The Lotus Mahal is otherwise called the Kamal Mahal or Chitragani Mahal. It’s remarkable and unmistakable design is the main highlight of the palace. It is one of only a handful few astonishing building in Hampi that had not been damaged or destroyed amid the attack on the city. As the name given to the palace is because of the shape it resembles. The balcony and the passages covered with a dome that looks like an opened lotus bud. The central dome is also carved as a lotus bud. The curves of the palace are given an Islamic touch while the multi-layered roof design is moreover related to Indo style of buildings. The style and designs is an inquisitive blend of Islamic and Indian way of architecture. The palace is a two-storied building, well-structured symmetrically. It is surrounded by a rectangular wall and four towers. These towers are also in pyramidal shape giving a lotus-like structure visual. Around 24 pillars are present to support the arched windows and balcony of the palace. The walls and pillars are carved beautifully with patterns like sea creatures and birds. The surrounding area of the palace is covered with many shady trees providing a cool ambiance to the palace.

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS ALONE!

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

Lorsch Abbey, otherwise the Imperial Abbey of Lorsch (German: Reichsabtei Lorsch; Latin: Laureshamense Monasterium or Laurissa), is a former Imperial abbey in Lorsch, Germany, about 10 km (6.2 mi) east of Worms. It was one of the most renowned monasteries of the Carolingian Empire. Even in its ruined state, its remains are among the most important pre-Romanesque–Carolingian style buildings in Germany. Its chronicle, entered in the Lorscher Codex compiled in the 1170s (now in the state archive at Würzburg), is a fundamental document for early medieval German history. Another famous document from the monastic library is the Codex Aureus of Lorsch. In 1991 the ruined abbey was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its architectural and historical importance.

A knife is any cutting edge or blade, handheld or otherwise, with or without a handle. Knives were used at least two-and-a-half million years ago, as evidenced by the Oldowan tools. Originally made of rock, flint, and obsidian; knives have evolved in construction as technology has with blades being made from bronze, copper, iron, steel, ceramics, and titanium. Every culture has a unique version of the knife. Due to its role as mankind's first tool, certain cultures have attached spiritual and religious significance to the knife including the La Hu Si{Knives 2008}
Most modern-day knives follow either a fixed-blade or a folding construction style, with blade patterns and styles as varied as their makers and countries of origin.

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

Happy, happy update. All the neighbors who had been feeding Lucky worked together and found a wonderful family who want to adopt him. The day after I posted his story, Lucky lived up to his name. Thank you all for the concern and suggestions.
Being a cat lover and working at a cat-only veterinary hospital is not always easy. Lucky is a case in point. He's about a year old and is a darling stray who has been hanging out around a neighborhood where several people have been feeding him. They all agreed that he was a love bug and one neighbor was potentially interested in adopting him. Another neighbor is a client of ours - in fact she adopted one of her cats from us - and decided to bring Lucky in to be neutered and vaccinated and to see if either we could adopt Lucky out through our clinic or if among all the neighbors they could find a home for him.
It turns out that Lucky was sweet until we needed to scruff him to give him his vaccines and then he got quite aggressive which is understandable for a stray cat who hasn't been constrained before. In the next two days he went from being friendly and wanting attention while we cleaned his cage to threatening us. Again, being in a cage can be unsettling for a cat who has only ever lived outside. He did much better when we let him run around loose while we cleaned his cage.
On the third day, one of the original neighbors who was potentially interested in adopting Lucky came to visit him and he bit her so she is no longer interested. Because he was vaccinated for rabies only three days earlier, the animal control officer said Lucky had to be quarantined for 10 days before making any further decisions. Adopting him out through our clinic is no longer an option - he's too much of a liability. None of the neighbors can (have too many cats already) or want (the neighbor who was bitten) to adopt him.
Being a stray cat in New Jersey isn't great so just releasing him back into his old neighborhood or relocating him may be complicated. Winters can be very cold, food can be hard to find and there are other territorial, unneutered males out there. New Jersey is also part of a major migratory pattern for many bird species and many of those use this immediate area for nesting so birders hate stray and feral cats - they are truly decimating bird populations. Finally, stray cats can carry disease. There is at least one colony in the area where two cats have tested positive for rabies.
So, it's not clear to anyone what Lucky's fate will be. He may turn out to be a wonderful pet but who will take ownership of him until a future home is found. How long do you keep a cat in a cage or otherwise confined who is used to living outside and being free?

An otherwise perfect immature female Large Red Damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) has had an emergence issue and has been flying around with her exuvia stuck on the end of her now hopelessly twisted hind left wing (see previous image).
With the exuvia removed, she is now only handicapped by having three wings. Although a bit weak, she is surprisingly nimble; able to fly and navigate through foliage and land okay. If she can avoid the predators and hunt successfully for long enough to mature her eggs she might reproduce. She was certainly doomed before but now has a chance to take part in the game of life.
I watched her for a while and eventually she flew out over the pond and then back up higher into the shrubs where I lost sight. Hopefully she grabbed a meal.

