Ban Sala are a notable geological landmarks in Nan Province, located in northern Thailand. It is also known as the "Stone Pillars of Nan" or "Clay Pagoda" in English. These sites consist of impressive limestone pillars that rise from the ground, similar to the hoodoos in Bryce Canyon in the United States. These striking formations are the result of millions of years of erosion by rainwater and wind, which has worn away the softer layers of rock and left behind the harder layers that make up the pillars. What makes these places truly unique is the combination of the scenery and scenic surroundings of Nan. The green valleys and vast rice paddies add an extra layer of beauty to the experience. Visitors can explore the area via hiking trails and viewing platforms, where they can take in breathtaking views of the jagged pillars and surrounding landscape. It is a great place to enjoy the peace and serenity of nature and take unique photos.

Ban Sala ligt gelegen naast Si Nan National Park.

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful waterfalls, lush forests and spectacular views. Wonderfully cool weather all year round. In addition, there are also several hill tribe villages along the way, where you have the chance to experience the local culture and traditions.

Thailand is home to several beautiful national parks that showcase the country's diverse natural beauty. The Doi Phu Kha National Park is located near the border between Thailand and Laos. The National Park is also home to the highest mountain peak in the province. The highest point is also called Doi Phu Kha at an altitude of 1,920 meters. If you are traveling to Doi Phu Kha National Park from Nan, I will definitely recommend staying here for a night. Most of the year the weather is nice and the view is stunning early in the morning. A moderate intensity nature trail with a large map detailing the route starts behind the National Park Visitor Center and continues for 2km, ending at a small village. The most beautiful is the viewpoint with a very large 1715 digits representing the height of the point. There is also a campground near the area. But you have to bring your own tent. It takes about 2 hours to complete. However, there is definitely some climbing to do. Please wear trekking boots for the hike. The monsoon is not the best time to do this as there are many leeches and other reptiles that you may not appreciate. Photo of Kanitha and sister Chada at an altitude of 1,715 meters.

A beautiful spring day exploring the back roads and landscapes of Baker County Oregon near the towns of Keating and Baker City.

Spent the day watching the seasons change in Eastern Oregon, with big dramatic skies. Lots of baby calves beginning to arrive on the nearby ranches, and while it’s a little early for spring migration still but spotted a few fun birds including lots of Red Tail Hawks and several nesting great horned owls.

I found the Land of the Ents. I now know where they are hiding.

I will not reveal their secrets or their sanctuary.

I swear I could hear them whispering...

or was it the gentle breeze above me?

An hour north, there is still three feet of snow in the woods.

I like it though, it let's me access places I couldn't, were there none.

It let's me off the beaten path.

Big Horn Sheep in Burnt River Canyon in Baker County

A beautiful New Year’s Day exploring the Burnt River Canyon and watching wildlife between Durkee and Unity in Baker County Oregon with lots of Bighorn Sheep out to help us ring in the new year.

The Burnt River Canyon near Durkee is always one of our favorite drives for taking in the majestic scenery of Eastern Oregon and watching wildlife along the way. Saw lots of wildlife this trip as colder temperatures have pushed lots of deer down into the canyon. We were excited to spot a few Bighorn Sheep in rut during this trip

Pleasants Valley Road, one of my favorite places in northern California. There were many old wooden barns along the drive, and dirt side roads framed by beautiful old growth oak trees. The golden yellow grass you see here is one of the reasons California is called the Golden State (besides the Gold Rush, of course). Sadly this grass color is due to dry conditions, and - coupled with hot, dry winds - it expoded into wildfire in August, 2022: The so-called "Pleasants" fire destroyed everything in its path, including homes and the highly-flammable wood of old rustic barns. Some people were injured, and livestock were lost. It was heartbreaking seeing it from the first fire reports. Some of my brother and sister firefighters responded hundreds of miles to help fight that fire and numerous others in the area.

Civita di Bagnoregio was founded by the Etruscans more than 2,500 years ago. It was, for a time, part of the Etruscan's principle route to Rome. Nowadays it is famously known as "the dying city" due to the progressive erosion of the foundation beneath the town.

Nye Beach in Newport, Oregon. Fun little beach with some shops and dining. It was “COVID Quiet” like many other places we stopped. We sat on a bench at the turnaround just above the beach and enjoyed the view. Easy parking, easy access to the beach. And the few people we saw were friendly. It was a great stop.

Follow the Little Dog for adventure. Just because he is tiny, doesn't mean he isn't mighty.

We got our long hike in on Thursday as we are going back into a super deep freeze this weekend.

On our round about adventure we covered 4 miles! Found many places were ice was forming and discovered all sorts of visually amazing places.

:)

Glad we didn't wait!

Aerial view of the Katskhi pillar, a huge natural limestone monolith that rises 131 feet into the air, with a small church on the top, overlooking the river valley of Katskhura, situated at the village of Katskhi in Imereti region, western Georgia.

The church on top of the pillar was built in the 6th to 8th centuries, dedicated to Maximus the Confessor, a famous Christian monk and theologian. It is commonly regarded as one of the most isolated churches in the world. There's also a burial chamber, a wine cellar, three hermit cells and a curtain wall.

Each day, monks living below make the nerve-jangling 20-minute ascent via a thin metal ladder bolted to the side of the rock. The daily pilgrimage to say prayers at the top is said to bring them closer to God.
