That's a bed of dried up water lilies that it's resting on. Taken on the muddy outer edge of a wooded pond.

After noticing these bright yellow shrooms in the back yard, I found out that they are Chanterelle mushrooms, a delicacy to say the least. After doing some research and feeling confidant about the ID, I dry sauteed some up to give them a try.
Oh...my...god. I can't wait to see if any more of them pop up back there!!!
note: When first picked, they were not this darkly colored. I waited too long to photograph them and they started to dry out. Also, if I get the chance again, I think I might try some photo-stacking to get more of them in focus... :)

This view of the river boat and twin span bridges on the river in New Orleans has become pretty cliche' (it's the first thing you see when you walk up to the river), but it's such a nice scene, it's hard NOT to shoot it... :)

Even though this was taken back in June, it suits my expectant mood of the coming seasonal change. The mornings are already cooler than a few weeks ago, even as the afternoon temps rise into the upper 90's...our hottest days of the summer so far.

A Spring-time regular here in Louisiana is the edible Yellow Thistle. In Louisiana, we call it Chadron.
When Fall finally arrives here in Louisiana, the roadsides literally explode with wildflowers. These yellow beauties are the most prominent, and are such a beautiful contrast to the crisp blue skies of Autumn.

First time in a while, I went walking at Frenchtown Road Conservation Area yesterday. This is the road that runs along the RR tracks and leads to the Amite River. As you can see, I got there just in time for the sunrise!
