Jaspyr climbed up onto the roof of one of the old byres…Here, he is trying to work out how to get back down. Safely.
Years ago, when he was just a kitten, this big eejit found himself on the very apex of one of the byre roofs. He proceeded to slide straight down, with his front feet splayed, like snowploughing skis, in a foiled attempt to halt his downward plummet. He (and I) got a real fright. Fortunately, he was perfectly fine, if a little shaken and hiding under my bed. Very rare to see him on any of the roofs…

The Black Swan wanted to return from the field to the pond. Here he has eye contact with a mute swan that does not want to let him back onto the pond.
Der Trauerschwan wollte gerne vom Feld zurück in den Teich. Hier hat er Blickkontakt zu einem Höckerschwan, der ihn nicht auf den Teich zurücklassen will.

As I made it up Doddick Fell's initial steep grassy slope onto the bottom of its broad ridge I was blessed with a very brief burst of sunshine. As I crested the slope I was gobsmacked to see a complete rainbow - below me, I stood transfixed for a moment before fumbling for the camera safely stowed from the rain in my coat. Thankfully I got off a couple of shots before the sun and rainbow disappeared from sight.

I don't know what made me chose these particular words the evening before the world woke up to the hideous assault being perpetrated on the Ukraine.
But words can be potent - guns and missiles only bring blood and death - words are what we, who don't bear arms, have as our weapons.
Words of unity, of love, of support. Words matter.
I hope, with all my heart - that the people of Ukraine will triumph in their fight. My tears are theirs.

Yes. Another fidget spinner. And another whirlgig? Well, not quite. It's a rotating spintop-like thingy that isn't a real spintop which I've placed onto a rotating fidget spinner. So what is this spintop that isn't a spintop? It's a transparent part of my moon globe which I don't use on the moon globe, because I use the moon globe as a decorative lamp hanging from the ceiling. That's where a moon belongs, doesn't it? When I disassembled the moon globe to turn it into a lamp I noticed that the small piece at the bottom (and does an orb have a bottom?) that connects the globe with its stand and makes the globe spin around its axis actually makes a perfect spintop. I've always wanted to use this thingy – how about "moonspin"? – for an MM theme. But how should I make the motion visible with an item that is transparent and runs so smoothly that you can hardly see any motion? I used my makeshift colour filters for some colourful accents and then I put the moonspin onto the non-rotating centre part of the rainbow coloured fidget spinner (and the fidget spinner also added some extra mortion blur). I got the best result when I waited until the moonspin got slower and began to wobble – just before it stopped to rotate.
This was actually only a test shot, but I didn't have much time to do more this weekend (or Monday), so I decided to stick to it, because while it's not exactly an original idea for the theme, I like the outcome. What I also like is how well the IBIS of my camera works, because this, again, is a handheld image. I didn't use an ND filter, because I've taken the capture last evening when it was already dark outside. Since it was only a testshot I also didn't bother to place the fidget spinner and the moonspin on / against a "proper" background, but just grabbed the black velvet adhesive foil I'd bought recently to repair the palm rest of my keyboard, propped it against a vase and put the spinning thingies in front of it. Which is the reason this moonspin rotates in Fuzziverse, because the velvet foil, while nice to the touch (as it should be), is fuzzy. Pleasantly fuzzy and soft for my hands, fuzziverse fuzzy in a macro image. Processed, as usual, in DXO PhotoLab 4, then I went into Luminar AI to enhance the details and saturation, and finally into Analog Efex – and the white vignette actually is an accident, but I think it added more depth to the image than a totally black background would have. I also like how the vignette highlighted some of the velvety fluff which added a nice starry look :)
The "moonspin" is 4,5 cm / 1,77 inches in diameter, so I had to crop the image quite considerably (and I really didn't like to do that this time, because I think the image looks nicer with more negative space, but it's "To be in MMs or not to be in MMs", isn't it?), so the width here is exactly 3 inches.
Happy Macro Monday, Everyone, and have a nice and safe week ahead!

Not the safest image I have ever taken, wiring the steel mesh as the 220 volt neutral and a wire soldered onto the base contact of the bulb for the live.
The mesh was backed with tracing paper, and lit through with a circular gobo attached to a single strobe..

Onto the canvas once more, my eyes dance with her Autumn rhythm.
With each turn, her leaves flow slowly like hair in a gentle breeze.
Around and around we go, like two lovers that just won't let go.
Alas, it came to an end, but my memories dance along with my playful grin.
Getting back to some Autumn color. This shot was taken on the trail to Hemlock Falls in northern Georgia. Wishing everyone a wonderful day ahead. Thanks for the favs and kind words. They are much appreciated!

The day I slipped a macro lens onto the body of my camera, I became addicted to studying flowers. The curl of a flower petal, the veins on a leaf and the fragile beauty of the thin filaments holding the pollen filled anthers made my heart beat more quickly. The beauty in the world is astounding. Or as Ansel Adams said, "I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful - an endless prospect of magic and wonder."
Two trees clinging onto the bracken-lined slopes of Rookland Hill (right) and Clennell Hill as they fold together above Rookland Sike as it flows towards the River Alwin (just visible to the right of the lower tree) in the Cheviot Hills.
Whilst it wasn't actually raining (that would start whilst we driving home : very convenient!) everywhere including the atmosphere was totally saturated, a very squelchy walk.
The way the slopes fold together is seen much better via the + function.
While visiting Newark Park, Gloucestershire, UK this Peacock jumped up onto a stone pillar and gave me ample opportunity to enjoy its extravagant beauty......(and to use my Tamron telephoto lens).....never seen one this close before.....such a striking and gloriously colourful bird.....

