Otherwise known as Edinburgh Old Town, here it is seen from the Calton Hill in the dying light of a chilly October evening. Edinburgh probably has the most unique and spectacular skyline of any city in the UK...and it gets better still at night.

This photograph captures a charming view of Modica, a historic town located in the province of Ragusa, Sicily, Italy. Modica is renowned for its Baroque architecture, a result of its reconstruction following the devastating 1693 earthquake that struck the Val di Noto region. The layers of buildings visible in the image reflect the town's unique geography, as it is divided into "Modica Alta" (Upper Modica) and "Modica Bassa" (Lower Modica), nestled in a valley surrounded by steep hills.
Culinary traditions in Modica are deeply rooted in its history and culture. The town is particularly famous for its chocolate, which is made using an ancient recipe brought by the Spaniards from the Aztecs. This "cioccolato modicano" is prepared using a cold-working process that preserves the granular texture of the sugar. She goes almost everywhere with me. When she wants to. Otherwise I have to backtrack and collect her up again. She's the reason for hundreds of unsharp photos as she tugs and strains on her lead as I try to line up a shot. She's also the reason why I sleep on the beach most nights. She loves getting wet and sandy on the beach and then at home climbing in my bed to warm up, dry off and shed sand in the bed. She's an important member of the B&B team, welcoming and entertaining guests, especially if they have kids
Juneberry Hedge otherwise known as Amelanchier lamarckii is a beautiful deciduous shrub that produces lovely white flowers in the spring and deep purple fruits during the summer.

This sunrise over the coastal fog is one of my favorite photos from 2016. While it was a busy year for me otherwise, it was pretty quiet photographically. Though I did get back out to California over the summer and up to Maine as well. Hopefully I'll make time for some local photography much more this year.

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Dad northern cardinal did double duty today, dressing up the park with Christmas season color as he dined on some delicious black-bindweed seeds, otherwise known as wild buckwheat.
"White geese" can refer to the Snow Goose and Ross's Goose, which are wild species with primarily white plumage, or domestic breeds like the Roman Goose and Embden Goose, known for their all-white appearance. Another possibility is the White-fronted Goose, which has a distinct white patch on its forehead but otherwise has a different plumage
A feature of Rosedale Moor in the North Yorkshire Moors is the odd occasional tree on what is otherwise a wide expanse of heather moorland. Its a simple photo but the warm quality of the light really caught my eye.

Kentmere 100 rated at 64 ASA, developed in Rodinal 1:25 for 9 minutes. Though I found this development dilution/time for this film, it resulted in severely overdeveloped negatives. Never again, Rodinal. I've come to hate the stuff.
Also, I am getting rid of my remaining stock of Kentmere 120. It lacks sharpness and high value definition, and images from it are difficult to edit. There's a kind of flatness to the results. It's a fine film for students and those who have to stay on-budget, but otherwise it lacks charisma.

A last glimmer of light from the west is still reflected in this office building in Zurich, Switzerland. Otherwise, it is already dark. The black clouds contribute their share.

Not posted for a while having been away!
Just before heading off for warmer climes, I had a walk along the nearby River Brock and took a few images. Just looked at them after unpacking and returning to this awful rainy weather and I thought this was a worthy of posting.
The Wild Garlic brought a little flash of white to an otherwise shady scene in the lush spring woodland.

what you are seeing is a macro of a yarrow plant (Achillea) taken with my macro lens. You discover so much beauty by going macro...for a flower that otherwise may look pale and uninteresting. I have had this plant in the yard for years.

These birds are actually part of the Cardinal family. We are lucky to see them at our feeder in the backyard. This one I spotted on one of the trails I walked. The males are quite colorful while the females are primarily brown. I am trying to get a good shot of the female without having the feeder included. She really hides in the trees otherwise and the trees are filling in with leaves now.
Do not bury your uniqueness,

A timely heads up from First Light allowed for a shot of this FRA inspection train rolling south on Steelton Hill. The car was next due at BNSF in Superior. It was nice CN had new 3119 leading, which helped brighten an otherwise cloudy afternoon.
Otherwise known as grandmother's bonnet :) These photos are from last Spring (2020) because the photos I took this year were not as good... and, I want to enter one of the photos into the contest in the Fabulous Flowers group. They are always having contests on one flower or another :) just something to do :)
Maybe contests are fun and they do give a way to search for your best :)

The person's mirror image was added for the deja-vu effect which may be his hallucination,that's why he doesn't have a shadow.The symbolic sign 'Stop' is the key of this composition.It's meaning there is that you have to look at yourself and say no to drugs otherwise you will be marginalized,pushed out of the picture.
Thought I would try a more iconic pose from Granada. I hope I have added enough spark to give it a fresh taste. Otherwise, as always, I have added in a narrative so you can wander through history from a different Point Of View.
On the shoulders of southern Spain is a Fortress that once ruled with supreme confidence. The kings believed that nothing would change as long as they were alive. And then one of them died and everything changed.
Now the fortress and palace are a walking garden for people with enough footprints to get there.
The proverbial flies on the walls have also passed on and so there really are only rumors of stories left to tell of this great kingdom and the daily lives of people who lived and prospered there.
I only know these stories from a direct descendant of a gnat who sat on the wings of a fly perched on the wall where a king and queen shared court with legends of old.
Some other direct descendants are still living so I cannot reveal everything the gnat told me but I can tell you this ... It was all amazing!
For instance, one Friday the eldest son walked past the jaguar fountain in the courtyard and asked his mother "Will I be a good King?"
The mother thought for awhile and spoke wisely "It really is up to the gnat on the fly's wings on the wall to know for sure...but I believe if it is written in the stars it will be so! " She smiled sweetly but he did not feel so self assured.
Years later, he did become King and breathed a sigh of relief.
But as many kings, he finally had to let go when the winds started blowing from the Northwest and new owners bought the property and asked him to leave.
It is rumored that he sat at this perch for many days looking back at his home and meditating on the amazing journey of his life and his temporal loss. Eventually he packed up his caravan and relocated to Morocco where he lived a prosperous and fruitful life but he was always the most proud of the beauty his family created with this grand monument.
When I came here, a few years later, I did not feel like a King nor a gnat on the wings of a fly on the wall. But I did taste history in the meal I ate on this same terrace and I can still smell the sweet scent of wisteria rising up in the heat and hear the breezes rustle and crackling leaves in the trees like a gnat dancing on the wings of a fly playing flamenco on the walls of the golden palace listening to conversations and passing it along to the next generation.
No matter what anyone says, History tastes better when it's warm and the view is hot!

I was concentrating on eagles on this day so this was a pleasant bonus. Daddy was nearby, otherwise I would have not known it was an oriole.
