Het was al nat toen ik aankwam op de AHOB bij Rumelaar - in de auto's werd gewacht tot het tijdstip van de doorkomst daar was. Een paar minuten voor doorkomst breekt er een gigantische bui los - het resultaat voor de foto bij doorkomst is te zien - regen - regen - regen. We stonden hier met 8 man - tot nu toe nog van niemand gezien dat de foto hier genomen ook geplaatst is - reden lijkt me wel duidelijk. Laat ik dan maar degene zijn die aan de buitenwacht laat zien hoe een 'waterballet' (zoals Rob het noemde) er in het echt uit ziet ;-))
Update : intussen staan er meerdere foto's van het waterballet online maar allemaal zijn ze erg, nou ja, nat ;)

The OriëntExpress was on tour in the Netherlands today. The weather was appallling - grey clouds with continues rain. Just before passage the floud gates opened and rain came poundering down.
NSR 1756 gives traction to the 17 OriëntExpress coaches when passing near Maarsbergen on their way from Amsterdam to Arnhem.

This is the original Orient Express train station and restaurant. It inspired me to read Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, and I've been addicted to her books ever since.

Driver Don Clarke takes 35028 Clan Line and the VSOE British Pullman into London Victoria for the final time at the end of his farewell steam excursion before retirement. His son Jim Clarke joined him on the footplate. Seen here just after 4pm at the bottom of Grosvenor Bank and about to enter Victoria with a final pull on the whistle following the usual Surrey Hills afternoon trip.

33059 arrives with the VSOE train in the mid 1980's. The restored VSOE entered service in May 1982, although the LNER luggage car shown in this picture is no longer used.
