2015 Yanshui Beehive Rockets Festival

It has been a little while that I have been on line.
Just before our big trip to the US (end of this month) , I decided to travel a bit lighter and get rid of my gallbladder (not really recommended).
Can't really got to places much at the moment to take photos.
So it was time to introduce my D800 to water drop collisions.
Don't know what, but something reminds me of a certain Steven King book.
Hope you like it and have a great weekend
Thanks for looking
Peacocks (and Peahens) roam the grounds of Staglands Wildlife Park, north-west of the outer Wellington suburb of Upper Hutt.
And whether the Boys are displaying their spectacular tail feathers, are just strutting around, or (as in this case) just taking some Time Out, they are beautiful birds!
Blue Peafowl (above) originated in India and Sri Lanka, but as "New Zealand Birds On Line" (www.nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/peafowl) have noted,
Pea Fowl are now held on many lifestyle properties throughout the country, and have even become feral in the upper North Island, especially around parts of Northland, Auckland, East Cape and mid-Hawkes Bay.
Pea Fowl are related to Pheasants - something that I wasn't aware of...!
My In-Laws had Pea Fowl on their farm, but the birds - though tolerated - were regarded as pests because they were noisy, and fowled paddocks with their waste, making the grass less than tasty for livestock!
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to leave a Comment Folks. It's always nice to hear from you, and your comments are always very much appreciated...!
37901 Mirrlees Pioneer stands at the head of two merry-go-round coal hoppers (one type HMA and one HDA, although both were coded HAA when built) near the coal unloader on Line B at Drax Power Station.
Taken during a Northern Diesel Photo Charters event organised by Chris Gee, coinciding with celebrations to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Drax Power Station, and with proceeds (after expenses) going to charity.
Europhoenix-owned 37901 had only been repainted into this late-1980s livery, BR Trainload Freight with metals sub-sector logos, a few weeks earlier. It was a late replacement at this event for 47830; 47830, recently sold by Freightliner to the Locomotive Services Group, had failed its Fitness to Run exam a couple of days previously, and Europhoenix came to the rescue on the day before the event with a replacement loco! Note that instead of a depot logo on the diamond-shaped cast plate (a feature of this livery), the Europhoenix logo appears.
The two MGR coal hoppers had been moved from the Chasewater Railway (by road), their owners being the National Wagon Preservation Group. The HDA and HMA types are HAA wagons which have been modified during their life.
Some might argue that a 37 on an MGR coal train was not authentic, especially at Drax, and they might be right - pairs of 37s were usually used in South Wales, and in this livery they would have coal subsector decals. But why wouldn't a single 37 end up collecting two random wagons? This isn't a full-length coal train. But even if it's not authentic, it certainly looks the part!
A big thanks to all involved, especially the staff of Drax Power Station, for allowing this event to keep going long after the planned 10.30pm finish time. There was a very long delay in setting up the cameo featuring the class 20s (which had been brought in just for the evening, having worked the Branch Line Society tour during the day), and we did not start photographing them until well after 11pm. Many had expected not to get shots of the 37, but all that needed to happen to set up this scene was for the 20s to haul the wagons and the 37 (which was coupled to the rear) through the coal unloader, and park them in the right place; the portable LED lights were turned but not moved, and the loco was started up (so that cab lights and headlights could be switched on and left on). While one of the early groups was taking their photos, the 20s moved out of the way, which didn't take very long. I took my photos of 37901 just after midnight (so the photos show as having been taken on the morning of Sunday 18th, even though I've numbered them as Saturday 17th), packed up, was taken back to the site entrance by minibus, removed my PPE, and set off for home a little before 12.30am.
This wasn't the planned location for the 37: we were going to photograph it emerging from the north end of the coal unloader (so the fact there were only two wagons would not be obvious), but that would have necessitated moving the lights. This spot was probably better, though, as at the north end there are lots of posts which restrict your angle and get in the way. The only problem here is the bright lights in the background, but they're at the back of the train and not a major distraction.
Manipulation notes: Cab interior replaced with one from another (darker) frame, as it was slightly too bright otherwise.

