Enjoyed a lovely day along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. It was unexpectedly chilly for a June day causing my sister and I to visit the gift shop to purchase much needed sweatshirts for our hiking about!
Visible from rail, road and sea, the five peaks of the new apartments reflect the region’s hilly landscape and seafaring heritage.

A play on the legend of the Phoenix, with an Emu rising through the smoke haze.
This is the last pic from Orford looking across to Maria Island at the Milky Way core rising in the east. Taken approximately 50 minutes after the previous posting of this view.
Intense discolouration on the horizon is from smoke haze drifting out to sea from controlled burns inland from my position. The smoke quite distorted the lower stars - Jupiter is almost in the centre of lower part of the image. Thought about cloning out the space junk flare but left it in.

Stokesay Castle is the finest and best-preserved 13th-century fortified manor house in England. It was fortified by Lawrence de Ludlow, a wool merchant, who received his 'License to Crenellate' from Edward I in 1291. This property is now in the care of English Heritage.
The Church of St John the Baptist is a Grade I listed Church of England church in Stokesay, Shropshire, England, adjacent to Stokesay Castle. The church first dates from around 1150, and was probably the chapel to the castle. It was badly damaged during the English Civil War, and rebuilt in 1654.

Cat Bells is a fell in the English Lake District in the county of Cumbria. It has a height of 451 metres and is one of the most popular fells in the area. It is situated on the western shore of Derwentwater within three miles of the busy tourist town of Keswick.

I went to Lake Tahoe recently for the first time. It was amazing. I can't believe how big it is and I dong't think I've ever seen a clearer lake. I'm looking forward to coming back in the winter.
I wish it was that easy to deal with this microscopic menace. Stay safe and be careful, everyone.

Having finally replace my broken and super glued Sigma 17-35 with a Canon 17-40 L series, I was hoping for a lovely sunrise, but got this. Sunny sands really didn't live up to its name!
I used DxO PureRaw2 and Colour Efex Pro 5 used as a plugin and Lightroom to enhance the size (as the 5D is only 12.8mp),

Pic two of the Momosuke Bridge - also known as the “Bridge of Peaches”. The bridge, completed in September 1922, crosses the widest part of the Kiso river and is 247 m in length and 2.7 m wide. As one of the longest wood-stiffened, wooden-decked suspension bridges in Japan it shares overhead suspension bridge design elements with suspension bridges of a similar period found in the US and Europe.
The bridge was built to allow a trolley system to carry hydro-electric scheme construction materials and workers across the valley. Two different coloured boards remain in the decking to illustrate that former use. The bridge received a substantial refit in the 90s after falling into disuse and disrepair.

Another image for my current personal project around the recent gale force storm that hit the Buffalo area in early December. This breakwater is normally a walkway positioned 6-8' above the waterline.

Another waterfall from the archives. The very popular Seljalandfoss waterfall in South Iceland. The falls are around 65m high and cascade over ancient sea cliffs into the Kerið pool below. Seljalandsfoss is reported as the only waterfall in Iceland it's possible to walk behind - there is a tiny red figure just to the right, doing just that.
The falls are close beside the Ring Road - Route One. The feature is so popular, the landowner has been forced to charge visitors an access fee just to keep the carpark, toilets and walkways up to standard and conduct remediation on the damage visitors do to the landscape.
A victim of it's own beauty.

Ice and snow have come to my town. Hard to believe I took this shot not long ago... you can see the roses in the background.
Torrential rains took care of bringing down the petals of the wisteria bloom. Ground never looked so pretty!
