" and it is highly probable that no matter how much i try to hold them down, the memories will insist on resurfacing in my paintings, persistent pentimenti swimming up through the layers of time. as one of my favorite authors, Lillian Hellman, says as well:

'old paint on canvas, as it ages, sometimes becomes transparent. when that happens it is possible, in some pictures, to see the original lines: a tree will show through a woman's dress, a child makes way to a dog, a large boat is no longer on an open sea. That is called pentimento, because the painter 'repented,' changed his mind. perhaps it would be as well to say that the old conception replaced by a later choice, is a way of seeing and then seeing again.

this is all i mean about the people in this book. the paint has aged now and i wanted to see what was there for me once, what is there for me now.'

and hopefully for me, what will be there are creative, rich and full days spent high upon the cusp of life from where, even after so long, i can see that everything is possible." --- Phyllis Zabballero, Everything is Possible from the book Life on the Cusp

Far from brilliant photography, I know, but I wanted to leave a note to myself. Every now and then we need one, right?
