Well your love keeps me alive, you're all I need to survive.

I got you by my side.

So I'm holding on, feeling strong, baby you're the one for all my life.

I'm holding on to love to save my life...

This waterfall drops onto the beach near Devil's Punch Bowl in Oregon. I have no idea what the falls are called, if you know, let me know. I wish I had an image of me taking this shot, because it was raining, I was balancing on rocks to keep from getting wet, and I had a umbrella over my the tripod, which also had water rushing past it. The whole scene was funny, but I wanted to get an image and I was not going to let the weather beat me. Not sure I won.

Taken in Acadia National Park, this is along the Schooner Head.

Low tide allowed me to get down between some of the large rock formations onto the smaller cobble stones - they are of many colors there. Extended the shutter here to smooth out the ocean waves and swells there along the shore.

I also took a capture of this long exposure capture being taken here ... and that may show up in my 'if they can see what we can see series'. To get that shot I was back up against some other large rocks ... a tight spot there. Also had to make sure no large swells came in during this long exposure ... every several minutes larges ones came in father into the rocks. Had to abort this capture more than once ;)) That involved grabbing the camera and tripod before the ocean decided to take them away from me ...

I took this at around 550 metres elevation on a bluff listed on the OS map as Cuingard looking down onto Forter Castle and the upper reaches of Glenisla. Just outside the Cairngorms National Park by maybe 1/4 or 1/2 a mile.

Vanessa Hudgens holds onto her Gibson Flying V guitar as she stands front and center on the official poster for her upcoming flick, Bandslam.

In the flick, a high school outcast (Gaelan Connell) bonds with a popular girl (Alyson Michalka) over their shared love of music and results in them assembling a rock group that looks to win their school’s upcoming battle of the bands competition.

Bandslam hits theaters on Friday, August 14th.

Lights casting onto the ocean from the above. This was a very dramatic scene viewing from the balcony of our airbnb.

Ran onto campus for my 11th "Squirrel Run" at the University of Michigan since our work from home started to combat COVID-19. It was a lovely sunny Spring day in Michigan on Thursday May 21st, 2020. Besides seeing all the squirrels and feeding them (with a big old bag of peanuts), it was quite exciting even though I was not on campus that long. Saw lots of chipmunks and rabbits as well. I did see lots of mommas and juveniles out and about, including a cute young one by the Museum of Art. Sending love and virtual hugs from Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I have been holding onto this flick for years. ORFN is my favorite writer of all time, hands down. I feel so lucky to have spent one day kicking it in Oakland. I did not know him well but he was so down to earth and easy to be around. There will never be another like him. Graffiti is not as big a part of my life as it used to be, but years ago the impact ORFN had on me changed me forever. A true legend and someone who put so much beautiful energy out into the world. RIP KING

How did the 156 get tied onto this consist? It's late July, 1975 and it's also getting late for these classic FM H16-44's, sitting together at Bensenville in what looks like an EPA super-site. The 406, 404, and 402 represented a fleet of 37 of the big Fairbanks-Morse roadswitchers. I believe they were off the roster within the next two years. The 156, meanwhile, enjoyed a much better fate, being painted in the Milwaukee's Bi-Centennial scheme. A couple of days after this picture was taken, it would join other red, white, and blue jobs for in Bedord Park for a classic portrait by TRAINS magazine.

(We're into Dad's second week of holidays, so we thought we'd take you onto the Prescott-Russell Trail with us today for a good look around. The series shown is put together from walks over the past week or so.

After this we will be taking a break from Flickr for a couple of weeks to re-energize us for the future. We in no way are tiring of the experience, but we need to think things over and possibly re-assess our direction.)

In some areas, housing developments are encroaching upon

the Trail. This is inevitable of course, and will bring more traffic, which Dad thinks is bitter-sweet, as he loves the solitude we find in most of our walks, but he understands that it is such a wonderful attraction that it can only see more people as time goes by.

Onto another lens I picked up for the Sony A6300. I doubt a cheaper or smaller lens could be found. Black Friday Sale price from Amazon including shipping was only $72.45 CAD ($54.16 USD) It is so small and only sticks out from the camera about 0.25". It looks likes a body cap with a tiny piece of glass in the center. It is the 7Artisans 18mm UFO ii, with a fixed aperture of f6.3 designed for use on an APS-c sensor, giving an approximate view of 27mm on a full frame camera so it is moderately wide.

Build quality is more than fine as it is pretty much all metal. There is a focus ring that turns quite smoothly.

Image quality...it is really only sharp in the center. Get a way from center just a bit and it is soft, borders and corners are downright smeary. I have posted a decent sized image here so in full view you can see what I mean.

Flare...absolutely terrible when facing the sun or a bright object.

Distortion is fairly bad, but easily correctable in photoshop at a setting of +14

Vignetting is pretty terrible as well. In photoshop I use settings of 70 for Vignette with a midpoint value of 30. those numbers are pretty high

Having said all of that it really is a fun little lens to play with and under the right conditions and wanting a certain character look it can still be useful. Here it makes for an acceptable look as the center is where most of the subject is while the perimeter is clouds and snow for the most part which which really needs little detail, so if one works with the limitations it can still produce useable images, especially if one is only shooting for posting lower resolution on the internet.

About the shot, I am standing on one of the mounds at the Bike Pump track at Hillside park. I liked the sweeping curve pointing towards the hill. Being a very dreary day I gave a cool blue tone to the monochrome image. (Under hue/saturation tab, (CTRL-U or CMD-U) and checked the Colourize box, and entered settings of 208 for hue and 8 for saturation)

Death Valley, California

We’re standing at the mouth of the Natural Bridge Canyon, looking west over what is usually a dry salt flat, but which is now the reincarnation of Lake Manly. The Panamint mountains are reflected in its salty waters.

In August 2023 the remnants of a Pacific hurricane dropped a year’s worth of precipitation onto Death Valley in one day. The park was closed for over two months while roads and infrastructure were repaired. When I visited in early December 2023, the water was still there, albeit slowly evaporating, and road repairs were continuing.

When waves crash onto the rocks, there are a few pathways on the cliffs that lead to small waterfalls like these. The Paradise Park Cliffs has tons of cool spots to see. I love the look of the contrast between the water and the rocks.

I almost slipped onto this formation as I was walking on the large sheets of broken shoreline ice at Cherry Beach, Toronto on Lake Ontario. The temperatures have been so cold this past month and there are many chunks of blue ice scattered in the layers.

I went to Lincolnshire for a couple of days last weekend. I've always liked this area near Barton and there is a beautiful yellow house with red phonebox in front of it.

I love the contrasting colours and this time there was a lone plant growing between the two.

I tried shooting the whole box, wall and adjacent bench but it didn't do anything for me. However, when I knelt down and saw this I realised this was the shot I was looking for. So, I took this.

This was clinging onto life through the pebbled ground and probably a metaphor for how I feel at this moment.

Raw images, stacked in Affinity Photo, edited in Darktable and Gimp. The software colour profiles were all set to ProPhoto. The jpeg copy above was adjusted to closely resemble the colour output produced by the ProPhoto colour profiles. The original raw images straight out of the camera were much more heavily saturated, but I preferred the colour tones produced by the ProPhoto colour profile so I reproduced the colours in jpeg but with just a little less saturation.