“Posh, remind me please, do you owe me any jars of honey?” Asked Sky scratching his head with his paw because remembering was always so difficult to do.
“No Sky, I never owe you any honey. It is you that tends to owe me honey, which by the way, I never seem to have returned.”
“Really, I am so surprised. Bertie, do you owe me any honey?”
“No Sky, nobody owes you any honey. I have noticed that your honey goes so fast, nobody has any chance of borrowing any from you. Why do you ask?”
“I think I made a mental note that someone owed me honey and now I have forgotten who it was and I’m asking everyone so I can reclaim my honey back.”
“Sky, I think that mental note should have been that you owe honey to various bears and you need to begin paying them back.” Said Posh Bear.
“Posh, is it my birthday this week? Maybe today?” Sky asked, changing the subject while looking hopefully at his friend.
“No Sky, that is many sleeps away. Why did you hope it was today?” Asked Posh Bear smiling.
“I just did, that is all.” Sighed Sky. “I wonder when the man’s grocery delivery is coming, has anyone heard, because we do have a problem?”
“No Sky, you do the ordering. If there is a delivery coming then you should know. So, what is the problem?” Said Bertie.
“Well, the problem is I may not be able to order honey on the picture screen in future.”
“Why is that Sky, is the man not having his groceries delivered now?” Asked Posh looking rather alarmed at this news. “Is this what all this advertising is about?”
“I think he is still having his things delivered, Posh, it is he has this new card or plastic thingy. He cut the other one up as they renewed it you see. Well, the new one when I fed the numbers in kept asking me for things called, numbers for a secure payment, so Elli says. Anyway, it didn’t like the keys things that I bashed and so wouldn’t let me order.” He said looking worried.
“Next time, Sky, the man uses the card watch him closely and see what keys he presses, and then use them.” Suggested Bertie.
“Been there and done that Bertie. The trouble is that the man’s fingers are too fast for my brain. What is more there were a lot of keys being bashed and my brain couldn’t possibly remember all those bashes on its own.”
“Very well then, what we’ll need to do is this.” Suggested Posh Bear. “You, Sky, will watch for the first two bashes, Bertie, you’ll watch for the next two bashes and I’ll watch for the final bashes and then we’ll put it all together so we’ll have the code in full.”
“That is a good idea Posh, and we’ll do that.” Said Bertie smiling as he looked at his two friends. “What we could also do is to ask Ice Cap to watch and he’ll remember them all on his own. I think it is all that fish he eats; he is clever at remembering things.”
“Excellent, that is what we’ll do. Don’t worry Sky, we’ll soon have this sorted out and you ordering again very soon.” Said Posh Bear.
“That is very good Posh, you are so clever. I suggest that to celebrate how clever our Posh is and that we all have a jar or two of his honey as soon as the man has finished with his three-legged thingy and taking our picture.” Said Sky.
“What a great idea, Sky. I think we should do just that. The man is finished now, come on Posh, let us start to celebrate.” Said Bertie already licking his lips in expectation.
“Good thinking, Bertie, but you and Sky watch the man in case he uses the picture taking thing to order, and I’ll go and have some honey and if I remember I’ll bring you two some later.” Said Posh Bear.
“What does he mean by, “if” Sky, I never knew that Posh was losing his memory.”
“Well, Bertie, he has had many sleeps, and the memory is the first thing to go so they say. Don’t worry though, I recognised the signs and took the liberty of borrowing a couple of jars from his stash earlier.”

Very often, when I look at Santa Bárbara Harbor, all those masts remind me of the Surrender of Breda, as painted by Velázquez in 1635. I will have to visit Madrid some day to see it at the Prado.

Stadtverkehrsgesellschaft mbH Frankfurt Oder (SVF): in some eastern German cities it is still possible to see trams made by ČKD Tatra.
This is the case of Frankfurt (Oder), where we see the tram number 226 (KT4DM, built in 1990 and modernized in 1995) leaving the Zentrum stop, working a service on line 1 to Neuberesinchen.
Behind, at the stop, tram number 218 of the same model, built in 1987 and modernized in 1994.

I am not serious wine drinker. But I enjoy talking to people when they are having a cup of wine, more relaxed and more easy going. With Covid19 social restrictions, we may still enjoy the wine while being connected to friends on line. Yeah, maybe a party on line is not a bad idea. Cheers!

This is an image of the inside of an old computer case, looking toward the back, where the power supply once was. The eye is looking at the camera through the empty computer to show that the privacy that we think we have is an illusion, in particular on-line. The computer is empty because there is nothing between those expecting privacy and those who are looking. To me this extends to cameras that track events in urban centers. At times this lack of privacy is an intrusion, and at other times, it seems like it is protection against crime, or that it can at least help track down villains before they can run too far. The image is direct from the camera and was not altered in software. The eye is paper and is about three times larger than an actual eye. The eye image is sitting about two centimeters beyond the opening of the computer case and it is about thirty centimeters from the lens. I hope you like the result.

I had the opportunity to visit the Brooklyn Army Terminal this past weekend. This building was built to serve as a major departing point for WWI because at that time there was no port large enough to expedite military shipments. Sadly, even though this structure was built in a crazy fast time, it was 10 months late. Essentially it missed WWI because by the time it came on line, the war was coming to an end. Another interesting note, Elvis departed from this port and because of his fame, they allowed the fans to wave him goodbye.

