🎧 Hear what I feel ► to play 🎧
Darker than the ocean, deeper than the sea
You got everything, you got what I need
Touch me, you're electric, babe
Move me, take me from this place
Movin' to the tempo, show me what it takes
Speedin' up my heartbeat, playin' in the face
Kiss me, we're on fire, babe
Love me, take me to outer space....

Never seen a sunshine like this
Never seen the moon glow like this
Never seen the waterfalls like this
Never seen the lights off like this
Never dug anyone like this
Never had tasty lips to kiss
Never had someone to miss
Never heard a song quite like this
Fortunate, to have you (Honey)
I'm so glad, you're in my world
Just as sure, as the sky is blue
I bless the day, that I found you
Never had room service all night
Never took a trip first class flight
Never had a love affair so tight
I never felt a feeling so right
Never seen a winter so white
Never had words to recite
Never had a flame to ignite
And I never sang a song with all my might....
This photo is part of probably the most strange and in retrospect the most agonizing behavior that we have ever seen in a predator.
It had rained that morning and the safari had been very uneventful.
Suddenly our guide heard nagging and shouting from monkeys in the bush.
Quickly the cause of the theater was identified:
this leopard had authorized a vervet monkey baby, probably the mother had "lost" it in the excitement - vervet monkeys carry their offspring under their bellies, the babys cling to their mother.
Instead of killing the baby quickly, the cat played with him.
The cat occasionally let go of the little one, only to bully him again a short time later. She bit down just so hard that the monkey was not hurt. She took it in her mouth, as if she were transporting her own offspring.
The cat apparently used the tiny one as bait in the intention that one of the adults would become careless and start a "rescue operation".
We watched this spectacle for 30 minutes. None of the monkeys got cocky and we left the "crime scene", because we had to our bushflight.
The cat had not killed the monkey until then.Happiness is a way of travel, not a destination.

I shot this video last year. This is a screenshot from my video. The sun was setting after a storm and I saw a beautiful rainbow that caught my eye. I didn't notice when I was recording, but there where some flying objects that were moving in speeds that I have never seen. They came to a stop as if they were admiring the beauty of what caught my eye. I saw them shooting across the clouds like shooting stars except they were changing their directions and stopping. There was a total of 9 that I counted in my video that I had to slow down to see them all.
I ran to my room to get my 600mm lens and camera, and by the time I got back they were gone. This wasn't my first encounter, and I believe it won't be my last. Just wanted to share this with whoever is interested in these kind of phenomenon. If you've had any experiences like this please share. I haven't looked into it, but I'm curious why they were watching the rainbow. I've heard that they use storms to recharge their aircrafts.

One of the main waterfalls to visit, Skogafoss is large and beautiful. If you catch this waterfall at the perfect time, you will be rewarded with a double rainbow!
I can honestly say hand on heart that I never ever saw any sky like this in all my life...
I was on holiday with my young grandson and his cousin and only had my iphone camera on me as I devoted my time to the boys. Well I captured the moment.....
A shelf cloud is a long wedge shape cloud that forms on the leading edge of a squall line or multi-cluster storm system. They often stretch for miles across the sky and may have finger (non rotating) like clouds reaching toward the ground. Shelf clouds form as cold air within the storm rushes out lifting warm moist air ahead of the storm. As that warm air lifts it condenses and a shelf cloud forms. What you will experience as a shelf cloud moves towards you is first heavy winds and then rain and hail. The main threat with a shelf cloud is severe damaging winds.
Shot on February 1, Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) will reach its closest point to Earth. It’ll sweep 27 million miles away (that’s 44 million km, or 0.29 AU). At that point, it’ll still be more than 100 times the moon’s distance away.
The last time this comet passed near the sun was 50,000 years ago, when Neanderthals walked the Earth.

a sequence of the phases I got in between falling asleep over my gear, wrestling with a wobbly tripod that couldn't really cope with the weight and size of the lens and freezing cold ... :p
MY HEARTFELT THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO VIEWED, COMMENTED OR FAVED THIS COLLAGE. Sorry that I did not respond but after those 24 hours straight I fell asleep and slept for about 12 hours straight ;) It is all good now :D

In the heart of Namibia’s wilderness, a white rhino calf feeds under the watchful eye of its mother. As the golden sunlight bathes the savanna, this touching moment highlights the beauty, resilience, and vulnerability of these magnificent creatures. A testament to nature’s grandeur and the urgent need for conservation.

Whilst this is a noisy shot, capturing a gorgeous location with a moon rise, the galactic core and comet 252P makes me happy. So much captured in 15 seconds.
The Super Moon (closest the plant has been to the earth for 70 years) pops above the Glastonbury skyline with the clouds parting for a few moments of glory. A great sight to see first hand.

I was going to wait until I had downloaded all of the Puffin shots but I thought I would post one as a taster. Lots of wildlife enthusiasts at the cliffs, many from Europe and even from the US.

EXPLORE #311, APRIL 10, 2023
Haven't been here in ages but I needed to put this one on my page for a permanent memory. My backyard is blessed with a leucistic Sandhill Crane this spring. He seems to be pairing up with our single female that's been coming to stay with us for about the last 4 years. Another pair of sandhills that I've name the "terrorists" keep coming around, trying to break them up. So far to no avail. And today I was able to catch a photo of them mating. I'm hoping they stay, don't get driven off, or separated, by the terrorists and perhaps (if the stars are aligned and the coyotes mind their own business) we'll be able to enjoy a colt or two down the road.
On another note, I'm well and enjoying retirement. I hope that you are all well, too. Survived a mild bout with Covid and hope to not revisit that one ever again. Fingers crossed.
Will be perusing some of your pics over the next hours/day to see what you've been up to.
This was the view from our hotel room in Balestrand, Norway which is situated on the mighty Sognefjord. The little speck on the horizon is a ferry boat, it gives some scale to how massive the mountains of the fjord are. For 116 pictures in 2016: no. 76 A room with a view. (We stayed at the Balestrand Hotel).
Hunting the NEOWISE 2020 comet, finally got a clear view on the sea shore, away from the light pollution. I had to modify/squeeze the original panorama in order to make it suitable for Instagram. Enjoy the view, the tail of the comet is impressive when the skies are dark. Technical: different processing methods used for different parts of the panorama (stars, comet, lighthouse, foreground).

One awesome day in Liverpool on bank holiday Monday to see the 3 Cunard Queens cruise ships, The Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Victoria sail down the River Mersey and then be topped off with the superb Red arrows doing a fly over....Magical and memorable to say the least
Puffins pair for life and live on land in burrows, the chick will stay in the burrow until it is ready to fledge. One parent will stay with the Chick or Pufflin as they are called while the other hunts for sand eels.
Sitting along atop a 3.5 mile hike, Delicate Arch is a spectacular place to visit. The hike alone is somewhat difficult, going up a good elevation with no shade. Once you reach the top however the view will be worth the climb. I recommend going in the morning, never middle day as the sun will be too strong.