Intense sunset light hits the Pulpit Rock at the head of Portland Bill.
This intense golden light lasted only a few minutes but it was phenomenal. I managed this long exposure before breaking my ND Grad when it slipped from my frozen fingers onto the legendary Portland Stone here!
Believe it or not, but I hadn't posted this frame and found it in my files yesterday. I had posted a portrait standard exposure with this light and overlooked this one!! There was a tremendous amount of seaspray as I recall as it was very windy, so I may have overlooked it as I thought it wouldn't be sharp. But on re-examination I like it!
She slipped a ragged woollen jumper onto her sweaty body as she left the bedroom for the now chilly Tuscany night. We went down the stairs and into our courtyard, walked by the well, glancing at the last flowers by the wall, before reaching the bathroom in the old stable. We embraced under the steamy flow and I clumsily spluttered a few simple words that meant the world to me. She giggled and scolded me for being so inarticulate. She stepped out of the shower, wrapped a towel around her breasts, paused a few seconds, then turned around with her gentlest smile, and whispered...."yes I do".
This is us.
Qui parle de bonheur a souvent les yeux tristes

Une corde brisée aux doigts du guitariste
Et pourtant je vous dis que le bonheur existe
Ailleurs que dans le rêve ailleurs que dans les nues

I was locked onto the male as he flew toward me when the female 'side-slipped' into the view finder.
Just for fun!

A house stood on this plot,, now at least three homes are going up. These are the backs of the new homes and the front is directly onto the pavement, so not homes for gardeners.
As seen on a walk.
It was a long day of hiking and my last view that day was from the Gamrig rock onto the Bastei rock formation and the Elbe river. I was going for a sunset image but the sun was hiding behind clouds. Nevertheless I got a somewhat decent shot. What do you think?
An Indian pond heron (ardeola grayii) had just hopped onto the rock when I took this shot. Photographed near Khuk Khak, Phang Nga, Thailand.
My husband took the day off. We decided to pack the truck and do the circuit through Jasper, the Icefields and then onto Abraham Lake. It is about a thirteen hour drive but every turn and twist on the road leads to another photo op and, yet, another adventure.
We took Jager, my German Shepherd. She is a wonderful companion. She is always ready to go!
I find the mountains are a challenge to put into the camera - to try to duplicate the 'Ahaa' moment that you feel as you stand in awe is a talent I have not mastered yet.
How can you interpret or communicate the grandeur and the intense enormity of a mountain that stands hovering over you into a tiny camera? It is humbling.
This photo was taken very early in the morning - the beginning of our adventure. I was driving on the highway. I was completely transfixed and elated with the sunrise that was transpiring to the left of me. I finally couldn't dismiss it any longer, so I pulled off the highway and found a desolate country road. I needed to get this photo! .
The mountains are a privilege, but to stand alive, under an open sky and bathe in the beauty of another day is a gift...

I found some light mesh in the garden for this week's theme, the challenge then was how to light it. The t light candle came to mind and I used a reflector to send a little light onto the mesh.
I did manage to drag myself up onto Skyline drive in time to catch a very pleasant sunset. Yes, me and 50 billion other people! LOL I guess the "leaf peepers" aren't ready to admit yet that the leaves have pretty much finished and fallen! But for those few hardy soles who were patient and waited until after the sun set there was a fantastic red glow in the sky and twinkling lights down in the valley. In the end it was just me and a guy in a camper taking shots. :) A beautiful way to close the Sabbath day for sure! Anita and I are off on another adventure today. and there's no telling what we will find! Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!
Cornish, Maine.
I actually made it up onto Hessian Hill in Cornish today in time to catch the sunset and it did not disappoint.
. . . They had stepped out of the party and onto the bridge . . .
Kulaan D. Dragon nodded, and turned to her. He walked, slowly, towards her as he looked to the side again. "I lied before. I suppose it's part of my education that I..." he trailed off and stopped, shaking his head and settled his eyes on the girl. "You're beautiful, every detail I notice. The hair, the gown, the butterflies, every touch of it, and every bit of you." he smiled, and took a step or two more towards her. "Even the crown. It's all so.... you." he continued, softly, almost with a touch of melancholy. "And it's more beautiful than a thousand Hogwarts." he finished.
Rya Voinea ... the poor girl was biting the inside of her cheek as he spoke. because she didn't know how to take it. Forget about the cool air outside .. she was hot enough that she couldn't even feel that. She pulled in her lower lip then and looked off to the side a moment before she replied softly.. "Tis onleh t'e costume. I will go back tae being plain meh a'ter today."

It was a snowy day here. My birding was done from my bathroom window. This Sparrow posed nicely on a rock I placed on a deck rail. I put seeds on either side of it and birds will often hop onto it. I also posted a shot of a Blue Jay on that same rock.
I put a shot in the first comment showing what my yard looked like this morning.
