Recent evidence suggests that the easter bunny originated somewhere in what was once the supercontinent Gondwana, 2000 to 2000000000 years ago.

Several factors were important in the creation of the easter bunny story:

- dinosaurs would lay their eggs at this time of year

- their eggs were nutritious

- prehistoric man would be really hungry after a long winter

- being male and hungry predisposed him to making stupid decisions e.g.. stealing dinosaur eggs

- ancient megafauna like megarabbit were slow moving and easy to kill, but not as nutritious as dinosaur eggs

- if you wore megabunny ears like a hat, it would make you (prehistoric man) appear bigger and thus scarier to dinosaurs, increasing your chance of successfully stealing dinosaur eggs and surviving to procreate another day from 1:32544756485 to 1:7362486346

- prehistoric man had not yet mastered statistics or critical thought.

With these well documented facts put together, we can now appreciate how the story of the "easter bunny" and "easter eggs" came to be.

Ofcourse, like all stories, it has changed somewhat over the years, but the main message of Easter has remained the same - chocolate eggs taste better than real eggs, but are far less nutritious.

Happy hunting, and happy Easter!

Dungeness is a headland on the coast of Kent, England, formed largely of a shingle beach in the form of a cuspate foreland. It shelters a large area of low-lying land, Romney Marsh. Dungeness is also the name of the power station and a few other nearby buildings near the beach, and of an important ecological site at the same location.

Dungeness is one of the largest expanses of shingle in the world. It is of international conservation importance for its geomorphology, plant and invertebrate communities and birdlife. This is recognised and protected mostly through its conservation designations as a National Nature Reserve (NNR), a Special Protection Area (SPA), a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and part of the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) of Dungeness, Romney Marsh and Rye Bay.

There is a remarkable variety of wildlife living at Dungeness, with over 600 different types of plant: a third of all those found in Britain. It is one of the best places in Britain to find insects such as moths, bees and beetles, and spiders; many of these are very rare, some found nowhere else in Britain.

The short-haired bumblebee, Bombus subterraneus, was last found in the UK in 1988, but has survived in New Zealand after being shipped there more than 100 years ago. It is to be reintroduced at Dungeness. It is planned that the first bees will be introduced in the spring of 2010.

The flooded gravel pits on Denge Beach, both brackish and fresh water, provide an important refuge for many migratory and coastal bird species. The RSPB has a bird sanctuary there and every year thousands of bird watchers descend on the peninsula to catch a glimpse of a rare bird from the bird observatory.

One of the most remarkable features of the site is an area known as 'the patch' or, by anglers, as 'the boil'. The waste hot water and sewage from the Dungeness nuclear power stations are pumped into the sea through two outfall pipes, enriching the biological productivity of the sea bed and attracting seabirds from miles around.

Beach fishing is popular at Dungeness, with the area being a nationally recognised cod fishing venue in the winter.

The name Dungeness derives from Old Norse nes: "headland", with the first part probably connected with the nearby Denge Marsh. Popular etymology ascribes a French origin to the toponym, giving an interpretation as "dangerous nose".

And why do I call this one "Close To The Heavenly Hills"? Primary because I spent some Midsummers in a small village close to this church, where the view is magnificent. Of course there is another "message" too so the title is ambiguous.

