This is the second of the 5 towns of Cinque Terre in Italy. Rugged and spectacular. Good knee joints not optional.

Sunlight breaking through cloud from the top of Illgill Head into Wastwater.

Illgill Head is a fell in the English Lake District. It is known more commonly as the northern portion of the Wastwater Screes. The fell is 609 metres high and stands along the south-east shore of Wastwater, the deepest lake in England.

And now for something completely different :)

While I love capturing long exposure land- and seascapes, I'm really a city boy at heart. Time to start shooting and sharing more street photos!

This shot was taken within one of my all-time favorite museums, the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia PA. I've been going to the Franklin Institute since I was a wee lad and I'd like to think that this museum has a lot to do with why I'm so curious about the world around me.

The Franklin Institute is a hands-on museum with a huge number of interactive exhibits. It does a great job balancing fun and educational, and as I found visiting it for the first time as an adult, is fun for kids of all ages.

No poem today. Just a simple picture made while out with the #igersbuffalo group for a #buffinstameet.

silver linings

I've just discovered google's editing software. I'm going to have fun using it. Best part, it's free :)

You can find it here:

An unexpected find, the imprint left behind by a leaf that fell on wet concrete during construction of a walkway.

Also unexpected, finding out some of the NIK Collection plugins I thought were useless on the new Mac mini I bought several months ago, play nice with Affinity Photo.

Branches heavy laden with cherry blossoms grace the garden with promise...

The low clouds in both pictures speaks to the weather we had while in Seward. Beautiful spot nevertheless!

Another of my abstract landscapes made using ICM techniques back last August at the popular landmark.

•The truth about Yosemite: www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Sexual-Harassment-Common-in...

Gang Staking, Community Stalking and Workplace Mobbing flourish in Yosemite National Park. These illegal, immoral and unethical acts are carried out by employees, residents and contractors of Yosemite. These illegal acts are allowed as Yosemite’s Superintendent and Law Enforcement look the other way.

I am about to play my bass in a band for the first time in a number of years - woo!

Just playing around with my "new" toy: Fujifilm X10. Here I tried the super macro mode while the small leave was dancing in the sunlight... :)

When I was going through my images of this particular bronco ride, I was struck by 2 different looks. In mid-flight, this horse was a specimen to be admired. But when on the ground, you could see the effort this horse was making and there is a definite sense of pain.

Students taking a break in China Town, Manchester

Both a surfer and I wanting to catch one last wave. Gunnamatta Beach, Mornington Peninsula, Australia.

Well, after seeing loads of gorgeous photos of the poppy fields in Pentire Head we organised a photowalk so we could capture their beauty… unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas and the horrendous storm on Monday seems to have taken most of them out so by Tuesday night we were left with just a few straggling poppies left instead of the sea-of-red we’d been hoping for.

On the bright side this does force you to change tack, so I opted for a technique I’ve never used before, under-exposing the sky and using a flash to highlight the flower head and really give it some “punch”, not my usual thing but I’m quite happy with the results.

I was also quite happy to be the only one on the walk with a camera featuring a tilt/swivel screen, while everyone else was crawling in the mud I could just crouch down and shoot without getting my trousers filthy, hooray for technology! :)

From here to there

with a purity in the air,

This open-air waystation

allows a moment of quiet respite.

When time to go

most travelers move slow,

As this vaulted monument

brings awe, architectural delight.

For those who play, guitars have individual personalities.

I wanted to capture the warm richness of this '75 Martin D28 that I've owned since 1980.

Like me, it's getting better as it ages.

Dandelions are the scourge of a lawn, but one cannot help but appreciate their beauty once they go to seed.

The Watkin Path is a challenging, but rewarding, route up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), one of the most scenic and historically significant paths to the summit. It is known for its steep climb, starting at sea level and gaining significant height. The path was named after Sir Edward Watkin, who helped formalize the route and made it accessible to walkers.

The sculpture “HAN” is created by the artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset and is a landmark of "Kulturhavn Kronborg": The Culture Yard , Kronborg Castle and the Maritime Museum of Denmark .

Not great timing; rather, part of an advertising installation for a video game.

Inspired by my friend Jon’s brilliant black and white work with his vintage film cameras I’ve attempted to give a shot of Godrevy a “medium format” look.

This was mostly achieved using the Nik Collection; I started by using the bokeh tool to create the thin depth-of-field, but then used Photoshop to restore clarity on the rocks that pointed through the blur, then used lens distortion to add a slight pincushion, zoom to blur the corners and finally adding a double-exposure to add a slight hazy edge to the rocks.

Believable or over-processed, what do you think?

Although far away, the bridge seems to be really small... :)

You can find beauty in the strangest of places, during bonfire night I noticed how the fallen leaves were being beautifully lit by the raging bonfire.

I've also recently discovered the double-exposure function of Analog Efex from the Nik Collection... the swirling pattern at the bottom here is a second exposure warped out of shape. I have a feeling there is a lot more to this package than I am currently taking advantage of!

On the Rochdale Canal, Bridge 8 refers to the Brearley Road Bridge (also known as Brearley Bridge), located in Luddendenfoot, Nr Hebden Bridge. West Yorkshire

Huon Island in the centre of the frame with the ever-so-slight gap to the left of the island representing almost clear water to Antarctica (a couple of famous reefs notwithstanding!)

The 'Channel' is named after French explorer Antoine Raymond Joseph de Bruni d'Entrecasteaux. The Frenchman mapped "The Channel" between April and May 1792. Many points and bays within its waters bear French names as a result - the charts of which were finely detailed.

Distinct mountain at the right is Adamsons Peak, Bruny Island being the landform at the left.

Mercury (on the right) and Jupiter in a close conjunction just 1.3° apart but very low in the west in the evening twilight, on March 27, 2023. Taken from home in southern Alberta. Mercury was ascending higher each night, beginning its best evening apparition for the year, while Jupiter was dropping out of sight ending its months-long appearance. Jupiter was magnitude -2 this night, while Mercury was -1.4.

This is a single 0.3-second exposure with the Canon RF70-200mm lens at 200mm and f/5.6 on the Canon R5 at ISO 100, untracked. A mild Soft Focus effect added with Nik Collection Color EFX.
