Two takes from the same pov. One was with the lens a bit foggy and processed to emphasize that. The other going in the direction of extreme saturation and contrast.

note: if you want a good laugh, try watching a 74 year old man get on his belly for a shot and then try to get up...

it's getting a bit more Spring like every day...

Thanks to everyone for visits , comments , awards and invitations, I appreciate your feedback very much

What would summer be without an Orb Weaver sighting or two, or 3, or 50?

A little Sunday Sliding for 'ya... :) btw...go big or go home.

After a long walk along the RR tracks, and before we reach the river, let's take off onto one of the several trails that lead off into the woods.

Enjoy your weekend, folks!

Taken quickly on the side of the road from inside my truck. I wish it had come out sharper, but I still liked the shot.

The solar cycle gave rise to a host of linked conceptions, the most striking of which surround the key moment of sunrise. In his travels through the night the god is accompanied in his bark by a group of deities, of whom the most frequently present are personifications of aspects of his being with names like “Magical Power” and “Percipience”; at one point in its journey the bark is towed by a team of jackals. Both the personnel and the furniture of the bark vary in different mixed pictorial-textual compositions about the underworld. When the sun god emerges from the night, the whole of creation rejoices, and he may be greeted by gods and goddesses, the king, personifications of categories of humanity, and baboons called the “eastern souls” that screech acclamation. As in temples, normal humanity is excluded from the scene. All these elements seem almost to be responses to such questions as: “What are the changing aspects of the sun god’s being in the night?” or “How is his appearance at dawn heralded?” The answers are more tableaux than myths.

Have a great weekend, all.

ROAD TRIP. To me, those are two of the most beautiful words in the English language. (“Cellar door” is also nice, of course.) It’s springtime in south Louisiana and, hoping for great weather, my buddy Gaylon [ www.flickr.com/photos/gaylon/ ] and I hatched a plan for a trip to explore the region southwest of where we live, down at the edge of the earth where the road ends and the vast but fragile and fast-disappearing coastal marsh begins. At daybreak on Saturday, March 14, we hopped in my truck and drove in the direction of Vermilion Bay to our destination: Avery Island, home of the Tabasco sauce factory and Jungle Gardens, a 170-acre botanical garden created in the 1920s by conservationist Edward Avery McIlhenny, son of Tabasco’s founder and heir to the McIlhenny family business. It turned out to be a fine day for exploring in the outdoors, camera in hand. But, really – what day isn’t? Carpe diem.

best wishes for 2018

A fleeting moment of pause amidst graphic abstraction. The extreme light of the space isolates the central figure, turning her pensive gesture into an undeniable focal point within the bustling environment. A stark contrast between the harsh geometry of the stage and the quiet, inner reflection at the image's core.

While looking at shots from 10 years ago, I was aghast at the over the top way that I had processed them. I've linked to the old version in the first comment below, so that you can compare.

Sometimes, it doesn't seem as though you are progressing with your photographic skills, but that is not the case. Just keep on shooting, brothers and sisters... :)

Same bloom is taking forever to fully open! That's OK, though...more photo-ops!

At 600mm and such a high iso (2000), and handheld, I'm surprised this shot came out at all.

A small wildflower found growing next to a log in the back yard. The flower was roughly a half inch across.

Made a stop down the road at my spot for shooting water and trees. It's so convenient: just drive up, get out and start shooting!

I was surprised to learn that this Kalancho is highly poisonous. I love it's strangely abstract beauty, though.

Have a great Sunday!

I've just been shooting anything and everything lately. Drifting aimlessly. No direction known. Just whatever presents itself.

It's officially Summer here, and no longer much fun to go outside. My old body just protests too much!! It leaves me fairly uninspired...

Of course, I always have time to shoot trees... :)

This barn is not far from the previous one - but I think it might be gone by now. I tried to find it recently, but either was in the wrong place or it had disappeared.

...just a little color for a drab Winter's day... :)

Actually, just some night time neighbor activity... ;)

Just some fun with hoodoos for Slider Sunday...

Hope I'm not tiring you out with all the Bryce Canyon shots, but I just can't help myself... ;)

Just a purty flower pic for a Monday morning on Flickr.

I've been archive diving and processing old shots that never made the cut. I like how this one came out, and thought it would be good for SlidersSunday... :)

From way back in 2012!

As always, Nature will out. I stopped for a few shots of this abandoned barn and decided on this closeup of a detail for SlidersSunday.
