Saw a guy writing in his notebook while I was sitting in Mashte Malone's ice cream parlour. I think he was a security a guard, if I remember correctly.

Despite finals being next week, my macroecon notebook is out because I have a problem set due on Friday. I was looking up the definition of the IS curve for part of one question.

Journal „Pegasus” from collection „Diary of Princess” - my interpretation on, how those diaries can look like these days.
This journal may serve as
- a diary
- a sketchbook
- a notebook
- a „good wishes” book (e.g. for newborn, on birthday party etc.)
- a guest book etc.
Measurements and materials:
Size A5 ( 21.5 x 15 cm), 2.2. cm thick, hardcover.
Includes 71 sheets of semi-dense white drawing paper. May be used as well for writing a as for drawing or sketching.
Wrapped with semi-linen fabric. Bound with silk cord, one end of which can be used also as a bookmark. It is a great pleasure to hold this book in hands and write in it.

Die Uhr zeigt 9.43 Uhr am Morgen, am Himmel ziehen dicke, graue Wolken entlang, es könnte vielleicht bald schneien, dazu zieht ein kalter Wind um die Häuserecken und es ist Zeit für ein Heißgetränk. Im gemütlichen Café an der Ecke bestellt er sich einen Kaffee, zieht seinen Füller und ein Notizbuch aus der Tasche, ihm schwirren diverse Gedanken durch den Kopf, die er schnell aufschreiben möchte.
Ein Notizbuch voll mit Gedanken, Skizzen, Listen oder ToDos ist einfach herrlich.

A quick look at the notebooks I've used to keep track of my hikes (sorry about the mixed lighting), the flip notebook at the bottom I started with in 2000 before switching to the composition notebook on the right in 2003. After filling it up in 2011, I started using the red Moleskine on the left which is what I'm using currently. I wish I had started doing this earlier! Early on I mostly just listed what animals I saw but I got better over the years about describing the hike as I enjoy looking back from time to time and reading through past adventures. I've long debated about switching to keeping my notes on the computer, both so they'd be easy to backup and easy to search, but so far I've resisted as this is the last area of my personal life where I still write by hand and there is a romance to the feel of pen and paper.