It is fascinating to hear what some people have been up to, before and during the lockdown.👂👂
An example of this were the actions of Mrs Trebogus, her sister Trixie Trebillcock and Betty Beswetherick, shall we say these three ladies are of mature years but nobodies fool.👵👵👵
At the beginning of March following their instincts the three ladies decided to move in together. They had several articulated lorry loads of beer delivered by Sharps Brewery, plus quite a consignment from Camel Valley Vineyard. 🚛🚛🚛🍺🍺🍺🍷🍷🍷
Mrs Trebogus always kept much food in her freezer, plus she had a large vegetable garden and of course the ladies culinary skills were legendary, they were well prepared. 🍖🍖🍖🍎🍏🍋🍊
The ladies felt they would be good company for each other, sure enough their hunch was proved correct as three weeks later the whole country went into lock down, which the ladies had no problem with as they were the type of people in common with so many others that did as they were told. The ladies were able to follow instruction, had respect and complied, plus these ladies all came from special forces backgrounds which required them working in some hostile environments, Trixie worked as a bouncer at Mothercare for many years, yes these ladies are tough.👹👹👹
As the lockdown progressed many on line fitness videos sprang up, the ladies were very keen to keep themselves in peak condition so they followed along with many of these workouts, however none of the videos were of such intensity in order to keep the ladies bodies in absolute peak condition, it just did not stretch the ladies enough, Mrs Trebogus had an idea.💃💃💃
She owns a Mercedes ML63 AMG, so the three ladies went into the garage, Mrs Trebogus got hold of the front bumper and lifted the Mercedes up and down in order to tone her arm muscles.
The other two ladies also carried out this manoeuvre, as mentioned they are tough.
Trixie suggested to Betty that she got underneath the Mercedes, put her feet under the bumper and lifted it up and down with her legs in order to strengthen the thighs.💪💪💪
Everything was going swimmingly then Mrs Trebogus had a go as she likes to keep her thighs in special peak condition, there was an enormous crack, Mrs Trebogus’s left leg fell off. Nothing to do with the vacuum cleaner incident I must add.
Like you do, Mrs Trebogus dusted herself off and said this is not a problem as my car is an automatic (You still have to be there) but when the time comes and we are allowed out I still have my right leg in order to be able to drive. So she picked up her leg, hopped over and placed it in the big chest freezer she had in the garage.🏡
Trixie said “you should seek medical help”, no responded Mrs Trebogus we know the rules, we have been instructed to stay home, not to go out, we will wait until the lockdown is eased, I can still walk on the one good leg, do cart wheels with a slight shimmy, so I have nothing to complain about. Anyway like so many people, if we were really desperate there is always someone locally that can help out, that is human instinct. 🏃♀️💪
The weeks went by, sure enough, some of the lockdown measures were eased and in May people were allowed to drive for over an hour, but return on the same day. Not wishing to trouble the medical profession, Mrs Trebogus went onto the internet to look for alternative medical assistance, one name caught her eye, Mystic Peg, who specialised in limb reattachment services.👩💻
As Mrs Trebogus herself had worked with some of our special forces, she respected the anonymity of Mystic Peg who would only provide her post code, and a time to meet.👩💼
Like most of us long car journeys need to be planned, first you need a full tank of petrol, how many people keep a full tank of fuel just in case they need to go off at a minutes notice. Mrs Trebogus went and filled her Mercedes with fuel so that they could go off to the secret location.⛽️🚘
The sat nav coordinates were plumbed in and after quite some journey the three ladies reached their destination. Sure enough as our ladies got out of the car a fairy was waiting dressed in a Knights of the round table uniform, yes this was Mystic Peg, she said “come with me”, so Mrs Trebogus, with her leg under her arm, Trixie and Betty followed, they all set off into a park, keeping two meters away from Mystic Peg
Mystic Peg instructed Mrs Trebogus to sit on a special little stool, with a bit of her left hip hanging over the edge of the stool. Mystic Peg asked Mrs Trebogus to align the detached leg against her hip. Mystic Peg closed her eyes, muttered a couple of words and within moments, hey presto Mrs Trebogus’s leg was reattached and working like a new one.
As you can imagine (I can) Mrs Trebogus was so grateful to Mystic Peg for her services and asked what she owed her. Mystic Peg said "it is my pleasure to help good people like you and really it was such a simple job".😇👛👜💷💷💷
Mystic Peg went on to say, “as I have not seen many people for a while could I share a confidence with you Mrs Trebogus. Well don’t tell anyone but during the lockdown we had been made aware of a bloke who drove to this very location who could not see his hand in front of his face.
As none of us were on duty during lockdown he allegedly sat over there on a park bench, he gazed up towards the Magic Castle, bingo his eyesight came back, a miracle and he was able to drive all the way home to London”.🏰🙈😱
Mrs Trebogus responded to the fairy “you just cannot make that up”.😉
Thank you so much for looking at my photographs, the comments and banter you leave are so appreciated.
Have a good weekend
🍺🍺🍺🍷🍷🍷🐎🐷💃😎😂😂😂
