There's something about doors, maybe it's what's behind them but some are pretty bland and nondescript whilst others are just fascinating. The best doors always seem to be away from home though.
The final score: Osprey 1, Fisherman 0. One can see the fishing lure to the right of the Osprey; the fish was probably heading towards the bait when an hovering Osprey dove into water and picked the fish up from under water. Not sure how the fisherman felt but I was delighted to see this female Osprey scoring big with this good sized Carp. It was a cloudy afternoon, I had to lower the shutter speed and open the lens wide open; however, the wind direction forced the bird to take off from water facing me. Ospreys are ultimate fishers, no doubt. Markham, Canada.
Hey, looks like the fly has open the mouth. manual focusing and a F7.1 i think, no tripod in use.

For many many years, this was an open trash dump right on the shore of Monterey Bay. Locals got tired of the vermin and covered the dump with sand. Engineers pointed out that the ocean would pretty shortly wash the buried trash out to sea, so the large buried pile was excavated and reburied a bit farther from the waters edge. When it was reburied the rate of coastal erosion was calculated incorrectly. The reburied dump will erode out in the next few decades. There is still a deep pit next to this bluff marking the excavation, and thousands of shards of glass slowly being rounded by waves and sand and wind cover the ground, a very popular area with the beach glass collectors.
Just a few years ago an effort was made to restore the native dune ecosystem. The animals and the plants are doing well. A trail has been made for hikers and bikers to keep them off the delicate bits. And the knobby dune on the left in this shot (actually a limestone outcropping and the highest point on this stretch of the coastline) is reserved for parasailors to launch from.

It's about 3 miles (4.8km) loop from Cora Older Trail to Seven Springs Loop Trail and Hayfield Trail. Total elevation gain about 600 feet.

Then tilt your head and look again. Deeper…
Look from every angle. Don’t let one view satisfy your curiosity.

2019 Portland Adult Soapbox Derby:

CAMARADERIE, COMPETITION, AND COMMUNITY
The Portland Adult Soapbox Derby is a volunteer-fueled community event traditionally held the third Saturday of August.
The simple things like watching a jellyfish swimming through the open ocean with the sun light streaming down from above are why I'm so attracted to scuba diving. I checked my log book and this was my 567th dive to date......can't wait for the next one!
Frog found in my parents' pond. Wasnt making any noise, just repeatedly opening its mouth. Not sure why...
This is the macro of a Great Spangled Fritillary butterfly. They love open habitats, moist meadows, deciduous woodlands, moist conifer and oak woods. Just one generation a year. Their color varies according to the area, eastern males are orange-brown, western males more orange, darker towards the base and with black markings and spots. The females are tan instead of orange, and has a greater dark area at the wings base.
My photography is mostly nature. I enjoy macro photography a lot, but it is difficult to decide what a I like the most about this art.

I think the water in the ornamental pond was getting a bit warm this day, many of the Carp were breaking the surface and happy to hang around to have their portrait taken

New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) BU Gate Car no. 1404 (Jewett, 1907) is seen leading a three-car train through Neck Rd station on the Brighton Line during the NY Transit Museum's Parade of Trains. These cars feature open platforms on their ends, on which passengers used to be able to ride. For reasons I'm unaware of, this practice was not continued in 2022, so riders could only experience the blowing breeze from the open windows and doors.
