I felt my gallery needed a bit of colour to break up all the monos I've been posting so here is one out of the Icelandic archives....
Heading south through the Kaldidalur toward Þingvellir on the F550 - you come across the occasional water of Sandkluftavatn over which loom the ashen wastes of Ármannsfell (764m).
The lake clearly holds more water than was present in this pic - probably during the Spring - but as the valley floor is solely ash and tephra, the water simply drains away.
The F550 itself rolls right through the frame and out of sight.

… And now (drum roll… ) Yes, another sunrise from my Umbrian archives from Summer 2018 (for details about Umbria and that beautiful location you could explore my album aptly named Umbria.
I explored that sunrise as much as possible, shooting from as many points of view as I was able to. A convenient approach, you could say – yet there is a drawback. There was a strange light that morning – the air was heavy, thick, damp: it seemed to resist the pouring, silky sunlight. Maybe because of this the photos taken from some points of view are almost intractable. This photo is one of them: processing it has been a long struggle, and the final result has been uncertain up to almost the end of the journey. I am not completely satisfied with this image, yet I feel that it is not utterly devoid of merits and hope that it can convey good emotions and thoughts to somebody.
This reminds me of a scene I witnessed many years ago – one of those scenes one cannot forget.
I was on the underground: the archetypal train crowded with commuters going back home after work. I could hear the faint, distant sound of a guitar and a voice singing - a street musician trying to top up his daily earnings. A girl was sitting in front of me, her head lowered. It took some time for me to realise that she was quietly crying.
The music was louder now: I could see the tall, blond young man getting nearer and nearer. When he reached us he hesitated a bit and then he positioned himself just in front of the girl and started swinging as he kept playing his guitar and singing a song I cannot remember. He was definitely not a talented guitar player - even less a good singer - but his overall attitude was very lively, energetic, uplifting. The whole scene lasted more or less one minute. At last the girl slowly lifted her head, looked at the musician, wiped away her tears and… well, she smiled. A shy, hesitant smile – but it radiated an aura of delicate light all around her.
I hope that this photo, its flaws notwithstanding, can gift some of you with a little miracle like this. After all, one can never say when a miracle will happen, nor whence it will come – yet it happens.
I wish you all a happy (if locked down) Easter!
A hug from Italy!
I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.3/0/+1.3 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal exposure" shot), then I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4.
A very selective contribution to the final effect came from the inverted RGB blue channel technique described by Boris Hajdukovic. While this technique (which, its imposing name notwithstanding, is pretty simple to implement) often holds interesting results in full daylight landscapes, its effects on a low-light capture (e.g. a sunrise) are utterly unpredictable, so at the end of my workflow I often give it a try to ascertain its possibilities. In this picture I have exploited this technique in a very frugal, yet effective, way – just some touches where needed.
RAW files has been processed with Darktable. Denoising with DFine 2 and the Gimp (denoised and original images blended by lightness).
As many of my Flickr friends should have readily guessed, this is another image I have brought to life digging in my archives. Yes, Rosolina Mare, Summer 2016. Again. I am amazed at how many shots worthy the effort of postprocessing there are in that archive.
Just like its fellow image (You'll never walk alone), I had thought to process it a great many times, but I was deterred by some blown out highlights in the sky. Not worth the effort, I used to think. However I have made up my mind at last and, after recovering what was recoverable, I have decided to accept some blown out highlights instead of give up forever.
For me the main points of interest in this shot - the very reasons that have encouraged me to embarkupon processing this bracketing - were the rippled patterns of the sand and that enormous tidal pool, with its absolutely still water mirroring such a wild sky. I have a personal fixation (most probably a deviance) with envisaging certain patterns of sandy ripples as cortex convolutions of some mysterious brain of the Earth (e.g. my Thinking heavenly thoughts), so you can better understand whence the funny title of this photo has come...

It was my second sunrise session at Rosolina mare - not really as good as the first one, to be sure (here it is an example): the sky was overcast, the light was hard, and a high-altitude sheet of clouds gave uniform highlights where the sun was. I was a bit tired - more on the morale side than physically, since I had walked some 23 km only to take a mere handful of second-rate photos. As I was returning to the "civilised" part of the beach, at last the sky started turning into something really interesting. Lots of clouds of different shapes and sizes, and piercing sunbeams at leisure. I was wise enough to take a real exposure bracketing, and this helped a lot to recover details in the blown-out area.

Beavertail State Park, Jamestown, Rhode Island
The plan was to catch a sunset at Beavertail State Park after work. There wasn't an interesting cloud in the sky, but I stuck around to look for a composition for next time, and noticed some nice highlights reflecting off the rocks, some bits of snow left over from an early April storm, and the west side of Beavertail Light. With an eye towards B&W I threw on the gold-n-blue polarizer for contrast and pop, a grad ND to knock down the sky, and a standard ND to calm the waters. (The color version with the gold-n-blue filter was ghastly.) This was my first deep dive into Silver Efex Pro. That's some powerful stuff. "Selenium" refers to the tone used in SEP.
I'm pretty happy with the Nik Collection. It's relatively straightforward, and I find a little fiddling goes a long way. It's also now free; I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when I noticed an unsolicited refund on my credit card last week!
Filters: gold-n-blue polarizer, 2-stop soft-edge GND, 6-stop ND

Pale-headed Rosella.
Even though it is brightly coloured, the Pale-headed Rosella is very well-camouflaged when feeding amongst leaves in the canopy of trees.
The call is similar to that of the Eastern Rosella: 'kwik, kwik' calling in flight, or when perched a high pitched rapid 'pi-pi-pi-pi-pi' and soft chattering.
Scientific Name: Platycercus adscitus
The Pale-headed Rosella is a medium-sized, broad-tailed parrot, with a pale head and all white, or blue and white cheek patches. The underbelly is mainly blue, with red under the tail. The back is yellow with dark flecks. The female is similar, though slightly duller, with an off-white underwing stripe. There is marked geographical variation, with differences in the depth of colour and the facial patch. This is a noisy and conspicuous parrot, except when feeding. (From Birds in Backyards)

I am not so familiar with types of trees. Maybe someone can tell me if this is an oak?
Oh I think it could be an elm.

From Wikipedia: "Küçüksu Palace or Küçüksu Pavilion, aka Göksu Pavilion, (Turkish: Küçüksu Kasrı) is a summer palace in Istanbul, Turkey, situated in the Küçüksu neighborhood of Beykoz district on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus between Anadoluhisarı and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. The tiny palace was used by Ottoman sultans for short stays during country excursions and hunting."
