There was a time when cattle guards were a common site for railroads on the Texas Plains. This one survives in Plainview because a customer spur crosses a cow pasture - in town. Off the top of my head, this is one of the few railroad cattle guards left in the Panhandle-Plains.
The open cluster M46 and the planetary nebula NGC 2438 in the constellation Puppis. What is neat about this star cluster is the planetary nebula behind it (although it appears to be part of the cluster). This was a five minute (5 x 1 minute) exposure taken on January 15, 2015.
Found this shot while sorting through some files, he was really posing for me that day...

I got the golden light shot on Saturday. I was wanting that open mouth full frame shot and was excited when I finally got it. There was about a half hour of light available.
I was trying something new for a change, working with softer tones, lighting & aperture. This was by far different than I was use to. So just before sunset, I went for a walk around our open field near our house and took the chance to test out my new lens. I just got a 35mm f/1.8G lens for my Nikon & I gotta say, I love it :) What an amazing lens
P.S. I love you
Pretty cool to see this Oriole eating a spider. Only the camera was able to capture the action. It happened in an instant in the field.
This was a favorite playground of mine in times past, so I took pops with me on this little excursion to Sorrento after 3 hours of Cape Schank. Pops was going to sit this one out. With my pep talk over, I told him that he sure would be missing out, but he held his stoic ground!
25 mins later I caught him with my zoom lens making his way up! See where I spotted him, on the bottom left corner, he is wearing red! Anyway, we met half way!
