"I thought I heard my name."

"You did."

You and I have never met, many times before. I'm glad you listened this time.

A Spring-time regular here in Louisiana is the edible Yellow Thistle. In Louisiana, we call it Chadron.

Wishing you all a pleasant Thanksgiving week... :)

A tender moment captured on the water as a parent Eurasian Coot passes a fresh beakful of aquatic vegetation to its hungry juvenile. There is something endlessly fascinating about watching bird behavior up close, and capturing these intimate family dynamics through the lens makes the hours spent by the water's edge entirely worth it.

Shot using in-camera techniques to preserve the authentic textures of the plumage, the striking red eye of the adult, and the gentle ripples of the water. No digital manipulation or AI additions—just pure, honest wildlife photography.

Becky cut down the fading Zinnia's and put them in our yellow wheelbarrow, probably figuring that I would take them back to our burn pile. I, on the other hand, took pictures...😜

A nondescript image to start the week...

Becky has been decorating for Christmas again...

Playing with light and color on a cold, grey day.

I didn't take many shots last year, but I have a few that I need to upload, so bear with me. Most are just random nature shots that I want to keep a record of.

Lucy, formerly known as Jack the Cat, is a bit skeptical about that, but she says to have a great Friday anyways... ;)

The same rose, on a different day, with a different camera and lens.

I'm posting 2 versions of this shot to see which one is better received.

This, more dramatic, but way noisier and too sharp (in my opinion), is from Nik's Silver Effects, and results from using one of the filters they have.

While waiting for a Dr's appt, I discovered this tractor road through the woods that was just off campus of the hospital. It was a cool respite from a hot, sunny day!

First time in a while, I went walking at Frenchtown Road Conservation Area yesterday. This is the road that runs along the RR tracks and leads to the Amite River. As you can see, I got there just in time for the sunrise!

Another good reason to stick to the trails is being able to find your way out. On a cloudy day there's no way to tell which direction you are going!

While on my tummy trying to shoot some tiny wildflowers, this fellow and a few of his friends showed up in the viewfinder. I had to stop and look up, where I found this strangely colored little group of plants that seemed dead because of the faint yellow color of the whole plants.

No idea what they are, or if this is normal or not.

One from way back that I never posted.

..... summer in Upper Palatinate (Bavaria)

The feeders have been doing their job, attracting different types of birds. This little guy is too young yet, to have it's final colors.
