The delicate fronds of this plant, and the purple of the thistles behind it, remind us that even the prickly things (including people) can have beauty.

Preferred this in black and white, using Silver Efex Pro 3 as a plugin in Photoshop. The late afternoon sun produced a nice shadow on the sand and highlighted the fence on the right.

Just love these odd shapes, broken and beaten by the waves, slowly turning into parts and pieces of the islands that they protect.

This is my contribution to #FlickrFriday and this week's theme #Alien...

Actually this upload wasn't planned - but I couldn't resist as I found that small eggshell in our backyard... :))

Malarrifsvítí Lighthouse - AKA Lóndrangar.

The light is right at the southernmost side of the western end of Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The tower stands about 20m in height and replaced the first (built in 1917) around 1947.

The station takes its name from the abandoned farm of Malarrif.

We had been stooging around the foreshore - another smooth pebble beach called Sandvík - having lunch when the sun broke through the clag and lit up the lighthouse for only a few moments. A lucky break!

Salzgitter-Ringelheim

Schloss Ringelheim

I couldn't quite decide if this photo should be black and white or its original colors. At first I thought it would be perfect for b&w. And it actually looks very good in b&w. But I finally opted for color since the wall actually had this gritty texture and feel which does come across in this version.

This image was chosen as an Honorable Mention as part of the Court of Honor - a bonus component in the Columbia Photo Walk. Captured during Scott Kelby's Annual Worldwide Photo Walk that took place in Columbia, Tennessee on October 3, 2015. The Court of Honor will be in an exhibition which will include 15 top images (as selected by a noted Nashville photographer) and will be held December 2015 at the Williamson County Library in Franklin, TN. Plans are being finalized for the Court of Honor to also be displayed at the Chamber of Commerce in Columbia, TN in early 2016. I'm grateful to be part of the Court of Honor, 2nd year in a row now!! ;D

Some archived summer green for 7DWF: Flora, and Fence Friday. HFF, everyone ;-)

Have a nice weekend, dear Flickr friends!

This shot was right around dusk when it wasn't pitch dark yet but the sky had that dark blue, almost violet hue. Barcelona is so pretty with so many plazas, fountains, trees and interesting architecture that there is a great potential shot in every corner.

Kudos to the Sony a6000 which did a marvelous job at 3200 ISO but I still had to work a good amount in post edit to get to this result. After adjusting the basics with Lightroom, I had to go to Photoshop to remove unwanted objects including a very prominent pedestrian on the bottom right corner of the shot.

I used Nik Collection Dfine to further reduce high ISO noise and Color Efex Pro to improve contrast and detail. But the overall look, feel and color balance is pretty much the same as the original RAW image.

I came upon this fallen Ponderosa as I walked along Snow Creek. It is about 80 feet long, covered with names and initials. I wonder if Fred imagined that Yosemite would be infested with a culture of corruption, intimidation, conspired bullying, harassment, stalking and mobbing?

•The truth about Yosemite: www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Sexual-Harassment-Common-in...

Gang Staking, Community Stalking and Workplace Mobbing are thriving in Yosemite National Park. These immoral and illegal acts are carried out by employees, residents and contractors. They are allowed by Yosemite’s Law Enforcement and Superintendent.

Back to what I love most. A bit of street photography.

I've posted shots of these three trees at Bronte Harbour before taken during the changing seasons.

Hólar Farm on Route One (hringevegur) just outside Höfn with Bergárheiði (443m) lurking in the gloom behind. We had been driving in heavy rain for around 4 hours when the sun broke through and picked out the farm. The air was still really quite misty from all the moisture in the air.

Southeast Iceland, September 2015.

This frame was taken back before I understood Auto ISO and sadly wasn’t the sharpest pic of the day due to slow shutter speed. I've added a teeny bit of Orton to compensate.
