On a holiday to the coast for Easter, we spent Good Friday evening watching the sun set over the waves in the West. Middle son found a handy breakwater to sit and watch the show.

I guess we are a family of sky watchers!

For the ones who have been following for a long time, you know how much I like experiencing with blur effect in a natural way, meaning not in photoshop but only by the way I positioned myself. Yesterday I had the chance to photograph this gorgeous Morning Dove at a very close range. It took me at least 45 minutes to get to that range just a bit at a time. She or he was sitting on a log covered by snow and at times, looking for food through the snow. Going through all my images helped me analyzed how I can do it better and found a few things I had not noticed in the past. So in the future, I will position myself that way for a lighter background which gives you the impression of a fog all around the subject. If I had not tried different things, I would have never found this.

Autumn is the eternal corrective. It is ripeness and color and a time of maturity; but it is also breadth, and depth, and distance. What man can stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see the span of his world and the meaning of the rolling hills that reach to the far horizon?~ Hal Borland

Spot flowering is always a nice surprise, especially when it is a large and beautiful Hippeastrum flower (aka Amaryllis) like this one.

So, I left home at 8 am wanting to capture ice. I knew it was windy and a bit cold but never like it. The wind was so strong and cold that I had a hard time breathing properly at times.... Even though I was well dressed, the wind was getting to me and did not take my time as I usually do to capture ice. I just could not do it.... will remember it... :o)

You go out, drinking fields and cities,

turned into a long deer of water,

towards the sea of dawn clarity,

like the well-deserved nest of the kingfisher.

That I will go out to wait for you, deadened,

made reed, to the high solitudes,

wounded by air and required

by your voice, alone among the storms

Now it's the time to go out

Looks like there are a few mouths to feed back at the nest.

I know this photo is a bit overexposed but I liked the look of it

Really had fun shooting this mountain stream ...though at times it was a bit dicey !!!!

Have a great week-end ....

This year our male BBBs have been roosting at night on a long twig on one of our camellia trees, however their favourite twig fell off the tree recently, as dead twigs tend to do. I was really happy to see them making use of this one last night!

I've been too busy for Flickr lately and am now going away for three weeks but will catch up with all my contacts towards the end of April.
