Before digging into the last century For Summerfolk Photos I'm posting a a quick set of "Official" pics pics from each year. The only thing that makes them 'official' is that we call them them that. It all started with a group pic in 1997. and we have posed for a group pic most years.

After going to Summerfolk for over 20 years it can be hard to seperate each individual year. the 'official' pics can be a sort of quick reference guide to who was there each year.

Some years I don't have an 'official' group pic for, so a few times I cheated and used one that is sort of representative of the year, or in one case it's only photo I have from that year.

Congrats to the first official RIOT bloggers!! Congratulations and welcome aboard! I can't wait to see what you come up with <3 <3

I got so many amazing applications, it was so hard to cut it down. If you didn't make it this time know that I still thought you were all amazing and there will be another chance in September <3

Recently added the Gorilla and Crab walker to the collection of "oficial" walkers. (Also got the prequel ones but they are parted out.). The Gorilla is a decent build, but screams for some modding. I think i'll wait till i've seen the movie, after that i can have some better images, and create a better one :) or UCS? who knows..

This one received my ballot this morning and said, “Thank you!” I think.

Berkeley has SIX well-located ballot drop boxes like this one, for a town with 120K people. Compare that with "Harris County (Houston, population 4.7 million, 70 percent non-White)"—which has only ONE for all those voters!

This box is on the UC campus. It's not accessible by car, but about 20,000 students returned to town when classes opened up mostly online and the very large staff continue to work, many of them, on campus. Then there are people like me who live a few blocks away and walk here every day, for whom this was the most convenient box.

www.pinkinshire.com

In preparation for Pinkinshire.com's official launch, I'll be releasing a few teaser photos over the next few days that will provide a little sneak peek into the world of Pinkinshire Orphans. I thought I'd open up with an introduction to the very first Orphan (and my first completed custom Blythe), Pinkinshire's very own cover doll: Roslin Pinkinshire. (And yes, Roslin actually glows...)

Because Roslin's role in Pinkinshire is essential to the story (and must slowly unfold over time), I'm going to keep her personal Pinkinshire background a secret for now. Instead, I'll share my overall goals for her creation in this photo description:

1) To make a 100% pink doll custom: pink hair, pink eyes, pink lashes, pink eyelids, pink blushing, pink lips, pink pullrings

2) To create a doll who represented Pinkinshire and the future of all Orphans

3) To use shades of pink that actually appears pink in ALL types of lighting, including extreme brightness and very dim surroundings

4) To avoid using any shades other than the truest forms of pink: bubblegum pink and hot pink (with the idea of cotton candy in mind) No "wannabe" shades of pink were used in the making of this doll-- i.e. magenta =p

It's important for you to know that all colors carry a great amount of significance in Pinkinshire, not just pink. More information on that will be provided soon. Also, more background will be given about Roslin Pinkinshire after Pinkinshire.com's launch, which will be taking place within the next two weeks--fingers crossed! I'll be sharing other tidbits of information about Roslin's creation in the promo photos to come. <3

Note: While my Pinkinshire watermark advertises both Pinkinshire.com and HappilyCandied.com, only Pinkinshire.com is active at the moment. HappilyCandied.com is a future project I intend to tackle.

There where some questions about size in relation to the official snowspeeders.

Top row to the left is the 7130 Snowsppeder from the first wawe of SW sets.

Bottom row has the white one from the 7666 Hoth Rebel Base. The first white snowspeeder where slightly different from the one with the base. I don't have that one.

As you can see, my MOC is bigger. But mostly due to having the more movie accurate shape with the rear part aligning with the end of the wings. I usually strive for the correct proportions and therefor often end up with models slightly bigger than minifig scale. The official models comes from a universe where a human beeing actually looks like a minifig. ;-) Our goals are not the same and a MOC is something totally different, but I wanted to show this for comparison.

My new number plates are registered in girl nation, which is why they are bright pink with silver sparkly letters. With these plates I'm now officially licensed to go outside and participate in traffic. No qualifications are needed for the plates so I may bump into you, but no worries: the damage will be compensated with sweet girly hugs and kisses.

What do you guys think? LEGO's outdoes mine? I did better than LEGO? I dunno.. I think their's is pretty good.

One of the many 'official guides' or 'handbooks' issued under the auspices of almost every UK local authority duringt he Twentieth Century and that included details of local administration, services, amenities and industries for both residents, visitors and prospective residents and investors. It is fair to say that this splendidly honest cover, showing the two main industries of the Yorkshire UDC of Rawmarsh, was not particularly aimed at holidaymakers!

The town, adjacent to the River Don, and situated close to Rotherham, into which borough it was amalgamated in the 1974 local government reorganisation, and was unashamedly built on coal, steel and chemicals. The major employer was the large Park Gate Iron & Steel Company, whose many products included colliery roof supports - important to the other major extractive industry. The works would continue to expand during the mid-20th Century with the development of the adjacent Aldwarke site. Another major steel company was that of Wm. Oxley of the Park Gate Steel Works.

The guide includes some photos of the town that show the trolleybus overhead of the rather unusual local undertaking the Mexborough & Swinton Traction Company (they had abandoned the word Tramways in the title when they converted the system in c1927) and the wholly single deck fleet continued in operation until 1961 when motor buses were substituted. It was the first and last private company to operate trolleybuses in the UK.

The cover is remarkably bold - the iron & steel works in the background, the colliery and colliers in the forground and even the telephone wires and gas lamps are silhouetted!

that's hot!

I shot this on Michigan Ave. downtown Chicago while shooting an article for "The Official Ferrari Magazine" back in June of this year. They wanted some stuff on the famous "Mag Mile" and I thought this would be an interesting view. The photo didn't get run in the magazine, but I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a quick and dirty shot, the driver parked with hazards on in the right lane of Michigan Ave between stop lights and I ran across and snapped off a few photos before it turned green again! Wish I could have taken time to set up and light everything, but sometimes it's just not possible!

Enjoy!
