An unexpected find, the imprint left behind by a leaf that fell on wet concrete during construction of a walkway.
Also unexpected, finding out some of the NIK Collection plugins I thought were useless on the new Mac mini I bought several months ago, play nice with Affinity Photo.

A dramatic, high-angle landscape photograph captures the stark and atmospheric ascent up the Old Man of Coniston in the Lake District, Cumbria. The view overlooks Low Water, a deep, dark mountain tarn nestled securely in a glacial corrie beneath the looming ridges.
The lower right foreground features the rugged, stone-pitched hiker's path, winding its way steeply upward through a field of fractured slate and coarse scree. The dramatic peaks and rolling fells stretch out into the distance, blanketed in a lush but harsh coat of mountain grasses and vibrant green moss. Above, a heavy, bruised blanket of dark storm clouds dominates the sky, casting a moody, brooding light across the entire landscape. A break in the clouds allows a faint, diffused light to illuminate the grassy slopes.

The low clouds in both pictures speaks to the weather we had while in Seward. Beautiful spot nevertheless!
I keep getting impressed with this inexpensive manual focus Samyang 12mm lens. This photo looked dull and lifeless in RAW but after some adjustments with Adobe CC and Nik Collection, it really came alive and the detail is just insane.
Taken from behind the window on the top floor of the Bomonti Hilton. The artifacts of shooting against the sun behind the clouds and reflections off the window are quite obvious.

This little tree sits in a brutal location on the shores of Lake Ontario. It is continually battered by waves, and winter ice, but has survived.
It has lost a limb since I first started photographing it, but it remains a monument to tenacity.

The sculpture “HAN” is created by the artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset and is a landmark of "Kulturhavn Kronborg": The Culture Yard , Kronborg Castle and the Maritime Museum of Denmark .

I commented in my previous post just how difficult it was to pick just one Aurora image from this session. So I decided to dump the contact sheet out and let folk see for themselves :-)
Entire sequence lasted ~36 mins, from around 20:44 to 21:26 on 29/09/2017. Last quarter moon was setting off to the left during the shoot.
The same Spanish newlyweds and their photo crew were shooting around the front of the church throughout the display. They may have some interesting pics but the best of it was off to the NW behind them as shown in these. They appear in the last two frames.

This shot was taken within one of my all-time favorite museums, the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia PA. I've been going to the Franklin Institute since I was a wee lad and I'd like to think that this museum has a lot to do with why I'm so curious about the world around me.
The Franklin Institute is a hands-on museum with a huge number of interactive exhibits. It does a great job balancing fun and educational, and as I found visiting it for the first time as an adult, is fun for kids of all ages.

Returning to my rodeo project. This one is the first image I've worked in the updated On1 Photo RAW 2022 - processing speed seems quicker, but there are some kinks that still need to be worked out. The new export dialog is quite a bit more powerful though - I like how I can now watermark the image with camera, lens and other exif data. I don't do that with images intended for Flickr, but other web sites will get tagged going forward.

The surreal, southern flanks of Snæfellsjökull Volcano on Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Iceland.
Snæfellsjökull stands at 1446m with its last recorded eruption approximately 200CE.
The peak was wreathed in cloud the whole time we were travelling around it and most of the day was grey and drizzly. In the late afternoon, Mr Sun finally got below the clag and lit up the fabulous lava flows and the rich autumn toned grasses very nicely.

Mercury (on the right) and Jupiter in a close conjunction just 1.3° apart but very low in the west in the evening twilight, on March 27, 2023. Taken from home in southern Alberta. Mercury was ascending higher each night, beginning its best evening apparition for the year, while Jupiter was dropping out of sight ending its months-long appearance. Jupiter was magnitude -2 this night, while Mercury was -1.4.
This is a single 0.3-second exposure with the Canon RF70-200mm lens at 200mm and f/5.6 on the Canon R5 at ISO 100, untracked. A mild Soft Focus effect added with Nik Collection Color EFX.
Berrington Hall is a country house located about 3 miles north of Leominster, Herefordshire, England. During the 20th century it was the seat of the Cawley family. It is a neoclassical country house which was designed by Henry Holland in 1778-81 for Thomas Harley. The house has been in the care of the National Trust since 1957. Wikipedia
