Merry Christmas to you all, and hoping you find what you need under the tree... :)

Although I added some saturation to this, this is what it really looked like!!

I really liked the way the hand came out in this one....

...on Lake Verret, of course. You never know what you'll run across around the next bend of the bayou.

I give you Echinacea, one of nature's most flamboyant flowers...^+^

Foggy with sprinkles here this morning...that's a Louisiana Christmas!

it reminds me that life, when you strip away all the polite names we give it, is a pretty violent business.

Just some greens to brighten the day. Another one of those 'things you find growing in the trees behind a Walmart' shot... ;)

We actually got up really early one morning and got to the park around sunrise. Of course, not knowing where the good spot to be was, we had to take pot-luck for our chosen location.

It took me FOREVER to post process this shot to make it anywhere near acceptable, but here it is, for better or worse... :)

For insects, that is ... ;)

After a bit of a drought, the trees are really sucking up all the rain we've been getting. Of course, when it rains, it pours...especially in Louisiana.

Still taking a photography (and Flickr) break, but figured I'd check in with you guys. Squiggy says 'hi', too, and for ya'll to have a happy furry Friday... :)

Just one (2) of the many original structures still occupying Laurel Valley Plantation in Louisiana. Unlike most plantations that are left, this is still an operating sugar plantation, and was the largest one in Louisiana.

Today didn't really get a shot.. So a sunset after one of those Dutch "storms" instead. Made last year. Looked surreal.

These precast concrete drainage pipes at a road construction area made for a nice background for the weeds... :P

I've been suffering from back pain all week, and can't stay on the 'puter for very long. This shot of a local river seems to have a calming effect for my frayed nerves....yeah, right...

This is a shot that, probably, every local photographer in Baton Rouge has taken. I've seen better shots, and I've seen worse. It's hard to walk past this downtown feature without taking a shot or two... :)

OK, I lied. But this is definitely the last one...I promise!

...on the shore of Lake Bruin, Louisiana.

A break from Spring photos, and a little SlidersSunday offering... :)

Nothing special, just the shore line and this Bald Cypress tree, catching it's own little spot of sunshine, as we drifted by...

Trying to get the mower started today, which means bye-bye to all the Spiderwort in the yard... {=(

The key to a smooth running shop is organization.

I may be absent Flickr for a while. My hard drive is dying, so I have to learn how to switch over to a new one before I lose a bunch of stuff. I guess it shouldn't take that long, but me and electronics don't really get along that well.

Wish me luck, and I'll see you guys in a while...

the things we write down to keep from going mad, just sitting there in the dark, getting covered in dust while the sun burns the concrete outside.

Just remembering a warmer day than today... :)

The pride and craftmanship in this old buggy still shines through, even though it's been allowed to deteriorate so badly. From what I understand, the owner at the Laurel Valley Plantation just doesn't have the time and money that it would take to really maintain all the stuff that is displayed on the plantation. It's a shame, but I'd almost rather see everything in this condition...it's just real.

Time to start digging out the Holly bushes again, and there's the shovel...right where I left it... {=P

This was on a huge vining plant with lots of blooms and thick leaves.

A couple more from the back yard.

Sometimes you look up at just the right moment from just the right spot.

I didn't take many shots last year, but I have a few that I need to upload, so bear with me. Most are just random nature shots that I want to keep a record of.

Alt: A headshot of a model standing in front of a dark blue backdrop. Her head is adorned with a blue cowboy hat and near the bottom of the photo we she blue dress straps and white cotton bodice. The model's pale blonde hair is long and braided into a long ponytail draped over her left shoulder. Her eyes are a vibrant blue, while her eyeshadow resembles white streaks of lightning on top of dark blue skies, and her lips are soft and pink.

It's been brining since 5 pm yesterday and will now air dry in the spare fridge till around 8 am. Then it's into the smoker for about 4 hrs!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Some random shots taken at the Po-Boy Festival in New Orleans a few years back. Yeah, I'm perusing the archives, because I've been too lazy to get out in the rain and cold, lately. Hey, I'm old.
