I have a color version of this scene (a different view) that I'll post this weekend, but I really like this in black and white, too.

I've been out walking the trails again, now that the weather is cooling down a bit. This is where the trail ends, leading to the Comite River.

We had 5 kitties...now we have 6. Stella showed up in the yard a few weeks ago. Another abandoned kitty. While we were trying to decide what to do, hurricane Barry turned the weather ugly, and we just had to start feeding and comforting her. It's just too hard to ignore those pleading meows.

As it turns out, she is very loving and cute. What are you gonna do?

At one point, I suppose this vine made a life altering course correction. I guess it worked.

The Sandy Creek Park is a less developed trail system than most of the other areas that I walk, which is what makes it so appealing. The whole trail system seems to be set up for 4-wheeler use, as opposed to walking.

This is my 'runner-up' shot from trying to catch some lightning the other night. I was a little disappointed that all I was getting was some heat lightning flashes, but no real lightning bolts. After standing in a field for a half hour or so, getting eaten up by mosquitoes, I decided to call it quits. I put my lens cap on and started to leave when the lightning activity suddenly picked up.

"Hmmm...", I thought, "maybe I'll try ONE more shot." I set the camera back up, and as soon as I opened the shutter, BAM, the sky exploded with multiple bolts that filled the sky in all directions! I was so excited that I had caught that magnificent display! I left the shutter open for a while longer to expose the foreground a bit and then anxiously checked my screen to see what marvelous shot I had caught...the screen was black...totally blank.

Lesson: always check to see if the lens cap is on... }=/
