris, France

Mr L bought me some lovely flowers in gorgeous autumn colours and nestled hidden in the middle was this pink Gerbera. Very pretty in its own right but clashing badly with the rest. So Miss odd one out got taken out and put in her own vase. Thanks for viewing and have a lovely Sunday 💕

I look out the window to see anything else

hoping to see anything else

but I end up with nothing

nothing but my reflection

nothing but myself

a husk of someone that used to be around

is still around

unfortunately

Near impossible to get a satisfying shot of this one. Just waiting, more waiting and reacting quickly gave this mediocre shot. Also, not even sure I will ever get another shot, so these moments must be remembered forever.

Wish you a great 2009!

This reload's subject shall stand as a symbol for hopefully good perspectives this year :)

With the pubs and clubs full and no room left to see the parade along Oxford Street, these revelers find a quiet backstreet alleyway to hang out.

Not the most sensible place to stand I know but I've stood in far worse places and after my disappointment in Burghley park earlier and now seeing the sky alight as I cycled home I decided to try my hand at the local railway station knowing the line faced east.

The dawn itself wasn't disappointing in the slightest but the station platform was not how I remembered it. It was once a very pretty little station adorned with flowers and a typical old wooden platform awning even more elaborate than the one opposite. Sadly it appears to have been replaced with a cheap metal fascia which is such a shame considering the excellent carpentry skills available in the town.

Unfortunately this isn't the only disappointing 'improvement' in the town, more recently a selection of very large planters, the kind you might find outside Buckingham palace, have been placed in the small town square with no thought given to the fact that the square sits on an incline making the planters look quite ridiculous! And as for the pedestrianisation of the high street several years ago, well don't get me started on that one...*SIGH!*

Thank you for passing through :)

My forest is huge

I can walk for hours

Ups and downs

Lakes and mountains

Open areas and dense forest

Small paths and roads like this

No cars

Of course

Occasionally joggers and bikers

Blue dudes and red dudes

But I can also go in more distant paths and not see anyone at all

I know my forest like my pocket

It is pretty cool to have all this in my backyard

Black Bear collected a Salmon from the Somass River and headed into the bushes for a meal.

Another shot from Irvine Beach at the weekend. I've never seen this old rusty structure exposed before---I hope to go back another time when the tide is out again, and the light a bit better/more interesting.

To the left is Ailsa Craig (the small peak on the horizon), and to the right Arran, I'm fairly sure (I've always wondered after taking photos like this whether there's a possibility I've captured Campbeltown, and not Arran; I don't know whether you can see Campbeltown from Irvine Beach---does anyone know?).

Australian Magpie (Cracticus tibicen) juvenile

The first juvenile Magpie I have seen out of the nest for this season. It was patiently waiting for Mum or Dad to bring some food.

With so many Juvenile European Starlings about, it's hard not to focus on just one. This one here stood out against the green leaves of the service berry bush, a favorite food among birds.
