The rediscovery of these two photos of mine taken with the small Panasonic DMC-FS7 in 2012 was quite a revelation. I will grant that these are not snapshots - I hope it is possible to see the difference. But my compositional emphasis on line and form certainly comes to the fore here. The camera performed extremely well for its limitations.
The Sydney Opera House was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon (1918-2008) after winning a competition staged by the NSW government in 1957. From then on however, the whole process was a nightmare for the architect as he was constantly harassed by political interests to have certain parts of the building redesigned to save costs. Utzon resigned in disgust on February 28, 1966, and never visited Australia again.
Essentially the exterior of the building complied with Utzon's radical design, but the interior was never completed as planned. A cheaper alternative meant poorer acoustics than would be expected in a landmark building such as this. In recent years considerable work has been done to right these wrongs, and the Opera House is now almost the masterpiece that Utzon intended.

FOOTNOTE: Quite hilariously an architecture group just rejected this photograph. Flickr really does have some idiot group admins doesn't it! Probably because I didn't include the whole building. But that's why this is a composed photograph. The point of the ship is to highlight the comparison with the "sails" of the building!
Anyone for real Majong? Not the on- line matching pairs game some of us play when we're really bored. This is the Chinese version originated in the Quing Dynasty (1636 - 1912). A modern day comparison to this intricate game is Canasta.

Take during an organized walk with some friends. We met, to take some pictures of the various under ground stations here in Munich.
Goal was to take pictures of several stations within Munic. There is even an dedicated group on flickr, www.flickr.com/groups/u-bahn-muenchen/
For this trip, we decided on line U2, starting from the final stop Feldmoching towards main station.
A breath of fresh air, after leaving the station Dülfer Straße, with a short stop the surface to the colorful surface of the shopping mall Mira. Smaller part of the wall in even light.
And if you look carefully, on the brighter parts there are reflections from the clouds above.

Fairly new GE B23-7 2201 is leading XW-1 southward on the main line passing the former location of the Millbury rr station. The 2201 was built by GE for the P&W in March of 1978. XW-1 will head south and work all on line customers to Woonsocket and work the Slatersville Secondary.

I'm not sure what this Variable Oystercatcher snagged, but whatever it was turned out to be disappointing, because the bird was back in the water within seconds...!

I've posted a day shot of this ship but I feel like the night shot looks interesting. I just found out Galveston is offering day sails to tourist. Checked it out on line and it's $300 dollars a person. So, looks like I won't be going out for a day sail anytime soon.

RELATIVELY LARGE with a huge red and black bill. Mostly solitary and territorial in most aquatic habitats. This one is stretching its wings, in readiness to take off, if I get any closer. A beautiful kingfisher, seen at the Kotu area !

The MIRACULOUS STAIRS in Santa Fe New Mexico USA.
The stairs have a very interesting story that I recommend reading on-line.
The stairs were made without nails, screws, or glue. Their is no center post and it is free standing with wood that is not indigenous in the USA.
It was made by a carpenter who no one knows, knocked at the door of the chapel asking if they wanted stairs to be built so that they can get to the loft after the nuns had a novena to St. Joseph asking for the stairs. The carpenter left without asking or receiving anything for his labor when the stairs was completed.
The stairs was initially built without railings. The railings were added a few years after.
The stairs was used by the choir for 100 years.
Remote learning, phone visit to your doctor, virtual concerts, grocery truck delivery, robots take-out delivery, zoom business meetings. Those are only some of the changes and benefits mankind experienced in last 2 years. Remote Colonoscopy is much less invasive, having a boss looking over your shoulder is the thing of the past.

This is complicated (at least for me).
All of this begs the question - who was the first pair of Royal Terns that came up with these mating rituals? And Why. And how did humans follow in their footsteps with equally weird mating rituals, engagements and weddings, receptions and marriage. If birds could go on-line, would they use on-line chat and dating sites as a resource to find a mate?

After working from home again today (luckily I am able to do that with my occupation), took a walk outside near my home where there is an osprey nest nearby. Lots of action near the nest today and fun to be there and get some lens time snapping away. A nice break from the nearly constant coordination and on-line meetings that filled the day.
The work I do is considered essential ... but I am still able to do nearly all of it without having to be in the office. So staying home as much as possible and only venturing out as needed to address items at project sites. The coordination between staff on our design projects is actually more time consuming when not able to discuss in person as a Team, but we are getting used to the on-line collaboration and coordination. The days actually seem shorter time wise ... but also longer as the coordination seems to almost never end considering the need to stay in touch. Bit of a paradox actually.

Mrs. Krach is also back to doing some on-line teaching with her students, and in her spare time continues to make medical masks for the local hospitals. She has made over 160 masks so far in the past week. More of the local hospitals as asking for more.