Guess this should be seen in large for more details- Antar att den här skall ses is stort format för att se detaljerna.

~~~ While descending from a winter hike, I suddenly saw this scene, hidden up to now. The weather was very overcast and it was snowing in large flakes (visible in the picture). My pulse has quickened and the shutter has slammed twice before the scene vanishes totally in the mist... then began a few weeks during which I have cherished the memory of this moment, really, I thought only of that!! ... pending the development of the film ...
Eight years later, this photo remains my most intense photographic emotion ... probably also because it was one of the first ...
This is just for that brief moment that I continue to take pictures, to try to live it again... I know I am a naïve person :) ... ~~~
Muy buenas, hoy vuelvo para mi tierra, pegadito a la costa, y os dejo esta toma que realicé en el Parque Natural de Calblanque. En esta ocasión la idea la tenía clara, unir el efecto que produce la lana de acero con el entorno y aprovechar la vía láctea para realizar un encuadre completo.
Como siempre, en una sola toma, sin utilizar Photoshop, y realizando un procesado ligero en Lightroom. En esta ocasión, pude realizar la toma gracias a tener un objetivo completamente manual. Para los que estéis familiarizados con la fotografía nocturna, sabréis que la configuración de la cámara para sacar la vía láctea, es totalmente distinta a la configuración para lograr una correcta exposición de la lana de acero. Para lograrlo, tuve que jugar con la apertura, y solo pude hacerlo gracias a que el objetivo que utilicé es totalmente manual, y me permite cambiar la apertura una vez iniciada la toma.
Estos son los datos de la toma:
...A l'origine, l'église de Braine avaient une longueur de 70 m.
Elle comportait 6 travées.
L'emplacement de la partie disparue est matérialisé au sol sur le parvis.
A la limité rouge du parvis s'élevaient trois partails aux ébrasements profonds, celui du milieu étant surmonté d'une grande rose.
En 1650, l'église est pillée par les Espagnols, à la révolution elle est saccagée.
Le 16 avril 1791, l'église est fermée et les Prémontrés chassés.
Un décret la voua à la destruction en 1806.
Elle fut sauvée grâce à un curé de Braine, l'Abbé Beaucamps qui alerta les autorités et le Roi Louis XVIII lui rappelant que les Comtes de Dreux étaient des Capétiens.
Au moment de la restauration en 1829 une grande partie de la nef était effrondrée.
Les 4 premières travées furent démolies et les portails démontés, l'église ne mesure plus que 42 m.
Les travaux durèrent une vingtaine d'années.
The origin and the history of the chapel are not known, but it was built no later than the early 15th century, as in 1426 it is recorded that the Pope gave money for its repair. The chapel may have been linked to the nearby Holyrood Abbey.
Havana is a town in Gadsden County, Florida, United States, and a suburb of Tallahassee. The population was 1,754 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tallahassee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named after Havana, Cuba, located about 530 miles (850 km) to the south.
Havana is of Indian origin and honors the name of Cuba's capital.
In 1902, following the completion of the of Georgia, Florida and Alabama Railroad, settlers moved a mile east to the present site of Havana, Florida. The railway town was important to the export of farming and tobacco. On December 5, 1906, Havana was incorporated into a town. The name "Havana" was proposed by James Mathewson, a schoolteacher. Shade tobacco was an important crop at that time.
On March 16, 1916, Havana was destroyed by a fire and 26 business-owned buildings were burned leaving only two remaining stores.
In recent times, much of the tobacco crop industry has declined and is known for its antiques, art galleries and specialty stores.
Night shot obtained zooming out with my lens, from 40mm to 17mm, during an exposure time of only 30 seconds, ISO 6400. Obviously camera on tripod.
Shot taken in the far September 27th 2011 while I was wandering during the night at the foot of Mount Paterno (Dolomites), whose tormented ridges look also as visually drag during the use of my zoom.
On the left, the more brilliant line is generated by planet Jupiter. The gas giant in our solar system that shines, especially on moonless nights, more than any star because of its "proximity" to the Earth.
Therefore, I hope it is clear, nothing to do with the star trail technique, which itself is often largely misunderstood. In that case you need to set a long exposure of at least 15 minutes up to what you want, also a few hours, by pointing your camera towards the Polaris in the Northern Hemisphere, or Sigma Octantis if your are in the Southern Hemisphere, then you obtain concentric trails. Also it is possible to point the camera toward any other cardinal point in order to get more "parallel" trails the more you get closer to the celestial equator.
Instead, in this shot the trails appear to come from a single point, as a sort of Big Bang structure, which wouldn't be obtainable in any other way except that zooming during exposure.
The fact of being able to get a similar shot in just 30 seconds (without having to wait hours!) undoubtedly has its advantages. An image like this definitely belongs within the field of abstract photography... this implies it may be necessary to make a few attempts before to get a "making sense" dialogue between the various elements visible and less visible to the naked eye.
Here it seemed to me that the shining Jupiter on the left, the ridges of Paterno at the bottom as well as on the right, and the central "point of origin", due to the lens zooming, contribute to create a logical structure in the overall image (hopefully also with a symbolic meaning).
Tenth picture of my series Origin.
