Living Skies, continued. Here's another shot from the amazing Aurora borealis display we saw last month. This far south, in Saskatchewan near the border with Montana, the Northern Lights usually appear as a faint glow on the horizon, to the north. But on this magical night, they were directly overhead, streaming down in all directions. I've never seen anything like it at this latitude. And although I have seen some outstanding aurora displays in Canada's Yukon, this was by far the most colourful.

First encounters are always the most special✨

This image was taken today in the golden grasslands of the Masai Mara 🌾 — my very first sighting of a cheetah in the wild. Silent, graceful, and endlessly captivating, Africa’s fastest cat appeared right in front of me.

Moments like this remind me why I travel, explore, and carry my camera wherever I go

Some encounters are fleeting, but their memory lasts a lifetime🌍💛

Was up north Yorkshire this morning with Matt Lethbridge

ended up at malham cove after a tip off that the water was coming over the top a few of the locals said for the time they had lived there they had never seen a waterfall coming over the top of the cove and afew said it had not happened for a couple of hundered years but with the weather where having over the years it may have happened be for all I can say is is 1 to tick off the bucket list to have seen this

Timing! What are the chances of crossing the Atlantic, stepping out and seeing this! Not the greatest picture but certainly exciting! BTW they were all over the place, individuals leaping all over. To have a telephoto zoom and to judge through your viewfinder over a large area of water is pretty difficult to predict where 1 would pop up, let alone 3! Real once in my lifetime!

It is Pi Day! 3/14/15 (at least in the American date format!)

For mathematical nerds and other like minded people today is the day for celebrating the number π, or pi, - the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. March 14 is Pi Day because 3.14 are the first three numbers of pi but this year is the once in a lifetime day when the date is the first five numbers of pi - 3.1415! Sadly I missed 9:26:53 this morning when the date and time would have been the first 10 digits of pi!

Thank you for taking the time to visit, comment, fave or invite. I really appreciate them all.

EXPLORE Worthy, Challenge 65 - ROUND SHAPES (Art from 2015)

I also got someone not connected with us to take a photo of us under the clock but you wouldn't want to see that!!!

Being there, at sunrise on the shores of the Baie des Chaleur, is an experience that cannot be described in mere words. Such a momentary opportunity might give you a sense of it. Wish you were there. Yes, the seagull was caught in the sun's rays. No this was not Photoshopped.

With the smell and taste of dust already omnipresent it was most unusual to then be walking through a recently burnt out forest and adding the smell of ash to this equation! This beautiful tree stood out like a ghost. Photographed at 8.14am

A famous landmark on the beach at Bunbeg that came ashore in the 1970’s and never left, over the years the boat featured in the 1986 Clannad and Bono video “Once in a Lifetime” and a Vogue cover. Hotel Ostain on the hill behind is now also abandoned in recent years.

1999 - Kodak slide - nikkormat 24mm nikkor lens.

We were hiking with our granddaughter Emmy at Mt. Rainier National Park and decided to take a break and sit on a rock for a minute. Suddenly this Black Bear popped up over the hill about 10 feet away from us!! He looked at us, but kept on walking! My husband was in protective mode with the granddaughter, so I just started shooting. It was pretty intimidating sitting there in the fog and having this guy appear like that! Wow! What a moment!!

‘Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down’

I’ve always tried to keep in mind and be grateful for the things that I have and to enjoy the little things in life. I think this song encapsulates that feeling, there’s no point trying to remove the water at the bottom of the ocean, better to let it hold you down than engage in some futile battle.

David Byrne wrote most of the lyrics for the song from listening to evangelists on the radio. I think the central message is the same as Matthew 6:34

‘So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.’

An enthusiast savours the moment and worries little about tomorrow whilst enjoying recording 68007 on the Fife Circle. The train is approaching the Forth Bridge at Dalmeny, North Queensferry.

There is an alternative version of the song featuring ‘The Donald’, no offence to American friends:)

A crazy day and very tense build up for this event. Watching from 41st floor of Marriott Hotel opposite - around 200 meters away.

When the first of 2 detonations goes off, you can see the glass flex.

The exterior drops first, then the interior (its only one building).

In the upper left you can see thousands of people watching - 40k+ turned up to the city to see this.

On the ground around the building you can see water being sprayed up, to catch as much dust as possible!

great experience being so close!

These are Theropod dinosaur prints on the outskirts of the Arches National Park boundary in Moab, Utah. These prints were left behind when this entire area was under water, and these hard surfaces were once the muddy bottom that the dinosaurs walked through.

Very surreal to have seen and felt these hundred million year old prints. Theropods and Sauropods frequented this area of Moab.

Shotover Jetboat, Queenstown - 2015

This is a must do in Queenstown; the Shotover Canyon Jetboat. It's a high speed, twisting and turning, thrill seeking ride up and down a narrow rocky canyon.

The jetboat is a New Zealand invention, designed specifically to navigate the shallow fast flowing rivers of the land. They were invented in the early 1950s by Sir Bill Hamilton, a pioneering engineer from the South Island. So they're a must if you visit.

At times dreams come true: from last week some of my creations are displayed at the LEGO House Masterpiece Gallery (Billund, Denmark).

I'm so happy and honored for this incredible goal, never in my life I would have thought to end up here.

The 26th of September set-up day, every one was just so special. A pleasure spending the entire set-up day with other talented builders from all over the world. I will never forget these moments.

Thanks everyone involved, first of all my family.

A special thanks to LEGO House staff, they're so kind.

Thanks to ItLUG, to all the AFOLs and builders who support my work.

Thanks to all of you😘

I ❤ you all!

La meillieure place dans toute la monde pour moi est Moorea et sa mer. Quel beau matin.

Volcán Pichincha al atardecer

This is a must for View On Black

As the title indicates, this sunset was unlike any other I have seen. Capturing this moment is something I will not easily forget.

This panorama is an HDR image. Six different horizontal changes and three exposures for each composition. I shot 0, +1, and -1 through the sequence. I then stiched three seperate panoramas in CS3, and finally merged the three differently exposed panos into an HDR image with Photomatix.

Panel in the museum measuring 4 by 2.2 meters

See the 2 comments just below.

Paneel in museum meet 4 x 2,2 meter!

I was fortunate to win a performance based trip to the Riviera Maya of Mexico last year. The trip time finally came around last week so my wife and I got to escape the winter chill. Here is a shot out the back door of our suite. We backed up to a beautiful tropical river.

I have about 3000 photos and videos of wildlife and landscapes to wade through and a lot to catch up on at home and work. I will likely only have time to fave and occasionally comment on those I follow for the next little while but will hopefully catch up soon.

A young mountain gorilla peers out from behind his mother in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

We locked eyes for just a moment before he ducked out of view again. These quiet, close encounters were some of the most moving moments of the trek — a reminder of how intelligent, curious, and vulnerable these animals are.

Photographed in Bwindi, Uganda — home to roughly half the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population.

Transitional Cathedral, Christchurch - 2015

Another world-famous icon of the city's plight and rebuilding is the Transitional Cathedral - aka the Cardboard Cathedral. With the destruction of the original cathedral, the city needed a new one, quickly. It opened in mid-2013, was design by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, and build by local firm Warren and Mahoney. It is constructed using cardboard tubes, polycarbonate, and shipping containers, as well as timber and steel. There was a little controversy surrounding the finance, but the building is a real symbol of hope. These colourful triangular windows are images taken from the original Cathedral's rose window - one of the elements that most people are sad about loosing. It's a modern architectural hero in my book.
