Lucifer is a multinational Heavy Rock band from Stockholm. Founded in 2014 in Berlin by The Oath front woman Johanna Sadonis, the group first consisted of Cathedaral, Angel Witch and Ladytron members. The first 7” Single ‘Anubis’ and debut album ‘Lucifer I’, penned by Sadonis and Cathedral’s Garry Jennings and released by British label Rise Above Records, brought Lucifer international recognition. The band completed their line-up with Swede Robin Tidebrink from the band Saturn on second lead guitar. Lucifer has been touring the world including Europe, USA, Canada and Japan.
Lucifer’s is defined by their very heavy 1970s Hard Rock sound spiced with a good dose of Proto Heavy Metal and Doom Rock. Main influences are groups such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Blue Öyster Cult, Lucifer’s Friend, Steppenwolf, 70’s Heart and Fleetwood Mac.
With a shift of constellation within the band in 2016 and Johanna Sadonis’ move from Berlin to Stockholm, Lucifer were ready for chapter two. In Nicke Andersson, notable for his groups The Hellacopters, Entombed, Imperial State Electric, Death Breath among others, Sadonis found a new renowned writing partner. Together they wrote Lucifer’s second album ‘Lucifer II’ and produced it at Nicke’s studio The Honk Palace in Stockholm in the summer of 2017. The album was mixed by Swedish producer Ola Ersfjord at Cuervo Recording Services in Madrid.
With the critically acclaimed release of their long awaited second album ‘Lucifer II’ on Century Media on July 6th 2018 and the videos for their new singles ‘California Son’ and ‘Dreamer’, Lucifer is facing a new grand chapter. The album immediately jolted into the Swedish, German, British and American charts and received outstanding worldwide attention.
This year Lucifer played a number of international festivals like The KISS Kruise, Psycho Las Vegas, Hellfest, Desertfest, the long standing German cult TV program Rockapalast to name but a few and embarked on many European dates. Lucifer is now planning to return to Japan and the USA again this winter. With freshly recruited lead guitar players Martin Nordin and Linus Björklund, and the Austrian Alexander Mayr on bass, the band is ready to climb Mount Olympus of Rock.

One of the many thousands of such 'official' guides and handbooks issued by UK local authorities and, like many others, published on their behalf by the Cheltenham based concern of Ed. J. Burrow. They conatin information as to services, amenities and local commercial activities and this, for Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, is typical. The Borough was one of the councils reformed under the 1835 legislation and the Town Council remained the local authority until 1974 when it became part of the new Ribble Valley Borough Council; a successor parish council survives.
The front cover shows a picturesque view up towards the ruined Castle that still dominates this town. The guide is, as often the case, undated but the text lets slip that the town only recently introduced a supply of electricity in 1927 and so a date of c.1928 seems likely.
The guide makes great play on the extent of motor bus services in the vicinity and this advert is for the independent Bolton-by-Bowland Motor Services, then over the old county boundary and just inside the West Riding of Yorkshire. Owned by I. Bleazard they operated services around Bowland, Low Moor, Chatburn, Sawley and Clitheroe. They would have offered unprecidented mobility to such a rural area. This advert includes a neat picture of one of the outfit's motor buses, typical of the era.
The outfit would likely have been typical of the 1920s small independent bus operator, often running a small number of buses and coaches, and of a breed that had grown massively in post-WW1 years thanks to the development of motor vehicles that had been assisted by the war effort along with a glut of ex-military vehicles along with staff trained to maintain them. I'm not sure what happened to Bolton-by-Bowland Motor Services but in the late 1920s and early 1930s, often backed by railway capital, major regional bus concerns came into prominance by buying up local concerns, such as Ribble Motor Services who would become the major player in this part of Lancashire and West Yorkshire.
The ever perspicacious Coco pulls out a piece of impedimenta from some 23 years ago that might have been designed for this moment: if only the Evading Standards had a decent editorial policy that minded the people of our fair city rather than the interests of a the powerful. Still, as it ever was... the papers are there to manifest the interests of them what own and not those of their readership...

Before digging into the last century For Summerfolk Photos I'm posting a a quick set of "Official" pics pics from each year. The only thing that makes them 'official' is that we call them them that. It all started with a group pic in 1997. and we have posed for a group pic most years.
After going to Summerfolk for over 20 years it can be hard to seperate each individual year. the 'official' pics can be a sort of quick reference guide to who was there each year.
Some years I don't have an 'official' group pic for, so a few times I cheated and used one that is sort of representative of the year, or in one case it's only photo I have from that year.

A sizable number of municipal (and indeed company) transport operators issued 'official handbooks' during the 1930s - this for Leicester in 1935 has details of the city and the tram and bus routes that served it. This guide has a very contemporary front cover by designer "M.W." and it uses quite the range of typefaces to 'jazz' things up!

I went to the cancer clinic today to meet with that surgeon and her team, get genetic testing done, and orders for more biopsies and scans.
I'm officially a cancer patient which is still really effing weird.
However, I'm a very early Stage 1 and my tumor is less than 2cm in size.
I'm getting the other weird area biopsied, while in a MRI. Because why not?
Then I get the odd looking lymph node area ultrasounded since that is the best image of that area and if it needs a biopsy, well I already have an order for that.
I like this team. They are clear, concise, and gave me all the different options that all the different answers will give me.
Dan was there via Duo video call because that's just how we have to do this now. But I really did feel like I wasn't alone and that is all that matters.
My gyno immediately called after she received the report to hear my voice and see how I was. She is fantastic and I'm so sorry she's retiring next year.
And that's the latest and greatest in the way of my day to day during this whole mess.