(This time in a 1:1 view, focusing foreground in this trunk that was close to the shore, returning to the sea)
Who among us has not ever asked yourself: What are we? Where we come from? and where do we go?
A very simple and purely material response might be:
We are sea water sea we come and we will return to the sea. And it always reminds me of the connections that our internal environment with the sea.
Connections that obey biological facts of universal and eternal proportions that are unquestionable.
Picture taken just a minutes before the sunset in La Garrofera Beach from Valencia, this wonderful natural and wild beach belongs to the Albufera Natural Park.
On the technical side, say that I only used a neutral gradient three steps filter.
I hope you like it. Have a nice Tuesday. :)
… one month yes, and one no, my Provincial Health Authority of Messina sends me on a three-day mission (from Taormina) to the Civil Hospital of Lipari, located in via Sant'Anna…In my spare time, free from work commitments, I dedicate myself to my photographic passion; the photographs that I present here were all taken in the months of this year 2023; I made various photos according to the dictates of street photography (or street photography), I made some portraits, having always met people in the hand, very willing to let themselves be photographed (perhaps it will be ... that the people of the island are open-minded, eager and used to to communicate with strangers..?!), some portraits were made of people intent on their work; all the photos were taken in the city of Lipari, except for two taken in the port of Milazzo, the departure and arrival point of the hydrofoils (but there is also the ship) for the Aeolian Islands. I met (and photographed) the sweet lady, very good and appreciated American artist, Mrs Janette Little (photographed together with her affable and very nice husband, of Aeolian origins); of the talented artist mrs Janette in addition to her portrait I propose two of her works, I had noticed them some time ago, I had wanted to bring some photos of these works with me, now I propose them in black and white because this is a monochrome series, I note however that the originals are in color, for those wishing to see his works, I add the link to his web site below.
….un mese si, ed uno no, la mia Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale di Messina, mi manda in missione per tre giorni (da Taormina) all’Ospedale Civile di Lipari, situato in via Sant’Anna …Nei ritagli di tempo, libero dagli impegni di lavoro, mi dedico alla mia passione fotografica; le fotografie che qui presento sono state tutte realizzate nei mesi di quest’anno 2023; ho realizzato varie foto secondo i dettami della fotografia di strada (o street photography), ho realizzato alcuni ritratti, avendo incontrato sempre persone alla mano, molto disponibili nel lasciarsi fotografare (sarà forse…che la gente isolana è di mentalità aperta, desiderosa ed abituata a comunicare con gli estranei..?!), alcuni ritratti sono stati eseguiti a persone intente nei loro lavori; tutte le foto sono state realizzate nella città di Lipari, tranne due realizzate nel porto di Milazzo, scalo di partenza e di arrivo degli aliscafi (ma c’è anche la nave) per le isole Eolie. Ho conosciuto (e fotografato) la dolcissima signora, bravissima ed apprezzata artista, di origini americane mrs Janette Little (fotografata insieme al suo affabile e simpaticissimo marito, di origini eoliane); della bravissima artista mrs Janette oltre al suo ritratto propongo due sue lavori, li avevo notati tempo fa, avevo desiderato portare con me alcune foto di queste opere, adesso le propongo in bianco e nero perché questa è una serie in monocromia, faccio notare però che gli originali sono a colori, per chi desiderasse vedere i suoi lavori, aggiungo sotto il link al suo sito sul web.
Alright, please don’t judge me, but I think that Arkham origins has a great plot. I haven’t played the game, so I don’t know how buggy it is, all I did is watch the game movie. I think the plot and visuals are absolutely spectacular. Also, IMO the batsuit in this game is the best.
From L-R:
All the way up top is Firefly
Top row:
Copperhead: not my favorite character out of these figs, but I did my best and I think it looks pretty good
Killer Croc: I’ve had this guy made for a while now and have wanted to show him off. Suspenders and hand wrap things are e-tape.
Electrocutioner: I kinda hate this guy in the game, but he’s got a pretty cool design so I tried my best to get it right. All in all I rly like the combos on this guy
Deadshot: Honestly one of my favorites here. I’ve been working on this guy for a long while and I think he’s come out looking pretty awesome
Penguin: I kinda hate this one. He’s kinda minor in the game but I included him the make the roster seem more full. I don’t like the way he came out but it’s the best I could do
Shiva: rly minor in the game. One of the eight assassins so I kinda had to include her. Not a great design but it gets the job done
Bottom Row:
Deathstroke: Another one of my favorites here. Honestly, this entire bottom row is pretty great so I’ll just explain what I did. Deathstroke has the ninjago shoulder pads on and modded boba fett legs. I just like this look.
Black mask: God damn I love this one. It’s actually pretty simple, Cmf Joker suit with a black shirt and pinstripes. Simple but effective.
Batman: I absolutely adore this suit, it looks like body armor. I just think it’s rly cool. Pretty self explanatory
Joker: another great fig. I cut out a purple coat and modded a flitwick torso. Other than that I modded a joker head and put on TLBM joker hair.
Bane: probably my least favorite in the bottom row, but I still rly like it. Not much to say other than the modded head.
