Day Three: Nurse putting pressure on Lewis' wrist to stem the flow of blood. He did not enjoy this, mainly because he hates being restrained.
Day Eight: Lewis finally made it to a bed on the cardiac ward in the early morning. Around 3 am Karla was awakened to be told he was being moved to the ICU. His blood tests showed extremely low amounts of sodium.
Day Five: This little guy had been quiet all morning - not talking to us - then his nurse comes in and he wouldn't shut up. He even smiled at her! Cheeky!
Day Five: They needed to immobilize the little guy so they strapped him down to a board with his arms above his head and his legs covered in lead. He didn't complain once.
Day Eight: Lewis had been increasingly miserable during the day. He was stiff as a board and clearly in pain, but we didn't know why. Thankfully a member of the cardiac team called us and asked the right questions which brought us back into the ER that evening. If we had left it another day he could have gone into complete kidney failure.
Day Six: Still awaiting a full baby beluga smile, but this is nice too. He is beginning to return to his old self.
Day Five: I didn't know how I would take seeing his incision the first time. I wanted to make the picture as beautiful as I could. The cheek patches remind me of a clown, but not a sad one.
Day Five: This is similar to the other shot but I liked the expression. He is a little character this guy.
Day Five: Lewis had blorfed some of his milk up so his nurse helped make sure his dressings were clean.
Day Nine ICU: They worked on getting his sodium levels to rise with a combination of IV and the addition of sodium to Karla's breast milk.
Day Five: Not sure how the fox fits in. Or maybe its a wolf - either way, not the most comforting thing to have eying you when you are helplessly strapped into an X-ray machine.

Day Seven: We stopped by the pharmacy to collect Lewis' meds. They said to give him infant Tylenol. Seriously? If you just had your chest cut open and your heart rebuilt a week ago, would you want infant Tylenol? Personally I would vote for morphine.
