This Amutec orange sport car ride is a video option ride, while the ride messages work the ride does not make sound nor does the video screen work.

Forest near the outlet of Heather Lake.

A beautiful lake at the end of a steep, rocky, muddy trail with many tree roots that provide foot holds. It is only 2 miles long and starts out rather benignly.

Although it was the first day of summer, there were a few patches of snow lingering around the lake, so the foliage was a very fresh, spring green.

The Huntley Outlet Mall closed last year in 2017. Many of the stores were long gone by early 2017. It once was home to about 40 stores. The mall was recently demolished

Dusky shot of the outlet (sewage?) at Ryhope beach. It sticks out the end of a crusty concrete jetty.

Taken in spring this year, exposure around 2 minutes, shot on Pan F50.

Then how can you say that I never try...

WEEK 32 – Wolfchase Ollie’s, Set II

Ollie’s signature 7-and-½ Commandments are located just to the side of the checkout counters – in larger-than-life size, to boot! Not only does this grab your attention and fill a lot of otherwise empty wall space, it’s also cleverly placed so that it rounds that corner, which I liked. Unfortunately, my shot of the commandments somewhat blurred, but you should hopefully still be able to make most of them out. Or, read ‘em online here.

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

This BAFCO Tow Truck ride is an Eletech refurb.

Here's a few looking down the north corridor beside the Nike Factory Store. This was the last area of the mall to be completed, at least exterior-wise. The sign tower on the front of the complex was still missing it's signage two weeks prior to grand opening day, as seen in this photo: flic.kr/p/AtSd4W.

My canon rebel performs terribly when it comes to noise...so this is just about the best I could do. Not to self next time use the in camera long exp noise reduction...

Also for this shot I composed based off of a 30sec shot at ISO 1600 to see if i was level, and I WAYY over corrected and ended up with a terribly crooked shot. I ended up having to crop out a lot of this photo.

So i made two rookie mistakes in this shoot........but it's alright, now i know for next time.

about 30 min exposure. @f5.6

This BAFCO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shellraiser Van ride is an Eletech refurb, it has the 1987 TMNT series theme, the buttons do not make the turtles speak or sound the horn, instead they make spring noises.

G.H. Bass & Company has been in the shoemaking business since 1876, and now has other apparel as well. Often the long standing logo is seen in this form (static1.squarespace.com/static/52d3143be4b0c7203219d424/t...), but can also be seen as "G.H. Bass & Company" (www.visitmysmokies.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/3d10cdf...) as well.

Glad that the outlet mall is using my pic in their web site :-) would be happier if they informed me :-(

This area is closed off during Spring and Summer because of protecting snowy plover nesting sites. Even though it is more than a half hour from my house, it is hard to stay away this time of year and I was happy to have a clear night for shooting last night and got to take a friend out who hadn't shot stars before. It was so beautiful. The balance between noise and sharpness in star photos is tricky!

A steamy hot outlet, part of the Krafla power station, Iceland.

The Krafla Power Station is a 60 MW geothermal power station located near the Krafla Volcano in Iceland. It is the nation's largest geothermal power station, drawing heat from some 33 boreholes, about 15 of which are used at any one time (wikipedia)

This is the United Grocery Outlet in Hazard, KY. The store is located at 410 Village Lane, and it was originally a Winn-Dixie supermarket that had opened in 1984 along with the rest of the Hazard Village Shopping Center. It, along with Rose's and Goody's, were the main anchors. It was the second of the main anchors to close in November 2004. It remained vacant until 2006, when United Grocery Outlet took over. In October 2011, a locally-owned bar and grill called Jabo's State of Mine (so called due to the fact that coal mining is a large source of income to many people in the area) has opened in the right-hand side of the store.

The sign since has been replaced with American Freight

Mono Lake is a large, shallow saline soda lake in Mono County, California, formed at least 760,000 years ago as a terminal lake in an endorheic basin. The lack of an outlet causes high levels of salts to accumulate in the lake. These salts also make the lake water alkaline.

This desert lake has an unusually productive ecosystem based on brine shrimp that thrive in its waters, and provides critical habitat for two million annual migratory birds that feed on the shrimp and alkali flies. Historically, the native Kutzadika'a people derived nutrition from the Ephydra hians pupae, which live in the shallow waters around the edge of the lake.

When the city of Los Angeles diverted water from the freshwater streams flowing into the lake, it lowered the lake level, which imperiled the migratory birds.

Mono Lake occupies part of the Mono Basin, an endorheic basin that has no outlet to the ocean. Dissolved salts in the runoff thus remain in the lake and raise the water's pH levels and salt concentration. The tributaries of Mono Lake include Lee Vining Creek, Rush Creek and Mill Creek which flows through Lundy Canyon.

The basin was formed by geological forces over the last five million years: basin and range crustal stretching and associated volcanism and faulting at the base of the Sierra Nevada. Five million years ago, the Sierra Nevada was an eroded set of rolling hills and Mono Basin and Owens Valley did not yet exist.

From 4.5 to 2.6 million years ago, large volumes of basalt were extruded around what is now Cowtrack Mountain (east and south of Mono Basin); eventually covering 300 square miles (780 km2) and reaching a maximum thickness of 600 feet (180 m). Later volcanism in the area occurred 3.8 million to 250,000 years ago. This activity was northwest of Mono Basin and included the formation of Aurora Crater, Beauty Peak, Cedar Hill (later an island in the highest stands of Mono Lake), and Mount Hicks.

Mono Lake is believed to have formed at least 760,000 years ago, dating back to the Long Valley eruption. Sediments located below the ash layer hint that Mono Lake could be a remnant of a larger and older lake that once covered a large part of Nevada and Utah, which would put it among the oldest lakes in North America. At its height during the most recent ice age, the lake would have been about 900 feet (270 m) deep. Prominent old shore lines, called strandlines by geologists, can be seen west of the Lake.

Currently, Mono Lake is in a geologically active area at the north end of the Mono–Inyo Craters volcanic chain and is close to Long Valley Caldera. Volcanic activity continues in the Mono Lake vicinity: the most recent eruption occurred 350 years ago, resulting in the formation of Paoha Island. Panum Crater (on the south shore of the lake) is an example of a combined rhyolite dome and cinder cone.

Tufa towers

Many columns of limestone rise above the surface of Mono Lake. These limestone towers consist primarily of calcium carbonate minerals such as calcite (CaCO3). This type of limestone rock is referred to as tufa, which is a term used for limestone that forms in low to moderate temperatures.