I really love all of these figures and the game they came from. I hope you like the figs :)
The origin Hungarian title (Csepp a "fű szállón") is originated from a Hungarian wordplay (pun) owing to one of my teammate. For foreign language speakers:"csepp" means drop,"fű" means grass and "szálló" means hotel and "szállón" means "in the hotel". The mosaic word "fű szállón" is very similar to the following phrase:"fűszálon" which means "to be on the grass haulm" and my teammate told me it seems the waterdrop relaxes on the grasshaulm as you relax in the hotel. :) So this is the story of the Hungarian title.
Starting the New Year off with a bang!
Well it may be a few days after New Year’s Eve, but Joker seems to be having fun at his party anyways! This is my second creation directly based off a scene from the Arkham franchise; the first being Batman vs. Deathstroke from Origins, though that’s more based off the trailer anyways. Point being, this was also actually a more spontaneous creation, since I was intending to build a different scene from Arkham City, but it was delayed when I couldn’t yet acquire a new piece I needed for it (And no, Ultron, I won’t tell you which part! ;). I don’t build mech like figures too often, though surprisingly Titan Joker was a rather painless build for the most part, with minor alterations taking the place of multiple redesigns; which is always good.
I was also inspired to build this since I finally have played the Arkham games (Though I’ve not yet finished Origins, nor I’m I too enthusiastic to do so, since you know, it sucks), and this scene stood out to me, both because I kept dying and because Titan Joker seemed like he’d make an awesome build. Overall I rather like the build, mostly for Joker, though I’m not super happy with the Joker paint face, since I don’t think it’s as successful as other large “prints” I’ve build like Riddler’s question mark or Anarky’s A. I did like adding in features of the game however, such as the gun safes and the shock batons. I didn’t include the Joker teeth bombs though; after two days non-stop building, I was just like whatever at that point. Anywho, enjoy!
Les origines de Fasil Ghebbi peuvent être trouvées dans la vieille tradition des empereurs éthiopiens de voyager autour de leurs possessions en nomades résidant dans des camps de tentes et vivant sur le pays. Gondar est considéré commemakkababya, nom appliqué au camp impérial itinérant dans la chronique royale de Baede Maryam. De camp provisoire parmi d'autres, l'empereur en fondant Gondar, rend la ville historiquement importante par sa permanence relative. L'empereur Fasiladas rompt alors avec la tradition en l'érigeant comme sa capitale. Il commande la construction d'un édifice imposant, le château qui porte son nom qui devient sa résidence principale
The Journey of the Clocks
I purchased these clocks at a garage sale in Maine in late June 2007 and I first photographed them for this series on July 1st at the base of a cliff. They were on rocks and the incoming tide swirled around them.
But I was never really pleased with those photos because I could not get the camera close enough to the clocks. One of the pleasures and compositional strengths of a wide angle pinhole camera is the fact that you can place objects very close to the pinhole to create some interesting foreground/background relationships. In the photos by the sea the clocks were just a bit too far away.
So, I brought them back home to California (along with the old letters and the ledger) and put them on a shelf in my studio and waited until the muse would speak to me again. In the week of snow we had at the end of January, the muse rang me up and the clocks went for another journey into the forest behind my home. Close to water once again, but this time frozen water in the form of snow. And I finally got the image that I had in my mind's eye when I first worked with them along the rocky Maine coast. Of course, I didn't imagine the snowy setting, but this is the general positioning of the clocks that I was thinking of. The wintry landscape is just an unexpected bonus.
Sometimes, you have to wait for a good photo. Even it is one that you set up, a still life in nature. For this image, I waited 7 months, but it paid off.
Panicale è di origine molto antica e le prime testimonianze storiche risalgono agli Obertenghi, la famiglia nobile dalla quale discesero poi i Malaspina. Compare per la prima volta nel 1077 in un atto di donazione dell’imperatore Arrigo IV a Ugo e Folco d'Este. Questi lo infeudarono ai Moregnano dell’Emilia e nel XII secolo passò ai Malaspina. Dapprima parte del feudo di Olivola, quindi di quello di Villafranca dal 1355, Panicale conobbe un breve dominio genovese prima del ritorno dei Malaspina e la formazione nel 1535 di un feudo indipendente con Licciana, seguendo quindi le sorti di quest'ultima. Nonostante la presenza di un palazzo marchionale, la scelta della sede del feudo cadde su Licciana. Il palazzo era infatti abitato dalla locale famiglia dei Medici, famiglia di notai originari di Sarzana. Il borgo si presenta ancora intatto nel suo impianto medievale, con la bella porta d’accesso a doppio arco romanico a tutto sesto che introduce alla piazza del palazzo marchionale preceduta dalla chiesa di San Biagio. La facciata della residenza signorile, l'antico castello di Panicale, trasformato in palazzo residenziale tra il XV e XVI secolo, è caratterizzata da quattro ampie bifore tardogotiche al secondo piano, decorate con figure fitomorfe e due grandi finestre ad arco a sesto acuto. Una volta all’interno dell’antico recinto murario, le viuzze lastricate si snodano tra case in pietra e bei portali in arenaria. Appena fuori dal borgo si trova la chiesa di San Biagio, del XVI secolo, a una navata, con la facciata decorata da pinnacoli in pietra, portale in arenaria sormontato da una statua marmorea di San Biagio.
