This male Swainson's Hawk was out on one of his hunting poles early morning scouting meals for his family. He was not overly concerned about me at all so provided some good looks. This was about as dramatic as it got so after a bit just left him alone and carried on.

A few weeks back I spotted some poppies in a small patch , I thought I would have a closer look on my way to work Yesterday . So after negotiating a barbed wire fence I found they were very few and a bit far from the edge of the field, My old 90 - 300 mm lens is a bit long in the tooth now and I don`t really think what I got with it very good, but i`m yet to try editing those shots, but I did find one or two close to me and in this case really happy with what I got , Hope you like it my shot of the day I think.

Thanks for all your comments and faves, much appreciated as

always.

Sunset from Many Glacier, Glacier National Park.

We went to the many glacier hotel to have dinner and watch this sunset. I probably burned as many calories as I ate with all the times I went back outside to the lake to take more photos! After a 10 mile hike that day you would think food would come first in priorities, but you're all photographers so I'm sure you understand my choices. :)

Bryant Park, a narrow strip of green space near downtown White Rock, BC.

A small slender maple tree was dwarfed by the surrounding tall thick evergreens, despite its "miniature" status, it stood out from all the other trees - due to its colourful foliage.

Yesterday it snowed.... a lot! After seeing snow fall seemingly everywhere else but here these last few weeks, I couldn't be happier. As I took a bimble in my local area, it was lovely to see the joy on people's faces. Something which has sadly been in short supply these last 10 months. It was just what we needed to lift our spirits.

Needless to say, the camera came along and some images were taken. I haven't had a chance to properly look through them all, but here's one which I quite liked.

More to come as I work my way through the images.

This was our last night on the ship as we were steaming NW directly toward the Florida Coast, and the sunset in the west was directly ahead of the bow. Almost as if the captain pointed the ship directly at the setting sun! A magical sunset at sea developed. Magnificent! And we were headed straight at it! Was pretty windy, but absolutely incredible for the dozen or so of us out on the bow witnessing this. A truly awesome sea-sunset. Spectacular! Thank you for looking.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR VIEWS, COMMENTS, FAVES AND INVITES!

I took a short drive around our neighborhood yesterday morning, mainly to try and keep nesting chipmunks, mice and who knows what else out of our car. But I also needed an anti-anxiety fix and clicking the shutter works like an SSRI for me. It was a dreary looking morning but the sun peaked out and created a spotlight effect on an otherwise boring Ohio field.

Compositionally Challenged Week 37 - Silhouettes

The glass is a dark golden brown. I have it sitting on top of a gift box with the orange translucent acrylic behind lit with a task light. The vignetting is as shot, none added in post. : )

A westbound BNSF intermodal train rounds the bend at the west end of Atherton on a cold and cloudy December evening. BNSF ES44C4 8107 takes the lead of this short intermodal train with its engineer side ditchlight burnt out. While I was starring down at the green light visible 1.6 miles away from the signal bridge at Eton Junction, the familiar sounds of a Nathan K5HL rang through the crisp air as it charged west into the small rural community of Atherton. The burnt out ditchlight made for a strange look as the train got closer to my vantage point.

I lucked out today and this little lady decided to grab a rest right in front of me. Not only did she pop by for a visit but she stayed long enough for me to readjust the camera settings and snap this shot.

Every once in a while; a photo just lands in front of you face and you'd be silly to pass that by. (especially with a camera in hand)

Hope everyone is staying safe and doing well.

This ruined and abandoned farmhouse has a sign above the porch saying keep out, hence the name. I'm always intrigued by ruined buildings, especially this one since it has what appears to be used as a barn to protect it, but which could easily once have been fortified, see image below. The farmhouse stands adjacent to a public footpath to the Bockhampton Estate in Herefordshire. EXPLORED 06/04/2013 approx #320
