Commissioned planter-boxes with integrated seating awaiting the truck to be taken away and installed at MONA, Hobart.

Fabricated of Core 10 steel by Tasmanian blacksmith, Pete Matilla, the seats are furnished with Spotted Gum (Corymbia maculata), that has been charred with the oxy torch, wire-brushed and waxed.

The steel has been sandblasted, allowed to rust for several days before being torched and waxed as well.

Was a real joy being involved with the project.

Rhiwargor Waterfall, also known as Pistyll Rhyd-y-meincau, is a spectacular 100-meter-tall cascade at the northern end of Lake Vyrnwy within the RSPB Lake Vyrnwy Reserve in Wales. It is a popular spot for an easy, family-friendly walk, though more adventurous visitors can scramble up the falls for stunning views.

"The only difference between a flower and a weed is judgment." Dr. Wayne Dyer

I often wondered which botanist decided what distinguishes a weed from a flower. This little beauty stands about 3" tall and dots my yard with its perky little purple head. While it is considered a "weed" to be rid of, on close inspection it is quite delicate and pretty. Don't you think so, too?

Snow geese coming in for a landing. They were a joy to watch. Taking flight and landing over and over again. Even though it was a bitter day (for these parts), my sister and I sat in one spot for the better part of 2 hours transfixed by their activity!

Thornton Force waterfall, the largest on the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, is a popular spot for picnics where visitors can paddle in the pool at the bottom of the falls. The round trip can be a workout, but provides amazing views. It may take around 45 minutes to an hour to get from the car park to the waterfall. Swimming isn't recommended in the plunge pool. Visitors can get behind the waterfall for photos, but it is slippery. The trail can be difficult in places, and may take 2.5 to 4 hours to complete.

"In pale moonlight the wisteria's scent comes from far away." Yosa Buson

I wish a photo could capture the scent of this lovely wisteria bloom. My vine was heavy laden with bloom and the scent was heady!

A forest kingfisher (Todiramphus macleayii) taken some time ago at the Eagleby Wetlands.

Here he is seen leaving his nest in the termite nest (arboreal termitaria) attached to the tree.

Captured with the Nikon D810 and the Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR AF-S lens.

Will be nice when we can travel more freely and not be concerned with COVID-19.

Ribblehead viaduct is just over the border from Cumbria into North Yorkshire, but as the most impressive structure on the Settle-Carlisle Railway.Hundreds of railway builders (“navvies”) lost their lives building the line, from a combination of accidents, fights, and smallpox outbreaks. In particular, building the Ribblehead (then Batty Moss) viaduct, with its 24 massive stone arches 104 feet (32 metres) above the moor, caused such loss of life that the railway paid for an expansion of the local graveyard.

In the distance is Ingleborough. Ingleborough is the second-highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales, England. It is one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, and is frequently climbed as part of the Three Peaks walk

NGC 281 ... commonly known as the Pacman Nebula because of its vague resemblance to the famous video game character ... is an emission nebula found in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia. Discovered in 1883 by Edward Emerson Barnard, it is approximately 9000 light years from earth.

This is the result of 900 ten second images taken with the Seestar telescope ... stacked and processed in PixInsight, Nik Collection plugin for Photoshop, and Topaz software.

Construit entre 1890 et 1894, le pont-canal de Briare permet de relier le canal latéral à la Loire au canal de Briare, tout en enjambant la Loire. Il est le plus grand pont-canal métallique de France, long de 662 mètres

Blue hour in downtown Los Angeles. Taken from the 6th Street overpass bridge over Harbor Freeway looking South. I do have fear of heights and this banister was very low for comfort. I got used to it after a while but still unsettling.

There seems to be a bug in the EXIF lens information when switching from the Sigma 30mm to the Samyang 12mm manual focus lens. This was taken with the Samyang wide-angle.

Swanage Pier is a Victorian pier which extends into the southern end of Swanage Bay near the town of Swanage, in the south-east of Dorset. It was built in 1895 for passenger ship services. It is situated on the eastern coast of the Isle of Purbeck, approximately 6+1⁄4 miles (10.1 km) south of Poole and 25 miles (40 km) east of Dorchester in the United Kingdom.

An older pier, opened 1860, was used by local quarries to ship stone, but it fell into decline with only its timber piles remaining today. [Source: Wikipedia]

Classic view of The Watchman from Canyon Junction. Just Google “The Watchman Zion Park”, click on Images and you will see what I mean.

We arrived at Zion National Park about 90 minutes before sunset and rushed to Canyon Junction to set up our tripods on the bridge over Virgin River, soon to be joined by a crowd of about 30 people, some with amazing professional rigs, others with cell phone selfie sticks.

I have about 100 frames of this view, most of them bracketed, some long exposures. The place is breathtakingly beautiful and all of them are worthy of publishing. I ended up picking this 3 exposure bracketed 2 EV apart set from earlier with a nice contrast of the setting sun on The Watchman and Bridge Mountain.

After pre-adjusting in Lightroom, I digitally blended the three exposures in Photoshop with luminance masks and did some hue adjustments primarily on the tree on the left bank. Yet The Watchman did not look as impressive as it was in person. So I ended up using Perspective Warp to make The Watchman and left bank tree a bit larger than the rest of the landscape. Apologies if I offend any purists but I like the results better.

Icebergs cast upon the shore in East Iceland where the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon empties into the North Atlantic.

The small island of Hrollaugseyjar can be seen just to the left of that big lump of ice.

More archival work from 2015 - there was little to no ice on the beach in 2017 due to a big berg-jam on the upstream of the bridge. I posted a slightly different version of this scene a couple of years ago but was never happy with it.