This is one of my favourite places, Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf on the Afon Nedd Fechan on the south side of the Brecon Beacons in Wales. One of the challenges with going back to photograph a favourite place is trying to get a new angle on it, otherwise it will simply be repeating what you did last time. I haven't been here for a couple of years, and it was fascinating to see how things have changed such as new trees, and the shape of the river bed. It also helped that the light was much better than the dark and damp conditions I experienced last time. Hope you like it - I know I enjoyed being there.

Thor (from Old Norse: Þórr) is a prominent god in Germanic paganism. In Norse mythology, he is a hammer-wielding god associated with lightning, thunder, storms, sacred groves and trees, strength, the protection of humankind, hallowing, and fertility. Besides Old Norse Þórr, the deity occurs in Old English as Þunor, in Old Frisian as Thuner, in Old Saxon as Thunar, and in Old High German as Donar, all ultimately stemming from the Proto-Germanic theonym *Þun(a)raz, meaning 'Thunder'.
This photograph captures a small religious shrine embedded into the wall of a narrow alley in Palermo, Italy. The shrine is housed in a rectangular structure with a beige frame, topped by a small cross and adorned with a golden star-shaped wire decoration. Inside, a figurine of the Virgin Mary or a saint is visible, protected by a black metal grate. The shrine is surrounded by a vibrant display of artificial flowers in various colors, including reds, yellows, whites, and greens, which provide a stark contrast to the aged and weathered appearance of the surrounding wall.
The wall itself tells a story of time and decay. Its surface is marked by cracks, patches, and peeling plaster, revealing layers of underlying brickwork and concrete. These textures add a sense of authenticity and history to the scene, characteristic of many older Mediterranean urban environments. The juxtaposition of the shrine's decorative beauty with the rough, imperfect wall creates a compelling visual contrast.
To the right of the shrine, a rusted metal roller door is visible, adding another layer of urban character to the image. The door, with its faded paint and scratches, suggests an old storefront or storage space, now seemingly abandoned or seldom used. This element enhances the feeling of quietness and introspection in the alleyway, inviting passersby to pause and reflect on the significance of the shrine amidst the unassuming setting.
At ground level, small patches of greenery emerge from cracks in the pavement, signaling nature's persistence in an otherwise urban landscape. These plants, along with the weathered textures and the delicate adornments of the shrine, create a harmonious blend of humanity, spirituality, and nature. The photograph encapsulates the charm and timelessness of Palermo’s streets, where sacred traditions coexist with the organic wear of everyday life.

Separate from my canada pictures, i will show also the normal routine (otherwise i will show that material for at least 2 years). This cuckoo I shot while she was chased by a male, but not a dentist. I never had seen a cuckoo before so I was glad i could enjoy the hunt that lasted more than an hour, wherein she sometimes posed gracefully, and sometimes she almost fell from a branch hiding into the canopy from her male perceiver.

We were in the mountains after spending a long day exploring and enjoying nature. We stopped in a small campground clear off to give the kids some time for necessary relief (*ahem - otherwise known as potty break lol) The sun was setting but we were surrounded by dense forest so there wasn't too much light. As I walked through the forest edge waiting on a few stragglers I saw the way the sun was setting through the trees and it was illuminating this tiny patch of tall grass. I knew I had to get it. And the sun was setting rapidly enough I didn't have time to switch out my lens from my 85mm. What I wanted was to get the light coming through the tops of the trees but the scale between the tiny patch of grass and the tall tree tops was pretty dramatically different. The only way I could get it was turning my camera vertical and setting it on the ground. Literally a belly shot! ;) The kids loaded back into the van and I emerged from the forest dirty and smiling. My husband doesn't even ask anymore why I'm dirty, he just smiles and says "Did you get what you wanted?"
Haha!
This particular trip was one of my favorites of the Fall season. Why is it that mid fall the sunlight seems more rich, more vibrant? It's a different sunset than a summer one. Maybe it's the autumnal colors that it's shining through... I don't know, sometimes I don't care what the explanation is. I love believing it's just another magical touch of the Autumn season. :)
On another note can you believe it's November already? At last it's beginning to feel as if Autumn is really truly about to be gone...:( We had a lot of snow hit us on the 31st. It really looked like a Winter Wonderland! Currently stocking up on firewood and making plans to celebrate with most of my family for Thanksgiving. And trying to slow time down and take every day as the treasure it is regardless of seasons...
Oh, oh I almost forgot! For a Winter project I've been working on my graphic design degree online. This has taken me into a lot of fun and interesting direction. As I had many of my photographer friends asking for logos and watermarks I decided to make some up. The majority of people buying them are portrait and wedding photographers. I would love input on what would make a good design for more landscapes? More of a watermark and not a logo I guess? I'd love to expand and I would love your feedback on the link below.
Alright, my coffee is cold and other responsibilities are calling. Coming here is like talking to old friends, it's hard to stop. Thank you for always listening to me! <3
xx,
Rachel
Hornbeam foliage forms a veil of green leaded like stained glass with black branches. For how many millennia has the sun illuminated spring leaves for eyes comprehending or otherwise? Just doing the math very roughly, it has been millions of mornings like this, and many thousands in recorded history. But how many of them do you want to see in your life? At this time of year, at similar latitudes, there is one continuous, glorious morning gliding around the planet as it revolves.
And who knows what beauties coalesce silently near where you live every week — enough that the message is the same: go outside! Quick!
There's time to fav this photo when you come back. 😁
